  1. F.E.A.R. - first person combat meets Silent Hill?

I told you it's gonna have some Silent Hill / Fatal Frame moments.
  2. F.E.A.R. - first person combat meets Silent Hill?

OMG. Whoah. Click this Gamespot link now and watch the 'Official Trailer 3'. I'll not say anything more other than get ready for some pretty unnervingly creepy moments.
  3. F.E.A.R. - first person combat meets Silent Hill?

Yep. When I used to have dial-up that's what I did. Start downloading a demo at bedtime, and in the morning I get to play and sip hot cup of coffee!
  4. F.E.A.R. - first person combat meets Silent Hill?

Actually it's more along the lines of Aliens vs. Predator 2 suspense + Silent Hill creepiness + Half-Life cutscene style narrative. That's too bad. If you're really curious, why not download the teaser trailer overnight and view it tomorrow? Can't hurt.
  5. F.E.A.R. - first person combat meets Silent Hill?

I definitely anticipate Half-Life 2 also. I have little interest in Doom3, iD have never been known for focusing on the intergration of story and action, but Valve and Monolith are, and they are the best at it. I love that F.E.A.R. will have cutscenes only in first person (just like HL), and that it'll feature the creeps inspired by Japanese horror concepts. EDIT: In-game footage at Gamespot (embedded streaming, or downloadable if you're a subscriber), over five minutes long.
  6. Chronicles of Riddick

Yeah, I know. Maybe next time I can wear a gas mask and just glance at him for a split second.
  7. Ha ha! QuakeIII raytraced movie

Mebbe they had little too much time on their hands.
  8. Just what ARE you playing right now?

    1. Beyond Good & Evil 2. Grand Theft Auto 3 3. No One Lives Forever 2 4. Tron 2.0 I had to restart NOLF2 because all my savegames were mysteriously deleted. I'm pretty deep into Tron but it's really difficult (I'm playing on 'hard'), I had to resort to a cheat to get through a level. I've been taking my sweet time with GTA3, no need to feel rushed. BG&E is just excellent, I'm fluctuating b/t gorging and savouring.
  9. Chronicles of Riddick

Oh, and may I add this humble little bit of critiquing: Vin Diesel is the most fucking ugly action hero ever! I can't look at him and breathe at the same time! I almost don't want to play this game because they reproduced his likeness. God dang!!
  10. Chronicles of Riddick

    A krazy obstakle kourse?
  11. Ghost Master

I think that's because Ghost Master isn't that much of a hardcore strategy.
  12. Just what ARE you playing right now?

LOL, seriously!! I'm deep in BG&E right now and almost made the mistake of reading that post through. That was close. *whew*
  13. Ghost Master

That's the impression I got from the demo. But there is still a good dose of strategy involved, and resource management.
  14. Ghost Master

Thanks for the correction. I consider virtual 3D engines to be the poor/lazy man's real time 3D engine. It's a sad joke, imo. It makes me feel as if I can merely look around but that my feet are nailed to the floor and the only to way to move forward is by 'hopping' from one static view to another. I hate that. As far as graphics, I agree that, done well, the images can look rich. But it doesn't alleviate the feeling of constriction in a gameworld, and it seems as if the designers were too scared to take the full plunge into true real time 3D. I say, either stick with the classic and beautiful 2D pre-rendered look (like Syberia) or go ALL the way and reinvent the world in real time 3D where you can 'practically walk into it' and explore to your heart's content, like Uru did.
  15. Happy Birthday, Emma

Happy Birthday, my little glamour queen. (I think you know this photographer. She's one of my favourites.)
  16. Ghost Master

I agree, I don't like edge scrolling, I always thought it was had piss poor control. Barely passable for an adventure game, but thoroughly unforgivable for a strategy game where timing is crucial. I think edge scrolling should be banished forever, just like that horrible, horrible 'virtual 3D engine', you know, the one used for that game Post Mortem, and Riven.
  17. Chronicles of Riddick

Gameplay looks fairly standard for a FPS. But I like the fistfight combat . And it's soooo damn shiny. SHINY SHINY SHINY!!!
  18. Welcome, "thejizzer!"

Yes, that is our secret oxymoron of the day: The intelligent bully. Thanks goes to Jake for his slyness.
  19. Where do you all live? (Chris not invited to participate)

Sounds like Black Mesa to me. Lake Michigan. And Chicago is right on it, not near it. In fact, the water and park are just a ten minute walk from my building.
  20. Where do you all live? (Chris not invited to participate)

Oooh, hermes! That is one sexy drainpipe snaking down your wall! Mmmm...
  21. Just what ARE you playing right now?

LOL! Splendid review of Troy. Except the bastard neglected to mention how short Brad Pitt's skirt was. Grrrrrrrr!!!
  22. Where do you all live? (Chris not invited to participate)

Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A.! Home of The Bulls and The Cubs (Wrigley Field) World's second tallest building (Sears Tower) Best deep dish pizza in the world (Uno's, Gino's East) Mies van der Rohe's adopted city (it was a lot safer than Germany then) Largest impressionist painting collection outside Europe (The Art Institute) Ivy League education (University of Chicago, Northwestern University) Great tech schools (Illinois Institute of Technology, DeVry Institute) Finest architecture (Frank Lloyd Wright, van der Rohe, Louis Sullivan, Helmut Jahn, Rem Koolhas, Frank Gehry) World's greatest symphony (Chicago Symphony Orchestra) The Trep lives here (Uptown)
  23. Just what ARE you playing right now?

Well, Max Payne 2 is smashing. Pretty much more of the first one, same kind of fun but prettier eye candy. Painkiller? Can't say entirely, but I did play the demo and it's great mindless fun if you want something easy to pick up an drop after an hour or so. Awesome physics.
  24. Tell Us About Yourself

[scrutinizes hermes' caduceus] That thing run on batteries?
  25. Just what ARE you playing right now?

Hahahahaha!! Oh, come on now! If I can beat it, so can you!
