  1. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Fate of Atlantis is, to be fair, the best graphical adventure ever made. You should definitely try all the others LucasArts made though, they're all spectacular.
  2. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

No, I look nothing like that. It's Indiana Jones from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, an old LucasArts adventure game.

Text in all caps looks like shouting!

Thanks! In fact, I think I'll probably buy that again. But when you say it's better than Commandos 2, I feel like I oughta kick you square in the nuts. Name me one Commandos-like game that's better than Commandos 2. One!
  5. Movie/TV recommendations

The season right after 4 but just before 6. Here's a Wikipedia hyperlink: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Futurama_(season_5) I think it's really weird that you don't understand what I mean by season 5 of Futurama. Also, I don't understand why you used the shifty smily. Also I don't read text that is hidden in parantheses. In my opinion, if you're going to say something, just go ahead and say it. edit: I'm not real happy about this post.

Did you play Desperados? It's the game Spellbound made before Robin Hood. It's a terrific, fantastic, super-great Commandos-like game. It's not availble on Steam, but if you can get a hold of it you really should. In a lot of ways it's even better than Commandos. I was really disappointed by Robin Hood's action focus when I played it. I really loved the slow, tactical gameplay of Desperados, and from what I remember, Robin Hood is very much more action-oriented.

Or you could go to the fucking Rembrandt Toilet and look at fucking Rembrandt while taking a dump.
  8. Deus Ex 3

So I haven't read any of this thread, and I've only played ten minutes, but when I got an achievement for doing what comes natural to me, and calling me "old school", this game went straight to the top of my list. Also, plus points for: Loading quickly Having good default settings for mouse sensitivity (a first, I think, for me) The FOV slider What seems like a nice, PC-friendly HUD (small and sharp, not huge and blurry) Just directing a powerful torrent of production value straight into my face with the "touring the facility" intro. So much stuff going on... it's a cheap hook, in a way, but it works spectacularly. Scrolling things with my mousewheel. I always try this in new games, but noticed that, here, it worked flawlessly. Just having played a couple of short sequences, I get the impression this may be the best multiplatform release ever, from a PC standpoint. Maybe Ubisoft should gather some multitools and sneak on into Square Enix' facilities.
  9. Quantum Conundrum

GOD DAMN YOU Looks like a fun game, though I'm not sure how the mechanics would've fit with Portal. Seems like a wholly different thing. Also, it seems they're going for the "hey, we have a puzzle game and put a story on it" approach, rather than Valve's more elegant way of going about it, which is fine. The best thing about the preview video is when she, instead of saying "goes ahead" she says "go aheads". I'm quite confident I would totally do that myself if I were doing a presentation, and I would feel so ashamed for many weeks.
  10. Deus Ex

    GREAT DEUS EX THREAD GUYS
  11. Books, books, books...

I had to give up Saturn's Children, as it reminded me too much of this:
  12. Deus Ex

I played SS2 but had to quit because it was too scary.
  13. So everyone knows nobody finishes games. I don't remember the statistics, but most people give up before seeing the ending. Let me know if there is statistics that contradict this, but Valve's statistics from Half-Life: Episode One says between 30 and 50 percent (depending on how you interpret the numbers) of players actually finished it, and that's a pretty short game. There have been a huge number of even smaller AAA games released since then, though. Telltale have released around a million episodes of different games. Does anyone know what the numbers are on these? Does the 30%-50% completion statistic match each episode (hard to believe) or each season in any way? Does each episode sell less than the previous one? What about subsequent seasons? Are sales for the first episode in a new season higher than the last episode of the previous season? I expect someone to just serve up all these numbers.
  14. Deus Ex

Get yourself a laser sight, and instant kills (and in turn, stealth kills) becomes much easier.
  15. Eric Chahi's Project Dust

I guess they figure they're not in the business of giving people the best games possible; they're in the business of making money, and have calculated that the hit they're taking in reputation is worth the extra money they're making by forcing some number of would-be pirates to pay for it. They've said they're very happy with the DRM, but that could of course mean any number of things, including "It's terrible, but if we close our eyes and wish really hard..." It's a valid strategy, by all means. On the other side of the scale you have the hardcore indie developers who practically give away their games, have no DRM, etc. This gives tons of cred and goodwill, but maybe not that many shareholder yachts.
  16. Eric Chahi's Project Dust

Just requested a refund. If they release a patch that fixes the glaring issues I'll repurchase it.
  17. Books, books, books...

    Ah, thanks for that link.
  18. Deus Ex

Okay, so I'm not going to play this through after all. It's dawning on my how huge it is, and how I'm not going to get the proper experience by rushing through it. I think I've refreshed my memory enough to be even more anxious to play it on Friday. Does anyone know if Invisible War ended up having, you know... happened in Deus Ex 3?
  19. Deus Ex 3

Well, congratulations to America! You have unlocked the game and can start having fun. Good for you!
  20. Books, books, books...

Hey, I have a question. I just started reading Saturn's Children because I'd just finished a rather heavy book and wanted something lighter. This seemed to fit the bill: Interestingly, this book came out in 2008, not in 1998 as the cover might suggest. I'm quite sure I bought it because someone here recommended it. I read a couple of chapters and, after the sequence where the main character is given sex to by a space gondola ("Ooh, that's a big colon you've got!") I have to ask: what is this? Is this a good book?
  21. Blocks That Matter: An Ode To All "Blocky" Game?

I looked it up on Steam, and it seemed pretty fun. However, the Alexey Pajitnov & Notch angle is so weird to me. Were they involved in developing the game in any way? Are they the actual main characters in the game?
  22. Bastion

I'm having a real hard time with this game. It's nice-looking and nice-sounding and it's obviously a good game, but there's just too much chaotic combat going on, which exhausts me. Then there's the thing where I get hung up on some extremely difficult part and ragequit. For example, I smoked a pipe, and got to play this crazy arena thing where you fought some enemies and then heard a line from some story I wasn't able to follow because I was stressing out trying to grab all the potions before the next wave, and then after a hundred waves it gets too hard and I lose everything. I don't know if that pipe is a story thing or a side quest or what, but I hate it.
