  1. Why you should use Firefox

I figured out how to fix the tab thing. Set browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs to true in about:config. This will display another option under advanced where you can turn it on or off. The only problem is that it selects the tab instead of loading it in the background, so it really isn't that useful. Hopefully they'll fix that sometime soon.
  2. Why you should use Firefox

Ok, I just switched. Sort of. I'm still trying it out, and I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. I've got a couple of questions. First, why can't I turn on the option to force all links that would open in a new window into a new tab? I looked at the help file and it said that there was supposed to be an option to do just that in the options menu, but it's not there for me. Everything else is there, but that. That bothers me. I've got a question about extensions, or whatever they call them, too. If you install more of them does it take longer for Firebird to load when you first run it? I ask because my computer is really slow and crappy. As it is it already takes Firebird at least twice as long to open as IE. Finally, does anyone else have trouble with their scrollwheel? For some reason it desides that it wants to start scrolling all the way to the bottom or the top of the page when I use it. This doesn't happen all the time, but it happens frequently enough to be rather aggrivating. Actually this problem alone would make me go back to IE.
  3. Star Wars

    How 'bout that new trailer?
  4. Star Wars

I thought they did a pretty good job interpreting him from the book. I just can't stand him to begin with. He's so whiny and irritating. Probably my least favorite character in the entire series. As for how he was animated, I really couldn't say. I only saw the movie once and I can't remember that well what he looked like. I do remember one thing though, Dan did a terrible job acting with him. I mean, he's not a particularily good actor to begin with, but when he's around Dobby... wow, talk about wooden. Of course, it is really hard to act with something that isn't there, so I suppose I shouldn't be too hard on him. I certainly won't be crying if they don't renew his contract after the forth movie. I hope they get Emma Watson back though. hmm... I wonder how the forth movie is going to turn out. It's a shame they didn't get the guy who directed the third on back. Not that it was incredibly amazing, but it certainly was more enjoyable than the first two which were basically chapter by chapter from the book.
  5. Dear (most of) middle America....

Yes! I finally figured out what is wrong with me! According to Bob Jones I'm a Christ hater. Thank's for clearing that up for me, Bob. Hey, it'd be neat if you replaced that smilie with a gif of Bush doing the same.
  6. Star Wars

    I hate Dobby.
  7. Star Wars

But do you think they'd ever go for a PG-13 movie? I'd hate to see Max dumbed down to PG.
  8. Star Wars

Yeah, I thought it was pretty much a and a too. Oh, have you guys watched the Cars trailer? I hate to say it, but I'm actually not looking forward to it that much. I hope Pixar proves my misgivings wrong. I would normally give something like that a but since it's Pixar...
  9. Psychonauts in mags

http://www.doublefine.com/news.htm#4November2004 I have the scans from the XBOX Nation article, thanks to Andy, and I can probably get my hands on the article in CGW soon. Should I post them for you guys to read? Has anyone seen the stuff in Play, or either of the official mags?
  10. Dear (most of) middle America....

"I think a case could be made that ignorance played at least as big a role in the election's outcome as values. A recent survey by the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland found that nearly 70 percent of President Bush's supporters believe the U.S. has come up with "clear evidence" that Saddam Hussein was working closely with Al Qaeda. A third of the president's supporters believe weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq. And more than a third believe that a substantial majority of world opinion supported the U.S.-led invasion. This is scary. How do you make a rational political pitch to people who have put that part of their brain on hold? No wonder Bush won." http://www.nytimes.com/2004/11/08/opinion/08herbert.html?th
  11. I had a dream about Idle T.

I just had my very own Idle T dream. I dreament that when I tried to log onto the forums I was blocked because an age restriction had been added. You now had to be 21 or over to post on Idle Thumbs, and I'm still only 17.
  12. Psychonauts in mags

Here's the Xbox Nation scans. I just asked a friend of mine if he has the December CGW with the Psychonauts article and he said that he does, so I should be getting it from him in a day or two. Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Hats off to Andy for the scans. Actually, I've had these for a while now, but I wasn't sure if I should post them or not. Sorry, guys.
  13. Who's going to win?

Not who do you want to win, but who do you think is going to win?
  14. Public notice

Hurray! Bush isn't wasting any time putting his plan for a better tomorrow into action.
  15. Public notice

I thought I'd post here so I don't spam in the ugly mugs thread anymore. I just got another story about that picture I have in my locker. A couple girls were standing near my locker when I was getting my stuff out of it today after lunch. One, noticing the partially obscured picture at the back of my locker, said, "Is that Bush?" "Yeah," I replied. "Oh, I love Bush! He's so cute!" she exclaimed, "I wish he was my grandpa!" Then the other then said, "You better keep that up for another four years. I'm so glad that Bush won." This is the same girl who had commented on how awesome she thought the picture was earlier by telling me how well it depicted Bush. She also knows that I can't stand him, yet she still can't figure it out. Oh! I just remembered anothe great story involving her that made me swear quite a bit once I got out of school and was waiting by myself at the bus stop. I was sitting around in the lounge after school about a month and a half ago. The girl I mentioned about, a friend of her's, and one of our teachers were the only other people there. The girl asked the teacher when the elections are. The teacher said that he wasn't sure exactly, but knew that they are sometime in November (What the heck is up with that? How can he not know what day they are?). I then said that they are on the second. She went on to say that she really hopes that Bush wins. The teacher replied with some crap about wanting Bush to win too, but that there is something about the guy that he doesn't quite like. He said something about the way he speaks and laughs at his own jokes really annoys him. She replied to that up with the statement of the afternoon. "Well, Moses wasn't a good speaker either." and shortly afterwards "He had a lot of courage to go into Iraq." Ahhh!!!!!!! That's the exact fucking reason I have the bloody picture in my locker. You guys have no idea what fun you missed out on by not going to a conservative Christian school. Shame.
  16. Dear (most of) middle America....

    I saw this this morning.
  17. Dear (most of) middle America....

Not nescisarily. If it was a popular vote more people would probably come out to vote, because their vote would actually mean something. If I lived in a state like Texas I'd probably be a lot more tempteted to not waste my time on the crappy American voting system because my vote realy wouldn't matter in a state so completely controled by republicans. It'd be really interesting to see how much voter turn out would increase if it was switched to a popular vote and election either held on a Sunday or people given the day off to vote. More voting machines so people don't have to face long lines would also be a plus. Of course, it's not like things are going to change during the next four years considering the Congress we've got, though I wouldn't put it past them to get a couple of laws passed to restrict voters a bit more.

Have you guys seen This Land over at JibJab? It's hilarious.
  19. Who will be president in 2008?

It'd be awesome if Obama ran sometime. Somehow I doubt that McCain will run. He's getting kind of old, isn't he? And isn't he having some health problems? I could just be imagining the health problems. I can't remember. It would be great if we could get some good third party candidates that people would actually vote for. Of course, the way elections are currently set up there really isn't any point of them bothering to run. I think I saw an interesting article related to this recently. Now where was it... I couldn't find it, but I did see this new article on Obama when I was looking. I haven't read it yet, so I have no idea whether or not it's interesting.
  20. Who will be president in 2008?

    Steve Ballmer
  21. Dear (most of) middle America....

Ha! Are you kidding? There's no way he's ever going to be impeached right after an election and with the Congress firmly in Republican hands. It's hard to tell exactly what to be more affraid of -- Bush or the increased elbow room the Republicans have in Congress. Not good. Then there's always Ashcroft and the rather suspect judges that are working their way up the ranks. Oh, and I'd like to appologize for my home state and it's rather disappointing display. :\
  22. Who's going to win?

I agree with Ninja, though I obviously don't think Bush is anywhere near as bad as Hitler. It would be foolish to make Hitler completely off limits when making historic comparisons and learning from history. It would be naive to think that it could never happen again, and it certainly is more likely that it would if Hitler is kept in his own privet box segragated from the rest of history. I agree it is childish to run around calling people Hitler just because you don't like them and starting flame wars, but missuse does not preclude proper use and legitamate concerns.
  23. Extraordinary League of Gentlemen

Pumaman -- Greatest Movie Ever. That is all.
  24. Who's going to win?

    hmmm.... excellent point.
  25. Who's going to win?

Yeah, unfortunately, I'm still seventeen for a bit longer. My parents have already voted, but I'm not sure who they voted for. Traditionaly I'd say that they probably go for Bush, but I'm not sure this year. It's quite possible that they went for Kerry. I don't know though.
