...and it will be remembered that it all started in Fremantle, Australia.

mmm, I didn't know that... Fremantle is cool mini town, by the way.

Eeer, have you watch the whole serie ? There is no slow ponderous discourse in Cowboy Bebop and there is certainly not any kind of extreme lighting. And in terms of characters, it is not as superficial as you make it sound, granted, it's not high level characterization but you really get to learn nice stuff in the last 6 episodes. In the end, the series take the most 'reknown' element of the Noir genre thus it's sound to let people qualify it as Noir, in the same way that it is sound to let people labelling as western films which are not quite in this genre.it doesn't do any harm.

It seems like most of the best things have been mentionned already, but I'd like to emphasize on Planetes which appears in Twilo's list. Planetes is one of the most underrated show in history of anime and stands as one of the best series (live action included) I have ever seen : character driven with a great plot which goes into political/ stuff only a few writer/director had the balls to even mention. 26 episodes and nothing to throw away. Oh, and I'd add Paranoia Agent to Twilo's List : 13 episodes of goodness from the guy behind Millenium Actress. About FMA : it is an enjoyable show which delivers more than the average anime but it would have been greater if it had been 30/35 episode long : the story and characters really reach a peak around "Night of the Chimera's Cry" and it was a bit of a disappointment to see the show going on and on with filler episodes and midly interesting sides story. It really felt like the show was torn between appealing to shonen audience (with battle driven episodes and stupid humor) and boiling things down to a few characters evolving separately and uncovering different truths. The movie was the same : it chose to set the action in a very interesting settings but only used the right angle a few times in the scenario... and it made one step forward to do two steps backward in term of story. Regarding Ergo Proxy; it is good , or at least the first 8 episodes are : the esthetic is really far above the standards and the story has been drifting from a supernatural/political thriller to coming of age story involving only three characters. You really can't predict where the show will be going next, but despite that it is very focused, very dense and there is no ' fat' , no filler around the main story. Mind game was enjoyable because of its esthetic (the freakin' final escape sequence for god's sake!) but went really overboard in oversymbolizing everything... in terms of feature film I can only recommend Takahata's work, very different from Miyazaky (whose Howl's Moving Castle was a repeat of all is other movies) in the sense that the guy has been exploring several radically different genre with brilliance : Omohide Poroporo is naturalist animation(does that mean what I think ?) as perfect as you can get and 'My Neighbors the Yamadas' is the best transcription of a strip from manga/comic ever. Damn, I realise now, this post is freaking long... but hell, among the overwhelming anime trash there are so many good pieces to talk about.

The problem with anime series is that tons of new ones are released every quarter and 95% of them is usually pure and utterly crap. But there are also really great, great piece of work... Mushi-shi - a drama based on folklore tales and myhtologie- is my current favourite.

.. or at least for the Museum of Contemporary Art of Sydney. And I'm not talking about video games, I really don't want to play the wanker these days. No, I'm talking about traditionnal game because the 2006 biennale is hosting a game called La Maison described as this by his creator I would have taken a video of the installation but the security guy caught me doing it openly and they forced me to erase the footage... really silly. Anyway, if you're down in Sydney, the part of the bienalle shown at the MCA is a mix of real suprising installation and video installations... some of which are impressive, other are 'interesting' (that's what I'd say about confusing arts I don't really get) and the rests are freakin' 52 minutes long. So yeah, if you're in Sydney go take a look, i don't know if you'll find it worthy but the content is fairly limited anyway. Anyway, I'd really like to see games really aimed at being pure art stuff created to be shown in exihibition, this is the only record I can think of.

Yeah... that was also my reaction (unless you're talking about the post)

this game is a shame for its creator.

Years ago, the movie Watchmen was under Terry Gilliam direction... but the script was too long, the content too expansive and the director not reliable enough to be financed by Hollywood. Now, it seems the script has been hugely reduced - yet approved by Moore - and is going to be made by Zack Snyder... who got the yet to be released 300, I don't know how to think about this project.

I'm convinced I'm going to live forever, so , yeah, this subject is a big concern of mine.

This what I call RPG enthusiasm : an enthusiasm that is quite refreshing when witnessed in a presentation such as this one,but which turns ou to be creepy if experienced on a daily basis. In the end, it just make listener want to see the guy diying in a horrible way..say... by seeing mice pouring out of his veins. In Nomine Satanis fan are the worst in that matter.

I love you, Spafford (The Spaff Appreciation Thread)

Mmmm, I'd wait for gaming names to be linked to the project to see where this might be going... because right now, it's like saying Grim Fandango is being ported to the silverscreen while not knowing of Uwe Boll and Terry Gilliam who's going to be in charge. In the current industry - and from my midly accurate knowledge of it - I wouldn't entrust the use of a license (whatever the original media is) to more than a handful of developers... and more than that Lost isn't really shaped to be adapted to an existing genre. Plenty of questions here and plenty of potentially bad, BAD answers... EDIT : what studio/game designer would you like to see working on the project?

For me, Eurovision is like, say, car accident : I know it exists, lots of people talk about it around me but in the end I feel like it happens to other people.

It's like hearing General Motors declaring "You know, our cars would still have sold a lot even if oil hadn't existed."

Maybe the facts that: - the scenario is using the most cheesy cliches ever. - the facial animations are crappy - this is more a collection of scenes than a movie - there is no direction (as in mise en scene) whatsoever unless you consider a bunch of guys crapping their pants after discovering free movments via digital camera and slow motion, people with a viable artistic approach. - the overall rythme is shit

Choosing a next gen console for me is a piece of cake : I can't neither afford the PS3 and the XBOX360... life is simple when you can't throw money everywhere:violin:

Read in Scott Miller's blog I really don't know the guy - except that he's working for 3DRealms ... but with the disappointed preview of Red Steel - mainly about how the wiimote is used, it certainly is an interesting second opinion.

"To the Tiiimme machiiiinnne"It looks like Crash Bandicoot with more speed .... and jumping seems to still be a concern.I guess they still have time to correct this.

Yeah? I didn't know that. Has he made any voices for a game yet?
