I didn't play it for more than two minutes, but I seem to remember a 2.5D-ness to it.
-
Yeah, I literally came the first time I played the Quake tech demo, walking up stairs and stuff. Looking back, it might've been urine, but nevertheless, the Quake tech demo was totally awesome. Also, making Quake multiplayer levels was really cool. There was a time when level making hadn't become such an art and time consuming endeavour that even I could make a fun multiplayer map.

What "What"? About the mouselook or the 3d? Those engines were never proper 3D, they were some perverted 2,5D(2.5D) stuff with Doom-like levels stacked on top of each other or somesuch. At least that's what I remember from my level editing days.
-
Yeah, they don't even have proper mouselook. Of course, they're not really proper 3d either.
-
I'd play it again, but I'm afraid my graphics-whoredom will take away from my enjoyment. But damn, that is one fantastic game!
-
Yeah, I guess it's all in the expectations. It has more cool stuff than the average shooter: dialogue, factions, story, stuff. But it has less cool, and more shitty stuff than Deus Ex. I hate saying that console games are always "dumbed down" compared to PC games, but there's no other way to describe what's going on with Invisible War. It's the Hitler of Deus Ex games.

It was fucking horrible.

Holy crap I'm loving this. It is running completely smooth with everything set to max, which I haven't experienced in years. But that's irrelevant compared to how totally awesome it is with live action video in a computer game. I had forgot how insanely rewarding and engrossing it is. I don't care how bad the acting is, or how some aspect of it is not considered to be of a high quality -- it totally blows all pre-rendered or in-game cut-scenes to bloody pieces of shit. Maybe with some exceptions, like, I think... Anachronox? Also, It's such a pleasure every time the cute Mrs. Morrison appears in the top right corner of the screen.

The only reason I liked Halo was because of the totally awesome car physics. There was nothing like it in any other game. But now that even text adventures have totally awesome vehicle physics Halo is pretty lame.

I'm always on the lookout for new and exciting games for my DS. The last one I got was Minish Cap, which, you might find interesting to know. Other recent games I've gotten are Rythm Tengoku(?) and Hotel Dusk. I'm thinking about getting Diddy Kong Racing DS, since I liked Mario Kart DS (although I finished it really quick and haven't looked back), and I'm hooked on Picross DS (navigating Japanese menus are one tenth of the fun!). Does anyone have any secret tips on cool DS or GBA games that I haven't explicitly said I own? Any top down 2D adventure RPGs or addictive puzzlers or crazy rythm stuff, or maybe a cool platformer. Remember, I didn't much like Castlevania (why? Because the levels and enemies were all the same, everywhere and then you die and lose everything, and I fucking hate that piece of shit Trauma Center, but I liked Drill Dozer (which someone here recommended) and I bukkake all over stuff like Zelda and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. Wait a minute! Maybe I should finally get that first M&L game! Yeah, that's it. Anyway, don't mind my particular preferences. If there's a fantastic DS game only you know about, the rest of us want to hear it. I think almost everyone here has a DS, right? I'd contribute with a game myself, but, uh, I have to go.

I got it today, and the first thing I want to point out is that installers that play music can fuck off. Vista, however, lets me adjust the volume for all running programs separately, so I could just mute it and continue listening to real music. Anyway, I installed it, and although all the character stuff in the intro was a bit weird, the little driving I did was awesome. Standing by the road, waiting to pull out into traffic was totally awesome. The only thing I missed was an easy (easier than dragging the mouse)way of looking left and right. Another thing I missed was the ability to adjust the gas, so I ordered one of those sets with a steering wheel, a stick and pedals, so when I get that I'll be back on the road. Also I read something about a patch coming in May which corrected, among other things, something about corrupted saves. Already corrupted saves would not be fixed. Does this mean I should wait until the patch is released before investing my hard-earned time?

As a rule, I don't meet internet people. They're all perverts and rapists.

This confuses me. The way you describe it only fools would believe the conclusion that there is about a 90% probability that humans are to blame for global warming (which I believe the latest big report said). You're not even a metorologist, but you saw how useless all the science was, and here thousands of proper meteorologists still base their work on them. What the Hell?

The secret mode is the game.
-
Sure. No. Disclaimer: I'm completely agreeing with you. I'm only pointing out that there are still people who don't agree with the consensus, and that we shouldn't ignore them. They aren't all crazy nuts.

What the Hell, I'll buy it. It's been ages since I played a racing game, and I have to use this computer for something. So, is there a friend code system or what? [Rating pending] out of 5

That's right, at least if you don't count the AAPG, but that's just, like, thirty thousand people or something. My point is that saying 100% of the scientists on Earth agrees on this stuff is nonsense. Of course they don't.

Shut up! Shut your mouth!

Tengoku was cool, but once I'm done with that kind of game, I'm done. That's why I like games like Phoenix Wright, Zelda and Mario & Luigi so much. I want to play a game once and still experience all the stuff. Games that are based on being played over and over, like Meteos and Tetris, I get bored of quickly. Points and high scores and unlockables don't interest me much.
-
You know, I'm almost embarrassed to say. I never heard about it until a demo was released. But when I saw that it was 3D I lost interest right away...

This is the best interactive slapstick I've ever seen. I could play this for hours. And by play I mean throw cubes at.

Inspired by me? Fuck that. As I said in another thread, I don't hate most games. It's just that writing about fun games isn't that interesting. For example, I didn't post about Half-Life 2 or any of the Myst games or Commandos 2 or KOTOR 2, because I thought they were fun. The games that suck are the ones that are fun to complain about, like that piece of shit Trauma Center. Anyway, I also think threads like these are boring. Instead, I'll talk some more about Minish Cap. This is one fun game. The stuff with the shrinking is awesome. Do the 3D Zeldas also have some alternate world thing going, like dark world, past world, underworld, different season world, giant world (when you're tiny) and so on? That one with the three days that you have to do something before they are over and stuff sounds pretty fun, although it also sounds like a game where you have to time shit and do things in sequence or you die. Oh, and Desperados rocks. It's totally a Commandos clone, but the quick actions and the character abilities and the graphics(!) and the levels are awesome. And I love Myst games, although the multiplayer stuff... not so much. And man does that Fallout 3 teaser site tease me good. When I heard Bethesda were making FO3 I immediately knew it wasn't going to be a "real" Fallout game. It would be first person, real time, all that shit. I'm also sure of that now, even though they got all the great voices back (McGyver and Pearlman!), but there's just something about teasers and stuff being announced and close to release. It was like that with Vista. I was totally not going to get Vista, but the day it was released I got drunk with hype and got it as fast as I could. Also, I'm handing in my master's thesis in just over a month, and when I do I'm going to get me a sweet objective. June 15th, you will rock. It seems I won't be playing any more MGS3. I'm sad to say I've tried so many times without any luck (or much enjoyment), and after a period of time without access to the PS2 I'm just not interested anymore, which is a huge shame because I'm sure it's a completely and totally awesome game once you, I dunno, get the hang of it. Having destroyed this thread seed of hate, hopefully other threads, threads of love, will thrive once again. Threads like "What is your favourite game mechanic?" and "On what level of a game do you usually start to cry?". I had a discussion once about whether the Myst games were, in fact, games. I thought it was, and said so, but I also argumented poorly, and since this was a newsgroup that was it for the discussion. I don't know if the question of whether something is a game or not even interests me any more. But if someone here hates Myst, or "don't get what people like about those pretty slideshows", I'm ready.

This seems really cool. It is, however, the first game where I'm stuck right away. Anyone feel like sharing a clever hint?

I had totally figured that out already. Thing is, I started with the advanced techniques, using the gun, the boxing glove, but forgot to just click. I mean it's pretty obvious that there's something you're supposed to do when... It's like the Hana Barbera effect of adventure games!
