  1. Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse

FYI, Tell Tale did another stealth release. The 4th episode is out.
  2. Futurama returns in 2008

Whoops, I accidentally watched In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela yesterday rather than Rebirth. Rebirth was better.
  3. Futurama returns in 2008

I only watched the first episode last night, so perhaps I should withhold judgement till I've seen the second half, but it was pretty unfunny. I remember laughing out loud a grand total of one time, and that joke was still unmemorable.

    Look promising, thanks!

I watched the first episode of Torchwood last night, and wasn't overly impressed. Should I give it another shot? Does it get better?
  6. Movie/TV recommendations

It's been a few a while since I last checked up on British tv shows. I just started watching the current season of Dr Who, and it's got me interested again. Are there any other good recent BBC or Channel 4 shows? Fingers crossed for something as entertaining as Green Wing.
  7. Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse

The new episode is great, particularly the incredible noir first act.
  8. What is the Mystery of Scoggins?

The same thing happened to me when I tried the day it was announced. I haven't bothered to try again. I'll give it another shot when it's released.
  9. Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse

Episode 2 is excellent so far. The change in structure is quite refreshing.
  10. Treme

Does anyone know if Treme is available anywhere online through legit channels? It's disappointing that HBO's stuff on Amazon isn't current. Anyone watch it yet?
  11. Movie/TV recommendations

Yes, I'd never read the source play, so I can't comment on how much of it was changed. Regardless, the dialog is brilliant.

Who's Afraid of Virginia Wold (written by the guy who wrote Sweet Smell of Succes) Glengarry Glen Ross Deadwood
  13. Tales of Monkey Island

    Ah, right. I used Crossover.
  14. Tales of Monkey Island

I can't speak for all Macbooks, but all five episodes ran great on mine through Steam.
  15. Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse

Wow, I just started it this evening. It's roughly 100 times better than the previous seasons. They seem to have addressed just about everything that irked me about the previous games. It feels like a real, gritty Sam & Max experience now, and not, as this episode actually puts it, daycare. Also, the new game mechanics with Max are fantastic, and feel fresh. A+

I've been watching Justified after someone on a local Detroit NPR station mentioned it recently. It's a solid show. Timothy Olyphant's character is extremely similar to his character from Deadwood, though less irritating. There's also a comical amount of shooting that seems to happen in every episode. But, other than that, the show is well made, well written, is enjoyable to watch, and to date has a complete lack of annoying characters/actors.
  17. Battlestar Galactica (BSG) and spinoffs

hmmm... now Caprica is becoming The Matrix. At least the most recent episode was less boring than the rest.

I know I'm a bit late to the discussion, but I just watched it this evening. I see the parallel between Larry (Job) and Schrodinger's cat as, was Larry always this way or did his trials make him that way? Does the decision he made reflect who he is or what the tests he's endured has caused him to be? What I don't get is what they were going for at the end with his son.

Now that I think about it, they have a couple of the stars from Deadwood and Rome too..

Anyone watch the new episode of Caprica? It's starting pretty slowly, but it seems to have potential. What the hell is up with the polygamy stuff though? It's like Syfy is trying to do a mash-up of successful HBO shows. "If you liked Big Love and The Sopranos, you'll love Caprica."
  21. Braid

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll just slowly work on getting the stars. Great game.
  22. Braid

I finally got Braid a couple days ago, and just completed it. I got all of the puzzle pieces, but I didn't realize that there were also stars to be gathered, until I looked at a walkthrough to see if there was a way to get on the ladder to the princess that appears while re-winding the last level. Collecting the stars seems rather time consuming. I was wondering if anyone here has done it, and, if so, is it worth the effort?
  23. Tales of Monkey Island

Great job, Jake and co! It was a fantastic season that shattered my expectations, especially the 3rd and 4th episodes. The final episode was mostly enjoyable. I'm guessing it'd probably be better if played more closely to the other episodes, as well as with a real mouse rather than a shitty touch pad.
  24. Sam & Max 2010

I share your sentiments. I didn't finish the second season because I could never work up the interest to finish Moai Better Blues.
