Hope you can read Japanese!

It can take some serious time to work out how to get past certain small areas in the Commandos games, and having to sit there and try to work out how to do it without getting bummed in the gob is a bit too much for some to bother with. It's not everyone's cup of tea; I enjoyed it, though — I should probably try the Desperados 2 demo over the weekend.

Sounds just like Commandos. I meant to play it after loving the aforementioned game, but never got around to it sadly.
-
And you really thought they'd just give it away on a box of Corn Flakes?
-
Only played the demo thus far and will probably be playing the full version within a few days, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much of an upwards step it is. So much so, in fact, that I made a great big blogging about it.

The adventure genre: a stepping stone to greater storytelling, world realisation, and character interaction in video games, born in an era where no other genre could do it particularly well. Unfortunately, the games industry then proceeded to fall into the pond.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Wogan Edit: Why, check the news any day of the week and he's guaranteed to be there. Here's today's example!

Edge, and... well, that's it. I have no idea what else (in the UK) is worth buying, and don't feel like taking shots in the dark with cash to find out.

By the way, Rodi, that is not how you write per se. Or maybe you want to say that you don't dislike Persian 3D art?

I hope you haven't been spreading your disapproval of it too widely as it is in fact a fan trailer — nothing to do with Nintendo at all. At least, the violent parts are. Download the real version from IGN (or Nintendo themselves) and you'll find that the stabbing and whatnot is absent.

You're not serious, right?
-
Yeah, it is. Somebody is going insane. Grim Fandango never has been and never will be a point 'n' click game.

Looks ace. Better upgrade.

I hate to repeat everybody else, but yeah, "goddamn" really isn't swearing. At all.

It is indeed truly astonishing stuff. The part where they demonstrate motion blur almost looks like actual video footage for a moment.

One thing I've not been able to understand about the Revolution is how the b and a buttons are comfortably pressed during play.

I know that there is already a Snakes on a Plane thread somewhere or other, but the sheer magnitude of this moment demands another: the official trailer has been released. Yes, that's right: you can now sit down and enjoy a short sample of the epic blockbuster that will be Snakes on a Plane. See Samuel L. Jackson whipping mother fuckin' snakes with mother fuckin' snakes; see Samuel electrocuting mother fuckin' snakes with tasers; see Samuel cocking a gun in preparation for a session of killing mother fuckin' snakes. In short, prepare for the most exciting ride of your life: Snakes on a Plane. Click here to preview the best movie of 2006

The new version came out several months ago, and the video compression in it is far superior to that in Flash 7. How exactly is the changeover to 8 going to occur if everyone carries on using the last version? People always need a push when it comes to updating software. Version detection is actually just something that can be enabled via a checkbox when exporting the movie as far as I'm aware, and it throws a chunk of JavaScript into the page; a lot of people seem to miss it, though. Fortunately, many stick a "You need Flash 8" link somewhere or other

Probably because it's the latest?

How could the CGI possible get even better? My heart is skipping beats!

This would be ace, but a comment from a Ubisoft level designer last week kind of quelled my hope:
-
I think significantly less people would be interested if it wasn't, you know, Samuel L. Jackson.

The DS Lite looks brilliant and I will be purchasing one as soon as it becomes available. I really like the glossy white, even if it does bring the word "apple" into my mind for some reason!
