He, in fact, I misread your intial post, I don't know why but I read that the transferring times 15-30 secs you were talking about were the transferring time of the 4Gigs of data... sorry about that. Still, 15 to 30 seconds of loading times is inacceptable to me, ever more on a console ... so a 25% to 50 % improvement is a good thing.
-
25% to 50% is negligible improvement ? I don't think so. 4 gigs in 15-30 seconds from blu-ray to HD ... is it me or is it unheard of in current gen PC HD ?

Because proxies are hating me, I could only played the demo which is pure genious in terms of dialog. Far better than the original one, in my opnion.

To me, the majority of old games doesn't stand the test of time ... and even those which have gaming value shouldn't have such a currency value(I'm thinking SNES, NES and even N64), not if release in a state identical to their origin. In that respect games are yoyally unlike old classic movies... which are restored and comes packed with extra features anyway. Plus, I can have a GameCube for 40€ and most of the games as preowned for less than 10€sowhat the hell. Beside that, I'm not quite sure I want to pay for old games when I know most of it (if not all) will go to the editor/publisher and not to the creators. Overall, I found quite intriguing to see Nintendo trying to get money from there while it could be a massive PR operation to make these games available for free; I'm sure it would bring lots people to the Wii.

I bought the whole season on the account that it's very cheap... I'm downloading it right now at a speed so amazing that it isn't without reminding me of the velocity at which IdleThumbs updates their front page. OhHO Zing!

[to be read crappy anime style] Why,you... ?!... You sure have grown faster during all this time. You must have acquired the legendary sub-lightspeed movements, haven't you Rodi-San ?... or should I say ... The Boxeru ....!!!

The video-game industry is well known to other industries as the only one which is able to deliver bullshit and incredible lies to their clients, not respect their delay, cost or quality constraints and still not witness any drop in their final sales. Based on that, I think that what Sony is trying to do here is to find the point at which their measures will cause the uproar and negative comments to gain mass medias which reach the general public. Then only will they stop messing around... but that's just a guess.

I don't think they need any climax from now on : long movies and n-logies are the current trend right now and it wouldn't cost much to the studio to do to 2 shootings instrad of one. Plus, and Peter Jackson is currently the like of Spielberg, meaning he can greenlit anything under nearly any conditions; the guy is the current big money maker of the industry. The decision to make two films would be total bullshit though.

I guess you're right, I only read the Gamasutra news and it wasn't really clear on that point but Eurogamer is.

If I understand it well, there's a deal for the movie and not for the game. And it's unclear if the game is under development... I doubt it given the current limited ressources in terms of Computer Science people at Oddworld inhabitants.

A thick fog is crawling all over my neighborhood., my uni apartment block has been deserted because of vacation, mentally impaired people are cleaning up the square conscientiously and really slowly...the whole scene feels like it's extracted from the film named after Yufster's condition.

Yeah, but still... if you had a huge layer of the population not playing game, I think it would raise question. I don't know the figures and I don't think it's of any use to study female gamers because, well, they are gamers and as gamers they WILL like whatever they want to without any clear pattern. Even though well, because education of boys and girls are different, you might see some difference between female and male gamers... but inside each group, no real pattern. I know I'm not clear. Anyway...what would be interesting would be to ask a bunch of girls who don't have a clue about gaming or have a strong negative feeling against games to play several recent best-sellers/good games and ask them what they find pleasing or unpleasing. And by the way, I think that would be interesting not only with girls but also with elders, uptight englishmen or any other groups of people which reject games or aren't exposed to them, just to have a fresh view on the medium.

Wasn't kyrandia 3 using 3D models rendered in 2D ?

A friend just lent me for a few days Burnout 3 and I find it, very, very, very enjoyable... so good, in fact, that I'm considering buying it; I'm just not sure to get Burout3 TakeDown or Burnout 4 Revenge. On a related note, buying a console at the end of the lifespan of the system is definitely something I will do again (console is cheap, games are cheap and you know what is unmissable) but I can't believe how some classics can't be found at decent price in France.

When she was very young my sister once declared that she wanted to have 11 children so that she and her boyfriend could have their own soccer team. When asked about substitutes, she suddently looked very serious - you know, the kind of seriousness that only 8 year old people can display - and after a while finally answered that she couldn't possibly bear so many children and that she would need to train rabbits or purchase robots to fill the gap. Then, she went on talking about ponies.

I was wondering : do you know FrestOnFire aka The Guitar Hero of the Poor ? It's a free Guitar Hero clone for the PC ( you play with F1->F5 keys and enter) and in the most recent version, you can even use the guitar controller from GH. Great, ain't it ? And because the creator is providing tools to create your own 'song' lots of stuff are added...and they even managed to rip the songs directly from GH.
-
Mmmm. okay, I would definitely do that if my family had gather a shitload of money thanks to the Collaboration during the French Occupation .... but it didn't, sooo.. I think I'm going to try and go as far as possible in Burnout 3 ( I'm around 25% after three days playing) then give Burnout4 a try. Because I reaaallly like Takedown.

House is a very good serie if you cast aside the fact that every episode is more or less the same : "House is right, no, wait, he's wrong... eyh, the guy is gonna die, aaahhh, House is right again." House character is far too awesome for the serie to be spoiled by such details... and the über plot is damned good.

Okay, I really like the Road Rage mode in which you have to Takedown several opponents in a limited amount of time. The Time Attack and Duel modes are a bit frustrating because I keep on crashing while my ûber robotic opponent doesn't seem to make any mistake. As for the crash mode... for the time being it's not very hard to get the gold medal thus it is a bit disappointing. So... should I like the fourth opus more than the third one ?

I understood that too. Episodic content is new and it's not *bling-shininy-effect-in-your-eyes-bling* new so it is very good news that some people are experimenting with the format. Move forward, Game Industry!

[quote name= Christopher Kirkman, Media Geek]The majority of the negative hype has been internet based. Your average consumer likely isn't privvy to the onslaught of comments and forums discussing the price point and shipping delays. [...] For roughly the price of the better PS3 package, a consumer could have 2 systems with (respectively) High definition, wireless controls, online gaming, backwards compatibility, a huge retro-library and to a certain degree, home integration. So how do they overcome it? Tout the incredibly extensive library and focus on exclusivity. That can be hard to swallow for developers, but consumers have been known to find themselves spending more on a console simply because one particular title isn't available on other systems. Guitar Hero and Katamari Damacy are good examples of this type of effect. There is, I fear, a great amount of truth in that and despite common sense, the PS3 could be a success.

I can't find anything witty to say, so I'll tell the truth : I like the original character, I like the design, and I think it makes a very good avatar.
