  1. I and the other old Mojo Worms players (bgbennyboy, Huz, Jake, LucasTones, scabb, Twilo) will almost certainly be getting the PC version. Been waiting for this fucker since we played Worms Armageddon until 5am every day.
  2. http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=64566768063&topic=7694&post=18 Based on Team17's hilarious history of shipping pretty much the same shit under a different name, I think it's safe to assume it will basically be the same game.
  3. They're doing a PC version (which I think is seriously some of the best gaming news I've heard in years), but it won't be out until around the end of the year. I'm waiting for that, and based on the video I think it's going to be FUCKIN' AMAZING.
  4. A Molyneux for the ages

    Tee, that fake account.
  5. Brütal Legend overload...!

Everyone who visits my site knows about it.
  6. Movie/TV recommendations

I watched Hancock the other day, and I really liked it. I did notice it had a bit of a bad rap so wasn't expecting much, but I really can't see why it was criticised so much.
  7. 24" HD 1080p for under £200

Try keeping the power button on your PS3 held down for about 10 seconds when you turn it on.
  8. New people: Read this, say hi.

You don't pronounce CS as 'cuss'? Fucking heathens.
  9. If you're under 18, gaming is about to suck for you

Just to clarify, have those intimating that young kids should be allowed anywhere near CoD4/5 actually played them? I was exposed to violent games and such at a pretty young age, but nothing as brutal as the executions in that. Of course, like someone said above it's also a matter of fidelity/graphics. With regards to the discretion point, I do think the age ratings are guidelines more than anything else. The ideal situation is that if a game is rated a certain age, the parent plays the game and decides whether or not they're prepared to let the kid play it. The problem is they obviously usually don't. Yet if you asked a parent if they'd let their kid watch a film called 'Virgin Blood Lust', you can guarantee they'd make sure they watch it first. The problem is that parents quite widely presume games "can't be that bad", which is why letting a kid play an 18-rated game like Gears of War is treated with about as much seriousness as letting a kid play an 18-rated game like Heavy Rain with a full-blown rape scene. Maybe. The whole point about a parent being able to decide whether or not it's okay for their kid to play an 18-rated game is rendered entirely null by virtue of the fact they don't even know what's in it. Not all 18-rated games are created equal.

  11. If you're under 18, gaming is about to suck for you

I wouldn't ever go so far as to say an incident like that is enough to call someone a bad parent, but I would definitely call that parental decision fuckin' stupid. Call of Duty 4 and 5 go that little bit further than most games, in that there are some very grisly and dark moments. I think I'd rather an 8-year-old see the grandiose gore of Gears of War than certain scenes in CoD, as the latter are specifically designed to be unsettling even for adults. You seem to be implying that there's some kind of of behavioural aspect to this discussion though, elmuerte. I don't think anyone here is going Jack Thompson and saying kids are going to start copying what they see in these games, are they? It's purely a matter of what we're comfortable letting kids see.

Should have told him there's a well explicit bit of sex in it. Human intimacy seems to frighten parents a lot more than intense violence.
  13. If you're under 18, gaming is about to suck for you

I'd agree that Call of Duty definitely has some stuff younger people shouldn't be seeing. I can very easily see how the execution scene in Modern Warfare could disturb some people, but that's nowhere near as bad as the throat slitting that goes on at the beginning of World at War. It's just a bit macabre.
  14. If you're under 18, gaming is about to suck for you

Speaking of Mass Effect, isn't there meant to be an explicit sex scene in that? Or was that just a media hoo-hah?

It's good that they're taking the inconsistency out of things, but it does look like PEGI is a bit too harsh when it comes to things like swearing. I don't like GameSpot's assertion that PEGI will rate any game with a single swear in as 16+. I've just had a quick look through GAME and some of the games rated 16+ are a bit questionable, such as Fight Night Round 4. On the flip side, more games have high BBFC ratings than I thought. I've just gone through the Xbox 360's 'Action' category and more often than not it's a 15 or 18 rating from the BBFC. I don't think it'll actually have that much of an affect on most proper hardcore action games because most of them have legally binding high ratings anyway. I guess as long as parents continue buying games for their kids — I can't see this changing — they'll still have access to all the action games they like.
  16. Tales of Monkey Island

    Yes.
  17. Tales of Monkey Island

Good point about Fester bbX1138, although he was a ghost back then. After Guybrush blew him apart it was his resurrected rotten body we were dealing with, and then after that the voodoo cannonball turned him into the fire demon thing. I may be wrong, but didn't he lack any kind of inherent voodoo powers while in his zombie form, and needed to use shit like voodoo dolls just like the voodoo lady? He was just a reanimated corpse, after all. It was the voodoo cannonball that gave him insane voodoo powers again, which I guess is when he regained his ability to shape shift (he turns into pure fire at one point in CMI). I dunno, it doesn't really bother me. I've never really thought about the technicalities of LeChuck's transformations before though so it's kind of fun.
  18. Tales of Monkey Island

What was the explanation for LeChuck being able to change form at will? I can't actually remember, and I think it kind of took away from the coolness of LeChuck permanently being in a changed form in the prior three games thanks to Guybrush. I guess it could just be explained away as voodoo if nothing else.
  19. Movie/TV recommendations

I went into the cinema knowing that opinions are mixed. While I'd obviously seen the negative regard for the film in various circles, I'd also clocked that its IMDB score — which is usually quite a good metric of whether or not something is overrated/underrated — is actually pretty reasonable. And I've spoken to a fair number of people who enjoyed it, although just like me they're not going to go around saying it's amazing. I suppose it's easy to get the impression that everyone thinks the film sucks, though. Detractors are always the most vocal part of the audience. I did go in thoroughly expecting it to be inferior to Terminator 2, though. I was right.
  20. Movie/TV recommendations

I have to say, I found Terminator: Salvation pretty good. I didn't like how contrived the whole ending sequence felt, but overall I certainly enjoyed the film. I can't actually think of how the post-nukes world of Terminator could be better depicted to be perfectly honest. While some of the plot points were questionable, I think there's a lot more good than bad there. It's certainly a much better film than Terminator 3, whatever the case — and I quite enjoyed that too. Maybe I'm not too fussy about my Terminator.
  21. Boycott Left 4 Dead 2!

    Eh, it's close enough.
  22. Boycott Left 4 Dead 2!

Orange Box, which came with HL2 and Episode One.
  23. Boycott Left 4 Dead 2!

While I've never really played L4D beyond a couple of quick sessions, the sequel seems to look superficially identical to me. Combined with Valve's traditional dedication to updating their games for years to come, it does seem a bit strange that they're risking dividing the community like this — can literally be fatal for an online game. I think most people would be happier if they kept things going with paid DLC. That'd be a satisfactory balance between continuing the franchise's commercial push and not screwing up the community, I think.
  24. Holy Shit! Awesome E3 News!!

Yes, that is seriously one of the most shit examples of interviewing I've ever seen. Footage looks ace though, much like the E3 trailer.
