I'd never played any of the Gabriel Knight games, so I decided to get the first one off ebay a couple weeks ago. I just started playing it this week, and I'm currently half-way through the next to last day. It seems that people are always raving about the game and its incredibly intricate and well researched story. Barring some amazing plot development in the last day and a half, I'm just not seeing what the fuss is about. Sure, the story is well researched and Gabriel and Grace's characters are great, especially Grace, but that doesn't automatically make the games storyline engrossing. As a mystery, which it claims to be right on the box, it utterly fails. Every aspect of the plot is blatantly obvious to the player from the outset. Doesn't exactly make for an exciting or engrossing "mystery". Don't get me wrong, it's a decent adventure, but, as far as I'm concerned, its plot is nothing special. I hear a lot of people say that they think the first game is the best in the series. So, my question is, is this true? I really want to love these games, but if the plots to the two sequels are just as disappointing, or even more so, I think I'll pass for now.

To be honest, he enthusiastically makes his game sound like shit. What he said basically boiled down to him saying his game is going to be awesome because it's entirely based on cliches and is full of senseless fighting for the sake of fighting. wow, sounds great.

I have a very hard time believing that that game is going to stay a PS3 exclusive.

I usually don't watch deleted scenes included on dvds as they usually suck and deserved to be cut. Are these ones worth watching?

Just have one more episode to go in the first season now. :tup: I have a question about the series in general. Does Ron Moore have the entire thing planed out from start to finish? What I mean is, does he already have in mind how many seasons its going to run for? I ask because, as much as I love the show, I hope it doesn't run for some ungodly number of seasons only to end when its ratings finally fall, they run out of ideas, or whatever. Just from the way all the episodes flow together I'm guessing that they're not going to do this, but, then again, I haven't watched the second season yet and know nothing of the big twist at the end.

Is it possible for a console like that to be region free due to PAL and NTSC?

wow. I just finished the eighth episode of the first season. I absolutely love this show now. It's so good. Gaius. I love Gaius. He has to be one of the greatest tv characters ever. I just can't get enough of him. Damn you, Netflix! Bring me the last two dvds! So, yeah, if you have never watched the show, do yourself a favor and check it out. Don't be put off by the rather uninteresting pilot. The rest of the show is completely different and much much better.

I'm surprised Yufster hasn't commented on the e3 show yet. I just watched it (the first episode I've watched in its entirety), and it left me with a couple of thoughts. 1) I thought you had to be 18 or over to get into e3... 2) It was funny how every person they interviewed was more articulate than the hosts, and it was especially funny when that n-sider guy took control of the interview. 3) Say what you want about that insane kid, Geoff, but damn is he ever good at DDR.

I haven't played the xbox version, but the pc controls actually work quite well after you get used to them. Mind you, the default settings suck, but they're easy enough to change.

A part of Faith remained somewhere after she died because of two things. First of all, I'm pretty sure that she's a dreamer, like Zoe. If I understand correctly the two of them were more or less genetically engineered by Jiva, which explains why they're different than everyone else. The second factor has to do with the fact that she died while she was in the Dreamcore. The combination of these two things resulted in a part of her being left behind. Nope, there's no relation between Zoe and the White Dragon. Did you play The Longest Journey? The relation is between April and the White Dragon. What exactly that relationship is remains one of the biggest unanswered questions in the series. I'm guessing it'll finally be answered in the next game and reveal what April actually is. Zoe convincing Faith to give up her connection to the world was both good and bad. It was good because Faith was tormented and needed to be free from the world. It also prevented another collapse in Stark. But it's also part of the irony of ending because you end up bringing about that which you spent the whole game trying to prevent. Also, Zoe was tricked by her "mother" into thinking that the dreamer wouldn't be launched if she freed Faith, but that it still might be if there was a collapse. This is obviously false, so it raises some interesting questions about what her "mother's" motives are.

I was quite pleased, I went to Best Buy yesterday and they had Dreamfall on their front shelf just as you walk in. They had a decent number of them, and it also looked like they'd sold quite a few.

Never mind, I figured it out for myself. Just as I thought, the hotel is modeled after the Gellert Hotel. I'm definitely going to get the game now. I used to live less than half a block from that hotel.

Yeah, I think going the rout of compact flash and a GBA MP2 is actually cheaper. I got a 1 gig compact flash card for about $20, which is a heck of a lot better than you could do on a GBA flash cart. The one I got has a life-time warrenty on it too, so even if it does crash I'd have no trouble getting a new one.
