I think the GTA5 video was a slightly misguided attempt to be straightforward with gamers. The delivery was monotonous, the footage was right off a PS3 (unlike the screenshots they presumably took off a PC or next-gen console), and it just showed proper gameplay along with the facts. Personally I'd prefer something a bit more exciting, but I guess when you have a game that speaks for itself you don't need to pull the usual trailer tricks.

I remember Tribes: Vengeance having an amusing issue with the UDK physics. Very often you'd die and then your ragdoll would go hurtling through the terrain, with you forced to watch as he falls endlessly through the void before being able to respawn.

That's what you get for sexual harassment, buddy.

I think it's just the awful video compression that seems to be affecting both the last two gameplay videos. The clear HD footage/shots I've seen look astounding, just look at those afro physics! Although it is worth bearing in mind that Kojima Productions are a bit weird about polishing stuff right at the last minute — I remember footage from MGS4 being really wonky in areas compared to the final release. And yeah, I guess the problem with trying to demo a game like this is that the way I play them would be boring enough to send people into a stupor. I spend crazy amounts of time planning and inching through areas.

Man, I'd never noticed how weird that video is before. Despite having played through MGS4 four times I've still not fully seen all those crazy clips. Is there even a way to do so in the game?
-
It could be, but then I'll be driving down to Kojima Productions with a shotgun.

Yes. And if they keep to tradition, Half-Life 2: Source 2 will be identical to it's predecessor except the water will have full fluid and wave simulation physics. I'm personally looking forward to Half-Life 2: Episode 2: Source 2.

Looks like one of the console versions being recorded via a HDMI-in or something. What kind of muppet would run the PC version in a 720p window with lowered graphics settings? A PC version almost certainly exists whether it's destined for release or not, where else would those amazing official screenshots come from that don't resemble the actual game in the slightest? With the leaked code also showing evidence of XBone and PS4 builds though, I would say they're on their way. Based on what I've seen of the 360/PS3 versions, it looks like a game that was built to be played on better hardware.

Game looks great. But what's this? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2370518/? David Hayter is credited as voicing David, which was Solid Snake's real name as revealed in MGS1 — and Big Boss, while Keifer continues to be credited as Punished Snake. WHAT IS GOING ON?!

Splendid Lacabra, this is some good news for you that is long overdue!

Wow. And he wouldn't even consider she was just a trouble-making bitch? Jeez.

Can the map be turned off, and if so is it practical? One thing I always liked pre-GTA4 was that I was made to pay attention to landmarks and such, and I very quickly learnt the cities. I never really learnt GTA4's Liberty City despite 60+ hours in it because I was forever focused on the map. It'd be nice if there were something like Tomb Raider where you can press a button to see where your waypoints are.

Nope they're not. But to what lengths will you go to find them?????

I was considering the same thing a couple of months ago and eventually settled upon the Yeti. There were things about the Snowball that bothered me I recall, but over everything else I just listened to a bunch of comparison videos of all sorts of microphones (including that ubiquitous one used on stage whose name escapes me) and the Yeti simply sounded great at a good price. I should note that I never actually bought it as my funds had to be diverted elsewhere. But I nearly did!

Wonder if there's a correlation between how easily one gets addicted to a game like this and how susceptible one is to addiction in general.
-
Haha, oh man. That last sentence is a killer.

The news is that Gabe got to internal revision three of the Steam Box and realised that it's simply impossible to continue.

You guys are nuts. Nuts!

Wait, people are actually playing this? I thought it was meant to be some kind of joke.

Well it's at least a starting point if simple variables can be established. Are you using anything other than the latest version of Chrome on Windows 7 (x64), and do you have any Chrome extensions installed? HTML5 videos are only going to become more widespread so it's worth sorting if possible. Also figuring it out for you may help me when I encounter other users with this problem, ho ho!
-
FWIW it's worth I've had no problems with YouTube, Vine, or Vimeo HTML5 players in Windows 7 Chrome.

I'm finding today that a lot of people are giving really in-depth arguments for or against this game despite having not played it. I think I'm going to go ahead and stay well out of this shit, though if anyone does play it and wants to share some actual experiences it'd be great.

Well gigabit ethernet is nothing compared to 10-gigabit cat6 but it's all about whether or not you're actually hitting a performance barrier. What kind of things do you find wireless can't deliver? Mine never drops or slows my 60mb/s internet or HD rips, but I don't stream uncompressed Blu-rays. Would I hit a barrier there? I'm going to be setting up a (hopefully great) way of dealing with home media when I get a new house next year and don't even have a Blu-ray drive yet so it's useful to know.

Is wireless not high-performance and reliable these days? Can't say I've had problems and I blast scary amounts of data around, far better than even five years ago. I wouldn't know about security though, I just throw WPA2 or whatever on it and hope for the best. These are sincere questions by the way because it sounds like there's a good reason I shouldn't be using it.
