Psychonauts gets a publisher: Majesco
Intrepid Homoludens replied to amishler's topic in Video Gaming
Don't you dare get a permanent one of it! You'll regret it years from now. -
Looks like it's hiding under a paper bag.

How about as a temporary tattoo in packs of ten or twenty? -
He's six years old! They're all evil at that age.

Jeezus cripes, Moos, isn't that overkill? One version of the game should be fine, two would be redundant. I dunno which I want, since it launches next year I guess if my sister's rig or mine is obsolete for it by then I'll just get the Xbox version. -
Damn, this game is fun! I let my little nephew play it and he was laughing like the nasty whore he is.

Web Addiction Gets Conscripts Out of Army

Whoah, that sounds exactly like me (except I do have friends). But I'm too old to be drafted, and I'm not Finnish citizen. -
And that is your affliction, and the affliction of innumerable selfish brats like you all over the world. It's that attitude which perpetuates the atrocities you yourself keep whining about. You don't give a shit, therefore you have no right to complain when shit happens to you because someone else out there - in fact, a huge number of others out there - don't give a shit about you.

How would you feel if you had spent 3-4 years (and $5 million, backed up by Ubisoft) making Kingzstud's Awesome Topless Space Marine Adventure, and just before its release date in 2 weeks you find out a hord of people in Singapore, Spain, Argentina, and the U.S. have been sharing and playing it?

When LucasFilm's Games division were forbidden from making Star Wars games

Are we surprised? -
Highly recommended. I played the demo (which is a level not in the full game) to death like a sex starved nympho in a cashmere lined room full of Christian Bale clones, and then I finally got the full game. One of the first things you notice is the obscenely vast sense of scale of this gameworld, interesting for its tension between the dizzyingly colossal architecture and the comparably tiny brilliant minds who built them and populate them. Acrophobes be warned. I cranked up all the graphics settings (except for volumetric shadows, which slowed down the framerates considerably but were atmospherically useless anyway), and Kyle's universe came into sharp focus with sheer sceen-lickable precision. And all that before I finally got my lightsaber. Those of you who've played this otherwise underappreciated spectacle, you know what I mean. The lightsaber is as close as you'll get to a high tech sex toy surrogate. I mean, that mofo is up there with Alice's darkly twisted toy arsenal. And in combination with your increasing force powers, well....let's just say that it's practically sinful. Gameplaywise, there are near Half-Life moments where I would enter a room and all hell would break loose. Another good recommendation: play it while your six-year-old nephew is watching. Many were the moments when mine laughed uncontrollably as I switched the lever that opened a hatch and caused a dozen storm troopers and imperial guards to get sucked out into outer space, screaming to their icy eternal stillness. Of course, I saved that part of the game just for him to watch whenever he wants. He asked me why the bad guys were after Kyle Katarn, so I made up a story about Kyle having a really hot ass and that all those imperial guards and storm troopers want to grab it, and Kyle hates that. Natch, right after that I entered a room with a bunch of them and one of them shouts, "Get behind him!" My nephew and I never laughed so hard together.

Jedi Knight II owns my ass
Intrepid Homoludens replied to Intrepid Homoludens's topic in Video Gaming
Life before the light saber (and force powers) was sheer torture. But I understand why they did it that way, even though they should have given you one big-ass powerful gun at that time to balance it out (and scarce ammo for that gun so you have to use it wisely). I finished the game the other night. That was a great trip. But the final boss battle was alarmingly easy! I thought, what?! All I had to do was slash the mofo a few times and he croaked! The battle with Fyyer was hell compared to that. -
Right. It's absolutely pathetic how these people rationalize their immorality: "Publisher X rips everyone off so I will download this game from them to show them how I feel." "Developer Y makes crappy games so I will download their game to show them how I feel." "Hey, everyone else is doing it, and besides, I'll probably buy the game anyway 'cause I heard it rocks." [and then keeps the pirated d/l and never buys the game anyway] Morality must always begin at home. You may never change the world, but you can at least change how you feel about yourself.

Jedi Knight II owns my ass

And Kyle has such a hot ass! I left off at the level where he had go back to the Jedi academy to save it from Desann's wrath. Did anyone here try collecting green men? I think they're called swamp troopers, and they give up so damn easily. Just give 'em a little force grip and they'll willingly become your captive (maybe they just love having a captor with a hot ass, I dunno). It's hilarious. The most green men I captured were seven (I'll post a screenshot soon), but I think it's possible to round up a lot more than that. The trick is to 'transport' them all to one place, but sometimes one or two try to run away to look for weapons. Also, be careful transporting them, they can be delicate, and a slight bump will kill them. -
It's stealing, no doubt about it. It doesn't matter if it's a bunch of apples or a bunch of numbers, it's private property and its rights belong to someone else. John is a moron, and if he thinks he can do that based on sheer ignorance then he's the biggest fat-ass moron in the world.

Kewt, but........I think I'll pass, thank you.

I poked around the kitchen in the brief window of time I got. Did I miss something? There was that geisha chick who would visit the white haired guy and his dinner guest, too. Does she have any importance for me? M4? That a gun? I don't need a gun. I wanna be quiet.

No you're not. You played Thief badly.

Redwall, help me out, man. I need a hint (not an answer) as to how to get to the white haired Japanese guy in the first Japan level. I want a Silent Assassin ranking (as I earned in the previous missions leading up to this one), and it seems ludricous to disguise 47 as an ersatz Asian in costume. I got the little fugu sushi, and I want to use that as the means of death. No one else must die, see?* Thanks in advance. * at Kingz.

Games are no different from any other consumer item. As with anything to be purchased, you must do your homework first. Read as may reviews and previews as you can, discuss the game with fellow gamers online. And if you're still not 100% convinced, wait til it goes on sale. That way you won't feel so ripped off if you yourself didn't like it and you can take full responsibility for your decision. Bad games don't just come only from developers and publishers, the gullible and uneducated consumers who buy them are also co-conspirators. By beating a helpless pedestrian unconscious anyway and stealing his wallet, you get the chance to appreciate it, which you wouldn't have if you let your moral qualms dictate your actions. By embezzling money from your employer anyway, you get the chance to appreciate it, which you wouldn't have if you let your moral qualms dictate your actions. If it changes and if it's a viable market. As it stands, there is still a huge market that prefers its games to come in physical form to be handled physically. I am of that market. I will pay to download a game only if it's proportionally priced, that is, it should be cheaper because there is no physical material involved (cd, packaging, etc.). Why should I pay $50 to download a game when I can get the same thing for the same price AND have it in physcial form that justifies that price? The market is the answer, b0b. If the market is stupid enough and uneducated enough to continue buying bad games, then it's still a viable market into which the industry will tap. Very true. Most people don't know their games, they only know whatever hype surrounds a title and whatever tie-ins it has (Enter The Matrix, anyone?) and they join in. Unfortunately the only thing you can do about it is to be that much more discriminating in what you yourself choose to play. As for warez, we as consumers ultimately don't have any kind of consensual relationship with any developer, so there's no one to betray. The only relationship is that of a business deal and of free choice. If I chose to download a game I am not betraying anyone, because there was never any kind of agreement to begin with. So it all boils down to morality. However, if I were to upload a game on my website for anyone to d/l and I get caught, then its a legal betrayal, and I deserve what punishment I get. It's the same as sneaking a digital cam into the cinema and being spotted by the staff. Yep, the most important thing to the respecitive parties who choose to be involved. Publishers want my money, I want a damn good game. If there's any reason I perceive the game is not worthy of my money I will not buy it. Simple as that. I don't do warez, not just because I feel it's wrong, but also because I'm too demanding as an educated consumer and I want a good game that I bought with my money.

You got one year left, Moofsie? Good, from your next birthday onwards, we will do our damn darned best to totally fuck with corrupt you.

Okay, this title is sounding rather fresh. Should be a good romp for Xbox, I'm starting to get just a leetle desperate for something for the console, most of the games coming out are so fooking boring. The only title I'm looking forward to so far is Obscure (for its co-op play in a survival horror world).
