  1. Dreamfall gone gold

I can't wait to play it. Have I just missed it or has it had next to no press coverage or marketing hype? I can't help but feel that it's not going to sell very well. I sure hope I'm wrong.
  2. Dreamfall gone gold

http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=64248 Interesting. I hope it's selling well for them.
  3. Runaway

wow, it sucks that much? I think it's kind of funny then that Evan gave it 4.5 out of 5.
  4. NWN2

There's a new video interview up over at Gamespot. Feargus said that you'll be able to import game scripts and dialogue from NWN mods into NWN2. Hopefully this will mean there will be more high quality mods popping up more quickly after its release. Of course, they'll be remakes, but I never had NWN so they'll be new to me.
  5. NWN2

Kingz, I can never tell if you liked Planescape or not. I know you never finished it and you enjoy making fun of "your journal has been updated", but what did you think of it?
  6. NWN2

I believe this Eurogamer interview (pg 1 & pg 2) talks about the story.
  7. Hot damn!

I think that's all they say. That video kicks ass. Tim is amazing. Remember when the PA guys stole his yo-yo? Those were the days.
  8. Runaway

They're selling the new Bad Mojo for $20. That's crazy. Isn't it like $10 at Target? How is it, by the way?
  9. Oblivion

They just posted some new screenshots on the official NWN2 site. I enjoyed this exchange in the comments over at Shack News.
  10. Colbert a-bom-zal-droppen-ton (Bush am cry)

I don't think it was Colbert at his best.
  11. favorite tv shows

What are your favorite tv shows? I never really watched that much tv, so I don't really have that many. When I was growing up my favorites were Batman: The Animated Series (just got it on dvd. sweet.), Spiderman: The Animated Series (strangely enough not on dvd yet), Beast Wars, and Darkwing Duck. Yeah, I know most of you probably don't like Beast Wars, but I grew up on it and I'm ashamed to admit that I never saw the original Transformers. Oh, and I forgot Home Improvement. Then I moved to Hungary and didn't really watch any tv what so ever for all of high school. When I moved back I discovered that Futurama is just about the best thing ever, and bought all four seasons. I also enjoy Family Guy, though I don't think I'd ever buy it on dvd. A friend of mine as the first two seasons of Samurai Jack. I watched the first season and absolutely love the art style, but the episodes themselves feel a bit formulaic. hmm... I feel like watching more now. Other than that there's always The Daily Show and The Cobert Report, but those don't really count. So, yeah, I haven't really seen much. What do you guys like?
  12. favorite tv shows

Sweet. How'd you get them for so cheap?
  13. favorite tv shows

I've almost finished watching the second season of Samurai Jack now. It's definitely an improvement from the first. I still can't get over just how incredibly beautiful this show is. It's amazing. In a way the show reminds me a lot of Batman: The Animated Series -- awesome art direction with some questionable plots. I saw on Amazon that the third season is coming out in a few weeks. Which season is considered to be Jack at his best?
  14. Futurama

With all the Futurama loving going around I figured it deserved a proper thread. So, what are your favorite episodes? There are so many great episodes that it's hard to narrow it down. I really like Three Hundred Big Boys. The ending when Fry hits 100 cups is priceless. I also really like both of the Anthology of Interest episodes. Leela's stories were the best what with her killing everyone and going to Oz. Priceless. Oh man, I think I'm going to have to watch them both tonight. There are so many great episodes... The Christmas specials are brilliant too. It's a shame Zoidberg never really got any great episodes focusing on him. That one where he goes to Hollywood I thought was rather disappointing. Here's to the return of Futurama!
  15. Hey, you're currently in the lead.
  16. Dreamfall discussion *spoilers*

I'd completely forgot about Benrime not seeing the prophet. Intriguing... I really like your Westhouse theory, but I think it has one major flaw. Doesn't Brian make his return to Marcuria and the inn several scenes after the incident with the prophet? I'm not saying that he couldn't have been there before just that Benrime hadn't seen him before then. Benrime not seeing the prophet makes me think that he wanted April to discover what she did, but why? That's also a fair point about Kian's character development. You're right, he was a bit neglected, and turned out rather stereotypical.
  17. Oblivion

Most of that is true, but those three points don't stand in the way of it being an enthralling game. The combat is annoying, but I never encountered a required fight that I didn't win on my first try. In other words, if you find yourself losing fights there's probably another solution. The game is short (took me 15-20 hours) because the puzzles are easy and not because it was rushed or has pieces missing. The story is complete, fully fleshed out, and very satisfying. The leaves the puzzles which are by far the weakest link in Dreamfall. They took a major step in the right direction by making the puzzles integrated into what was going on in the world instead of contrived obstacles whose only purpose is to prolong the life of the game, but they, unfortunately, didn't take it far enough. This is that big of an issue for me though, because the game has one of the most engrossing stories in any game I've played, so I have no problem forgiving its simple puzzles. Besides, look at Full Throttle. I just remembered that you aren't crazy about Tim Schafer's games, but, regardless, the point stands. Full Throttle is considered a classic despite its length, simplicity, and "fighting" sequences, because of its unique and unforgettable atmosphere and storytelling. The same goes for Dreamfall. Have you read Adventure Gamers review? It's actually the only review of Dreamfall I've read, and I didn't read it till I started writing this post. It surprised me because I wasn't expecting to agree with it so much. That review is just about dead on.
  18. Oblivion

loonyboi, I agree with you for the most part. I'm surprised by the complaints about the architecture too, because I thought they did quite a good job at capturing the different cultures of the different races. Sure, they're nothing wild or exotic, but they're not supposed to be. As for the quests, they're a bit mixed. Granted, I haven't played in a couple of weeks because of school and I'm not anywhere near completing them all. Some of the I really really enjoyed doing like the Thieves Guild quests, up until they turned into dungeon hacks, and what I've done of the Dark Brotherhood has also been excellent. The dungeon hack quests in general aren't very interesting and tend to be extremely linear. Actually, the linearity of the quests is one of the most disappointing things about the otherwise wide open game. Having said that, there are more than enough enjoyable quests and moments to make the game worth while. I know I'm going to go back to playing it this summer once I'm done with exams. I have to disagree with you over Dreamfall, though. It's a superb game, and not disappointing in the least.
  19. Oblivion

Granted, Oblivion's visual style isn't unique, but as far as traditional medieval style's go I think it's one of the better looking games. I'm interested in what other games using the same traditional style (ie not WoW) look better than Oblivion. There's nothing wrong with the tried and true as long as it's done well.
  20. Dang, those are good.
  21. Oblivion

heh, the mid-conversationsentence voice changes are quite amusing. I'm glad they're in there.
  22. Just how awesome is the DS Lite?

Mario never excited me that much. I prefer the Wario games. The second and third ones kick ass. Oh, how I wish I could play them on my DS. After watching that new clip on the site I'm a bit more interested in it. I still have a voucher for a free DS game from when I bought my DS, so I might pick it up. If I don't like it I can always trade it in.
  23. Oblivion

Oath, that review was genius! I was laughing my ass off. Thanks for posting it. Also, your new avatar is awesome.
  24. Oblivion

That is very true. Oblivion is certainly more game for your money. It's a great RPG too, though I still don't think it's topped BGII in my book. But, that doesn't mean that Dreamfall or any other shorter game is therefore inherently inferior to Oblivion. It just means that they're shorter. You wouldn't really expect an adventure game to be able to compete with a massive rpg in terms of gameplay hours, would you? Just like you wouldn't expect such a game as huge as Oblivion to have nearly as detailed and involving characters and storylines as a game like Dreamfall (I should note that I haven't played the main quest yet, but I hear it sucks.). It should also be noted that, at least when I played Dreamfall, it didn't feel short or like you were being cheated. That's the difference between a game that's too short (ie parts are missing or not fleshed out) and a game that's just right.
  25. Oblivion

Depends on what you're looking for. Dreamfall is a beautiful game with an amazing story, but it's relatively short and the gameplay is fairly simple. Oblivion is a huge game with great gameplay and graphics, but not the most enthralling of characters or subplots (that is not to say that there aren't some good ones). I'm biased, but I think you should get Dreamfall if only because it's awesome and Oblivion doesn't need to sell anymore copies while Dreamfall does.
