Christmas is less than a year off. It hardly seems worth it.

A little too late, rather. Unless the dead guys were even worse.

Pretty sure it's local only. Pretty sure. -
I was able to stock up on breakfast sausage, which means I'll be having awesome Sunday breakfasts for months!

You need to stick to the schedule, Miffy, or stay the fuck out this thread. Nobody said you could just go ahead and play without adhering to the established plan of progression. Jesus. -
This is still happening YOU GUYS

I'm probably just going to wait until people start talking about taking the second one like it's the normal, expected thing to do. -

I've completed the first colossus, so ... I remember that the first time I played through the game, I knew nothing about it other than what the game told me, so I came across the save ruins and lizards all by myself. I probably didn't collect that many, and I certainly never went on a completionist run for all of them, and still managed to finish just fine. If this game was released today, it would have an achievement for finding all the lizards and I would find them all and hate the game. -
Everyone know what this is, so it's that, only now they're doing it all publicly, with voting and videos and humble bundles. Check it out here! Bonus comment: This guy is amazingly good looking: I was listening to all the ideas in the video, and then his chiselled face appeared and I was taken aback and rendered unable to pay attention to his idea.

Yeah, why would it come out in 2013?!

I have this friend who wants to play this DS game called 999, but he lives in Europe and the game hasn't been translated to the Pan-European All-tongue, so he can't buy it. So he asks me «how can I play this game? Is there a legal way? If not, what's the easiest/cheapest way around whatever restrictions are in place? Do I have to buy an American DS? Can I get an American DS here, or are they blocking that as well?» I tell him «stay right here, and I'll fix everything.» I then call Europol and tell them everything, and within minutes they're there, black bagging him and setting charges to demolish his house. Did I do the right thing?

Blargh. Lots of great things, but almost nothing meshed. The main story was the worst. So much style, and so much detailed work that is obviously done by highly skilled people, and it still feels like the biggest waste of time. It's like Ubisoft Montréal has no soul.

Depends on their motivation, I guess. If it's an evil laughing killer I'd try to kill them. If someone mentally unstable came at me, or I was unclear about their motivation (maybe they're thinking I'm out to kill them, and are acting in self defence, or they're being forced to attack me) I'd probably go for a crippling attack. This is, of course, in a fantasy world where I'm able to read people's intentions, quickly analyse their mental state (and being "mentally unstable" is a clear-cut and absolute thing) and kill or cripple anyone or anything.

Shiiiiiiiiiiit. I guess he's a bit of what was cut from the game when they changed course. One of the A's.

Well, only his existence. That's weird, though, right?

You know, the guy you can just barely see in the fog when you're crossing the thing?
-
You won't necessarily found whatever they want close by, so you're better off just exploring everything and hope you find whatever it is. The thing I remember the most about this game is the weird thing that's sort of a spoiler to talk about, but which is also optional and missable, and also reveals a weird thing about the game world. Also I remember that the puzzle aspect of encounters turned out less interesting than they were probably aiming for.

All the hoopla surrounding Darksiders II made me buy Darksiders, since that was apparently great as well, according to the Giant Bomb podcast, which I assume gives sound advice. I've played a little bit of it, and I'm not really hooked. It seems quite simplistic, and based on what I can see in the store, is based on button mashing and combos, things a fan of which I'm not. Is my impression in line with reality? Does it have interesting aspects beside what I assume is a satisfying combat system? What about the sequel (I just bought that, too?) (not really sure about punctuation always being inside the parenthesis ...) Is it more of the same? For some reason I got the impression these games were almost RPGs, but those elements seem pretty light, at least in the first game.

Playing games from other regions (AKA software piracy)
toblix replied to toblix's topic in Video Gaming
Yeah, the thread title was really bad. I was thinking of piracy as the last, terrible resort if doing it legally (or semi-legally) was impossible. I would never resort to piracy to play a game I was unable to buy legally, but my friend probably would. -

How hard is it to get a US 3DS, though? -

I'm caught in this web of lies, and the only way out is to confess: I am that friend. I bought 999 from Ebay for almost nothing, so we'll see how it goes.
