  1. I finally got around to finishing the first season of The Wire. The middle dragged a bit for me, but the end was fantastic. I'm already halfway through the second season which is absolutely brilliant. I'm watching it at the same time a friend of mine and I are forcing ourselves to watch Firefly. It's like night and day going from brilliant writing and superb acting to cheesy writing and painfully aweful acting. I especially love Frank Sobotka's character.

  2. Anyone tried the new version of Uru yet? I'm thinking about it as I find the laid back concept quite appealing. The controls might kill it for me again though. Does anyone know if they've changed any for the re-release?

  3. Dean Stockwell is the man.

The "cliffhanger" is made even more ridiculous by the fact that they had to include a second "cliffhanger" involving Lee shooting Anders because they knew no one would actually buy that Adama was going to blow them all up. I mean, if Adama actually intended to do it, would anyone really be all that concerned with what Lee and Anders did? Of course, it's pretty obvious that nothing is really going to happen between them either.

I thought the mid-season cliffhanger last season was quite good. I figured that Galactica and Pegasus probably weren't going to start killing each other, but it was still very intense. What got me though was the question of whether or not they were going to kill either the Chief or Helo. At that point I was still operating under the false impression that they had no problem killing off their characters, so I was genuinely on edge about what was going to happen. I'm a little ashamed to admit it, but I actually had trouble getting to sleep that night so I got on IMDB and checked to see if the Chief appeared in any episodes later in the season (I started watching it after the second season had already aired).

  4. Is there a place where one could... sample the whole show (just seen that one episode online)? :shifty: Especially us "across the pond" types.

Also, recently watched The Proposition.     So good.

    *cough* torrent *cough*

The second episode is also on youtube.

The Proposition was good, but it could have been much much better if they hadn't focused so much on the sheriff and more on Guy Pierce and his brother. They were much more interesting characters.

  5. I just saw the whole first season (alright, that's only six episodes) of Dark Place. Quite funny! The off-tune intro theme cracked us up every time.

Oh man, I love Darkplace. I can't wait till I get back to Budapest and get my dvd. If you liked Darkplace you'll probably also enjoy AD/BC: A Rock Opera (parts 2 and 3). Matt Berry is the best. Check out Snuff Box too.

  6. Damn it, they're moving the second half of the third season to Sunday evening. Does anyone know if that's a more desirable time slot or is it getting the shaft?

Any thoughts on the latest episode? I thought it was on the right track as far as re-establishing the characters goes, but it had some short-comings. They should have had this episode right after collaborators, or at least an episode like it. It's plot was stretched a little thin for a 40+ minute episode. It would have been much better if they'd cut out some of the uninteresting party flash-backs and the what-not, and replaced them with a couple of threads involving some of the other characters besides Lee and Kara. I have to admit, I don't think they could have come up with a better resolution for their storyline. Also, they should have had Hotdog fight Kat and completely destroy her. :owned: :owned:  Oh, and what the hell were they doing with Adama and Laura?

  7. I stopped watching Man to Man half-way through the third episode, rather disappointing show. Snuff Box, on the other hand, is excellent. I love Rich Fulcher and Matt Berry. Oh, and in case you guys haven't heard yet, the Green Wing finale is going to be aired in England on January 4th, and, for some odd reason, in Australia on December 29th. Should be awesome.

  8. I just finished Aria or Sorrow. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with it. Metroid is way better. I enjoyed the RPG elements or it and the variety of weapons (though they aren't really balanced), but the level design is incredibly boring and Soma's wide array or abilities just aren't utilized. I'm glad I played it, but I doubt I'll be picking up any of the other games in the series.
