Is the guy still alive ?

He's like Jesus : overrated .

What's the current prices of the X360s ?

Well, as I understand it the game will take place in a universe dominated by rabbits; rabbits that you'll have to kick out from several locations spread across this world... and you'll be doing this via Minigames. In other words, I feel a platform-exploration gameplay leading to mini games rather than traditionnal bosses. But I'm not sure I would trust journalists saying they got an interview with Ancel and spelling his name wrong.

I don't know... the thing that changed between a week ago and now is that a bunch of gamers are gathering around to talk about UbiSoft saying that a/ they screwed up a bit b/ but they 've got tons of exciting stuff coming up about which you we still know nothing. Alpha or Beta version screenshots, I would have find that a real problem, because they tend to get stuck in people's head. but artworks, they just tell everybody how gorgeous the game would look if it was a graphic novel. It is really unfrequent to see people get angry at artworks. As for HL², I know what it could have potentially done but I don't remember any game being released before or shortly after HL² and offering clones of any of the HL² features unveiled in the leak.

FF-X is just one of the worst game I've ever played : it's long, it's boring, it's badly written and it is merely a game : you get to go from one point to the other in order to trigger cutscenes for the first 6 hours; then only, are you allowed to get anything solid in terms of gameplay. Then, you understand it's shite at the core . But being beaten by a game I despise is the kind of thing which tends to make me play it more ... and so I am now over 15 hours of game ( i.e. 5/6 hours of actual fights). I'm really stupid, because it's not like the game demonstrating sparks of genius, all it has are sparks of mediocrity... I'm quite ashamed it still makes me going.

I went to see A Scanner Darkly 3 days ago and it's clearly not the movie I was expecting. The dialogs are awesome though.

I really was disappointed by the Bioshock video. Mainly because everything sounds like complete bullshit. OK, the background and the art style are plainly impressive but the AI and the gameplay ? Did these sound even believable ? Don't tell I should find mind-blowing a monster reacting only when you enter a certain zone and don't tell me I shouldn't find weird that standing a few steps from the same guardian and aiming at him with a huge gun doesn't seem to make him care ?! The other thing is that it is supposed to be a FPS which doesn't chose the path for me... yet, the character I'm going to play is always holding a gun. Yeah alright. And about the ammo.. WHAT ?! There are weapons turning out to be more efficient against some ennemies than other ? Wow, that is truly innovation . I'll definitely wait for other sutff to be enthusiastic, if I didn't know that the same guys were behind the System Shocks, Thief and Deus Ex games I would swear that what I just I saw was a pethetic attempt to mix an horror-survival with a first person view.

I.... What is the freaking etiquette around here?! 'cause I really don't know how this on-purpose-kitch stuff can trigger a "WTF" while nobody seems to shiver at the frighteningly increasing number of threads mentionning Hitler Come on, tell me, 'cause not only is this puzzling me, but it's actually making be bald in places decency forbids me to mention!

Man, this is the first console I'm really interested in and I'm caught in a dilmena : the Wii will be available at the end of the year in France for around 250€, but I'm going to the US a few months later and I'll stay there for a great while , plus the console is cheaper there (around 200€), and on top of that before my departure to the US I still have to discover the games on the PS2 I just bought for nothing. I knew I should have decided on my own that this console was shite ... and change my mind at the release.

I must be stupid but I can't seem to see how this can be a bad thing for UbiSoft : the stuff is leaked, they get a free market research and it's not like it is material other studios can use to screw them. I mean, look at the far worst case of the HL² leaked code. Even that didn't profit anyone, did it ?

Does anyone agree that Games are Not Fruit ? It would be too bad if Sam & Max doesn't become a money making project.

Same here... anyway, despite what the article mentionned a few weeks back stated; do the System Shock games stand the test of time ?
-
I'm still waiting for fucked up starwars fanboys to raise children and show them the movies in the story order ( episode 1 to 6), study their gnomes' reaction... and then commit suicide. Man, how long do we have to wait ?
-
Mmmm... mod-chip, anyone ?
-
I'll get it if the opinions after the release are good. I mean, it's cheap, but it still is a lot of money.

The Blob is an awesome game ( great art and great gameplay) which shows that you can do great stuff with Ogre and other free engines; the game is available on the Ogre Forum.

It might be quite well known, but I only discovered it a few weeks back while being in Melbourne. Check , to get a taste of the talent of the guy and the performers. This has lighten up my day!

Classic Videogame characters: Should they keep their trap shut?
vimes replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Thanks for the lesson : I didn't realize that The Dictator came so long after sound was integrated in movies. I don't remember the title of the it but the dhort is one in which the Tramp makes a mess during a ceremony in which a statue (or a monument) is revealed. The mayor is giving a speech but the sound of his voice is replaced by kazoos sound. Amen. -

Yes ... and when colors came he never used them Come on, Chaplin made fun of speaking-movies in one of his short but he is awesome enough as a speaking actor in Limelights and even in the Dictator to acknowledge the fact that he had a huge voice talent. However ... I kind of agree with the rest of your post , some characters seems to be built to speak while other aren't... but I guess that the biggest problem comes from poor writing, poor acting and the fact that , in the example of Sonic, we always experienced the character as mute and that it is difficult to cope with the change. I'm not sure it is intrinsic to the character itself. Let's say that Valve decides to give Gordon Freeman a voice and some dialog treen in HL-Episode 3 , that would answer some criticisms mad about HL2 ... but I think that no matter how good the writing and the acting might be, it will always sound weird and WRONG. -
In the last four months, I've been an intern doing lots of different stuff on a game called Global in a one-man indie studio called Moxy Studios... so it's like a toe in the door of the industry; or I like to think so.
