  1. Deadlight

Are all these comments based on the trailer, or have they released anything showing sequences of actual gameplay longer than a second?
  2. The Walking Dead

If Sean had voiced it, it would say "This game is rated M for mature. Thanks so much for watching!"
  3. Now that Idle Thumbs, and soon, the web site, is more of a big thing with people dedicated to it, I hope there will be some more video contents in the future, or that the new site at least gets an architecture that will support that well. I get the impression being on camera whilst doing your thing may not be the greatest wish of those involved, but I quite like seeing the occasional face in a video, and there has been some good video stuff up through the years. It would be a shame if you couldn't post a hilarious nonsensical video reportage from some games convention because you hadn't thought of it and it would corrupt the database adapters. I guess there's Youtube, though, so never mind this post.
  4. Fez

Yeah, it's hard to determine whether the whole 3D map thing is merely a genius thing that will at some point "click" and make total sense, or just a terrible thing. It just struck me that one of the things the map has to be 3D to show is which direction the various exits go in. I'm guessing this has to used later on for more complex puzzles, to determine where to look for hidden exits or whatever. Oh, and how do I use the cube teleport thing? The hypercube tells me to "select my destination" but I don't see how.
  5. I turned on the isometric view on the map, and now I have this uncontrollable urge to play Rollercoaster Tycoon.
  6. I Am Alive

Finished it, and I'm pretty happy I did, if only to see where they went with it all (and get the achievement for completing the game...) Turns out they increased the amount of forced combat towards the end, making the whole tactical thing increasingly useless. Also, I got a sweet shotgun I never once fired.
  7. Deus Ex 3

Just thought I'd mention Metro 2033 as a fantastic game that appears to have very much in common with the Stalker games, even though it's very linear. It's great-looking and super-immersive. You feel like you're about to die throughout the whole game.
  8. Deus Ex 3

First of all, thanks for posting in this thread rather than creating a new one or using the terrible "recently completed games" thread. Secondly, yeah, it's great game in almost all aspects; even peripheral stuff like the PC-specific UI (numpad works for entering key codes, mouse wheel actually scrolls tihngs) and multiple autosaves... everything was so polished! My current favourite GDC talk is the one on Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It's obvious the team was really great; they really cared about the franchise, they worked hard and did so much stuff right. Also, they used Excel for so many things, like fully implementing the various hacking mini-games, balancing XP and items across levels. If you have GDC Vault access, you should watch it.
  9. Don't worry about it.
  10. I don't really see how this game relates to Diablo/Torchlight in a big way; what would you say constitutes the heritage? I should mention I haven't played Diablo or Torchlight much, but they strike me as totally different games.
  11. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

It would be hilarious if someone tried something like that in Norway; they would have to wait for days until a tourist came by and pushed it. Unfortunately, a very annoying aspect of my personality prevents me from enjoying videos like that as much as I should, and instead starts trying to piece together how something like that could be done safely and legally.
  12. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

No, sorry for being unclear. I was not trying to equate them, but I wanted to find out what sort of thing would make you understand not wanting to buy a game. So, you understand not buying a game because of always-on DRM, but not because of requiring software that you expect will make playing it a hassle or, in the worst case, impossible?
  13. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Does something like "always-online DRM = no purchase" also boggle your mind?
  14. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

What? Even though they have improved it since the initial release, it's still known for being a terrible pain to install and use.
  15. Oh, so the party is randomly generated? I got a mage that could cast a sweet fire spell right away. By the way, does anyone know why, sometimes, the previous spell is sometimes shown, but usually cleared, when I click on the mage hand?
  16. I've completed 2 levels, and I'm already pretty sure I'm not going to complete it (hearing it has quite a number of levels). It's been fun so far, and really well done; I especially like the use of real-time graphics in a pre-rendered sort of way. However, I don't see me spending hours and hours moving around a grid, fighting awkward groups of men. I never played any of the classic RPGs Grimrock is referencing, so there's no nostalgia, and I guess that makes me less forgiving and more critical of a lot of gameplay aspects, which is fine.
  17. Molyneux interview about 22 Cans

Though I have never loved any of the games he's designed, I really love the character of Peter Molyneux. Even though he's often portrayed as maybe cynically over-selling his games, I genuinely believe he's just super-excited and unable to control himself when speaking about them. For example, when describing the whole Milo thing as this super-advanced quantum leap in AI technology, when it obviously wasn't, I'm sure Peter Molyneux was really talking about what he imagined and wanted to make.
  18. Movie/TV recommendations

My system, in which the longer I watch a show, the longer the period becomes in which the show is allowed to be worse than it would have to be to get me to watch it in the first place, has proven very useful so far. I don't think Community is at its very best right now, but it's been very good for so long it'll have to be pretty bad for pretty long for me not to bother investing the twenty or so minutes a week watching it.
  19. I was super excited about this until I learned it was real-time. I still sort of want to try it. Anyone know if it's save-anywhere?
  20. Will they be released as one stereo MP3 file with the proper cast as one channel, and the book cast as the other?
  21. YOUR WOLD!

I agree. My reaction was meant in a context of it being presented as concept art for a million-dollar game. I actually mean that I would be proud if I had drawn that, though I would be embarrassed by the subject. My deviantART alter ego wouldn't feel any embarrassment, though.
  22. I'm assuming Jake, Chris and Sean, et al. are spending their days/evenings brainstorming the new site, and what to put on there. It must be super-fun and exhausting. Or just super-fun.
  23. YOUR WOLD!

No, I would scan it and post it on my deviantART page.
  24. I Am Alive

Played some more ( ), and I've started running into more and more encounters in which I'm cast into the thick of it and have to be really quick about dropping fools right away before they get too close. Then there are the guys, which... I don't know, I guess they were inevitable, but they make me feel the game is going in a weird shooty direction. I really hope it's just that particular location, and that they manage to maintain the desolate feeling of the game throughout the rest of it. I gotta have passed the half-way marked already. I don't really see much use for the bow; whenever I draw it I get attacked (they're not 'fraid of no bow), and it's not like there's a stealth element to the game, so it's like omg where do you guys want me to use the BOWWWWW.
