  1. DS Games

I thought Portrait of Ruin was being pushed back?
  2. Battlestar Galactica Season 3

Yeah, I agree with Marek. It was a solid episode. I have a feeling that it's going to be a turning point for the season, as it feels like they've finally found their footing again. They've either tied-up or dropped most of the sub-plots, so the show should be much more focused. It's just too bad how many things they've had to sweep under the rug to get to this point.
  3. DS Games

I found a good deal on a copy of Touch Detective today, so I decided to get it to see how accurate the reviews of it were. I've played about an hour of it, and so far it appears that it got bad reviews solely because it's an adventure game. The music and graphics in it are top notch.
  4. Gears of War Hype?

Which one was that? I was talking about this one.
  5. Gears of War Hype?

Speaking of commercials, has anyone seen the one for Viva Pinata?
  6. Movie/TV recommendations

Well, I thought the Spiderman 3 trailer made the movie look hilariously melodramatic. Also, if the trailer is anything to go by, Venom is going to suck, which is a crying shame seeing as they did him so well in the cartoon. Maybe they're just saving the good Venom bits for the movie. Maybe...
  7. Movie/TV recommendations

Have you guys watched the new trailer for Spiderman 3? It looks like shit.
  8. Movie/TV recommendations

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang It has a much different tone than Brick, but it's a brilliant movie.
  9. DS Games

Awesome. I was thinking of going for the double pack as I can get it for $20, which is great.
  10. DS Games

I've never played a Castlevania game before and am thinking of getting one. Which should I get? Dawn of Sorrow? Aria of Sorrow? Harmony of Dissonance? Circle of the Moon?
  11. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All

Miffy, what are the none tank battle parts of the game like? I think I heard it compared to Zelda once. Is that true?
  12. Gears of War Hype?

Yeah, its commercial is great. It immediately made me take interest in the game when I hadn't previously.
  13. DS Games

meh. Who else here has played Contact? I haven't played it in a week or so mainly because I've been bogged down by a ton of school work, but I'm actually beginning to agree with the gamespot review. I was really loving it at first, but then it gets disappointingly repetitive.
  14. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All

Probably because they haven't announced a DS port of the third game, and the fourth is a DS game not a GBA game.
  15. Battlestar Galactica Season 3

I don't think it was that terrible. Actually, I enjoyed all of the bits on Galactica. Sure, the discontent subplot might have been a little rushed, but that was nothing compared to what they've already done this season. Plus, I'm pretty sure it's not completely taken care of yet. Obviously this is true for Tigh, and I'm hoping it's true for Starbuck as well. I was also glad to finally see Adama do something. So far this season he's pretty much taken the back seat. I didn't particularly enjoy the Cylon shit, however. What the hell? What's with the Minority Report girl? At the end of the second season I was really looking forward to the Cylon subplot this season, but so far it's been rather disappointing. Why do they make all of the Cylon stuff so hokey?
  16. NWN2

Eurogamer wrote a good review. What do you think of it so far, Nick?
  17. Sam and Max

That's not the point. I'm sure you can finish all of the puzzles within a half hour if you really wanted to but you'd miss out on all of the dialog.
  18. Sam and Max

If you played through the game in an hour and a half you missed at least half of it.
  19. NWN2

I'm hoping that they'll release a demo so I can see how well it runs on my computer before picking it up. I heard that it has surprisingly high system requirements.
  20. Sam and Max

I just finished it. To be honest, I hadn't expected it to be as amazing as it turned out to be. I can't really think of anything bad to say about it. The 3d graphics work surprisingly well, and Sam & Max have some of the best 3d animation that I've seen. If only the characters in Dreamfall had been this expressive... You know, this is probably one of the advantages of making episodic games. The developers spend more time on each individual part of the game so in the end the game ends up more detailed as a whole. They're able to spend the time to do things like make sure that each scene is animated properly instead of inserting boring generic animations. Also, I love the red and black title sequences and the dream sequences were top notch. Too bad we have to wait till January for the next episode. Has anything been announced about when the next Bone game is coming out? Oh, and what's the deal with the updated editions of Bone? Can you get them if you've already bought the game, or do you have to buy it again? I don't own a physical copy of either of them, so I'm tempted to buy them again now, but I don't want to buy a second time only for Telltale to release yet another updated edition in a year or two. Telltale should have multiple versions available on their site, so people with crappy computers and slow internet connections can play their games and people with good computers and fast internet connections can get a higher quality version of the game. Then they wouldn't have to bother with re-releases.
  21. Sam and Max

Oh man, Culture Shock kicks some serious ass.
  22. Prison break anyone?

I don't really like Prison Break, though I haven't watched any of the second season. I'm ashamed to admit that I actually did watch all of the first season purely for that hot doctor. It had a decent premise, but it just didn't carry for an entire season. Not to mention all of that stuff that was happening outside of prison and the sinister plot turned out to be rather lame. Oh! And my biggest peeve about the show is how they're always, always, pulling the faux suspense card. "oh shit! They're about to be found out! No wait... somehow they managed to paint the Sistine Chapel, reconstruct the Taj Mahal, and roast a turkey in the 30 seconds it took the guard to walk to the door! That was a close one! Feel the tension, damn it!" Lame.
  23. Battlestar Galactica Season 3

Yeah, I thought that the resolution to the second season was rather truncated and unsatisfying, but I'm pretty sure it ended up that way because of budgeting and the expense of filming New Caprica. Unfortunate.
  24. Battlestar Galactica Season 3

I think there were around 49,000 at the beginning of the first season. By the end of the second season I believe there were around 39,000. I just checked the Battlestar wiki. Apparently at the end of 33 there were 47,273 survivors and at the end of Lay Down Your Burdens there were 39,192. ah, but apparently there some debate about whether or not that number includes people who weren't on New Caprica as the number at the beginning of the episodes was 49,550. Naturally, some of the lose is due to the explosion. So, yeah, never mind. I guess Marek was right. For some reason I thought that even before the explosion they had less people than they started with.
