  1. Half-Life 2 Spoiler Thread

    So, anyway.
  2. Half-Life 2 Spoiler Thread

From the Strategay Gayde: Then it goes on about spotting Gman all about town. The suit stuff may just be the introduction to the chapter, though, which also includes stuff about cheat codes and whatnot. All those sequences were just technology demos, and in the Gamespot article they mention the Kleiner's lab sequence in particular as being too long and drawn out. I'm thinking they're considering all those who play HL2 as just another shooter. If it were up to me, there'd be ten times as many (and as long) scripted sequences. They're GRRRRRRREAT!
  3. Half-Life 2 Spoiler Thread

I love those Gman sightings, and they were excellent in HL, Op4, BS and HL2, but I was disappointed to read that the strategy gayde attributed them to some sort of problems with the HEV suit. I hope that's not the official reason...
  4. Half-Life 2 Spoiler Thread

It's funny, but the more I think about it, the more I'm fascinated by the game world HL2 takes place in. And the ending, too. At first I was slightly disappointed, but now I think it's really great.
  5. Half-Life 2 Spoiler Thread

It's something you find behind some tanks on Highway 17. I don't know exactly what it's about, but I'm thinking it's some kind of evolution, like the Combine has some ideas for what the next "step" is or something.
  6. Half Life 2 First Impressions

I just finished the game, and... Also, it won't be six years until the next game. Okay, maybe till HL3, but they'll be releasing more episodic stuff and expansion packs, like Op4 and BS for HL, which were great expansion sets. I'd love an expansion pack that played more with the physics, for example.
  7. Half Life 2 First Impressions

Hey, it's common practice for me to always see how thorough the character designers have been with the ladies. Like in BG&E, I think I could see Jade's panties, too. And the problem with real girls is that they never stand still long enough for me to get a good look down the back of their pants.
  8. Half Life 2 First Impressions

Most importantly though, if you get real close to her and peek down the back of her pants, you can just see Alyx' panties. For me, this was the most important innovation.
  9. Damn Steam

A lot of people seem concerned that they won't be able to play Steamified games in ten to fifteen years. I'm thinking that won't be a problem by then because the system will either still exist, or have been cracked so thorougly it's only a matter of downloading a tiny 3GB* crack and you're off. * Number adjusted for futureness
  10. Flatout

The biggest flaw in this entire game is the focus on the utterly lame ragdoll effects. Whenever my car crashes spectacularly and starts twisting and bouncing all over the place, I want to see it, preferably in slow motion. I do not want to see some half-assed man figure being tossed into the woods acting all unrealistically.
  11. BTG: The Final Hours of Half-Life 2

You don't get a hard copy no matter what Steam package you buy.
  12. Grim Fandango!

Holy schmokes, this game was even better now than before! Last time I played it, I didn't quite finish it, but now that I have, there's only one word to describe it... Oh. My. God. I don't mean the ending (that was slightly disappointing), but the rest of the game... the pacing... the puzzles... the music... the story... the characters... the style! I mean, the graphics are blocky as Hell, but unlike Simon the Sorcerer 3d, they did it with style, with flair! And the dialogue... I haven't checked imdb yet, but am I right if I guess that Jesus Christ did the voice work for this game? I've never played a game like this before and not skip a single line before it's spoken out. The only thing that annoyed me with this game was the controls. The rest, though...excellent. Where was it I read the description of Schafer's style (I think it was around here), something about the brilliant mix of humor and emotion. Really good stuff. Now I'm done:period:
  13. Why you should use Firefox

TBE gives you all kind of fantastical options, but it caused FireFox to crash all the time, a feature it's known for, so I had to uninstall it.
  14. Halo2 WTF?!

Well, I think Halo 2 sucks. The cut-scenes are cool, and the story seems slightly interesting, and the enemies and weapons are very cool, but all the levels suck my dick. I haven't played the entire game (and I'm not sure I'm going to) and I'm not sure how far into it I've come, but it seems to me Bungie loves corridors and long rooms that are all the same. The only sequences worth a crap are the warthog ones, but they're too short, because Bungie quickly finds a reason to make you run into some temple, ship or whatever. And then it's half an hour of rooms that come in two variants connected by the exact same corridors, falling chutes (what's up with those?!) or piston elevators. One part that wasn't vehicle based that I loved, though was... It was almost puzzle-like, which was great. I still think Halo was cooler though.
  15. Why you should use Firefox

    You can, with Tabbrowser Extensions
  16. Outlook vs Thunderbird

What the Hell kind of poll uses checkboxes?
  17. Quest for Glory

The Quest for Glory games rock, and I've played through all of them several times. Oh, how I missed Sierra's quality adventure games.
  18. Kazaa alternatives?

    eDonkey is the new eMule.
  19. Any tips on making reviews?

If you write a review of Silent Hill 4 that's not in Spanish, I'd like to read it. I loved SH2 and 3, but SH4 seems almost impossibly hard, with monsters that can't be killed and stuff!
  20. Hugo's House of Horrors

I don't know if this is exemplary of the rest of the game, but in the Return to Mysterious Island (or whatever it's called) demo, there are approx. a hojillion ways to do stuff.
  21. Maniac Mansion

  22. Grim Fandango!

I'm not entirely sure, but I guess for one thing I thought it was a tad short. Now, I'm one of those people who only consider the ending cinematic to be the real ending. The end game was great. Returning to previous locations at a later time is always cool in games. Also, I guess I don't feel it was as emotional and deep and poetic (or whatever... you know what I mean!) as it had the potential to be, and was at several places in the game. The synchro-recitation at the moon with the captain in Rubacava, for example, is one of the beaootifulest moments in gaming, ever. I guess I thought the ending should be the most emotional sequences of all in the game, but I didn't feel that it was. Even the part where Manny has to say goodbye to Glottis wasn't as touching as it could've been.
