So is this thread about games that have aged?
-
All the levels are redone with the quality of Legends, i.e. no tiles. As I understand it the story and general structure of the levels are the same, but they've changed some and added some to make it more interesting. I can remember the starting levels from the little I played of Tomb Raider 1, but it's nothing like it graphically, controllally or tilelly.

I should start my own review site! I'd call it Idle... something. Judging from those threads I just read I should probably call it Idle Fuck. Or Idle Cunt. Man, I really go overboard with the swearing when I meet a little resistance in games.
-
Legends was totally awesome, and you should try it. I'd maybe play it after Anniversary, though. And the T-Rex was easy (once I figured out how to kill it).
-
That's totally awesome. Is it always on, though, or is it a triggered "unbalanced state" or something? Or maybe you aren't actually making the game.
-
Isn't the next Indy game supposed to have stuff like this, or is that just more advanced animation blending?

I'm both looking forward to and... the opposite of that, to this happens. For example, in a game like GTA, who would dare to do anything if people reacted completely human...ly? Obviously we'll reach the point where they look completely human long before they act like it, but won't almost all gameplay concerning human (or animal) interaction be impossible for most people? I wouldn't dare playing Test Drive Unlimited if I risked causing a horrible accident with "real" characters dying and crying and acting all human. I would be a totally horrible sight to behold! And FPS games? Those would start actually becoming Jack Thompsons' killing sims. Or are we going to "adapt" to this? Will we always be able to distance ourselves from even the most realistic VR-projected experience of murdering people, just because we know it's not real? If any of you have played some of that Sumotori Dreams game, I've been thinking. The self-balancing algorithm in that game is pretty amazing. In a couple of years, we'll probably have lots more stuff like that. Characters that are essentially "rag-dolls" all the time, who'll trip and fall down stairs and break limbs, try to get up, I don't know. Aren't we approaching a more and more horrible and unbearable gaming experience? Will all future games have to adopt some wild and crazy art style to make it feel unreal? Also, the text formatting stuff is broken. I've said it before!

Having just watched that Haze video, what the fuck?
-
And Braid, even though I recently read a preview that fucking spoiled the fucking ending in fucking detail. And what's Haze?
-
This is a good time to not either not yet having been born or not to already being dead. Gameswise.
-
No. Actually, I'd prefer it if you had to. As it is you can drive around as you like without consequences. I'd be cooler if you had to be extra careful. But whatever.

I just upgraded from my first car, the Audi TT cabriolet, to the Ferrari 575M Maranello. Holee shit.
-
Is it just that they suck at chasing me, then? I just leave them in the dust?
-
Oh. Well, that's great. Speeding sucks. Except in games. Then it's the only way to travel.
-
What? How do I get a ticket? I've driven like a maniac almost all the time, and there's some cop stuff at the top of the screen, and some radio chatter, but I've never been in a police chase or anything. How does it work? Also, I long for the driving game where the player is encouraged to follow traffic laws. The more you feel you are doing something wrong, the more fun it is to push it to the metal (or whatever it's called) and have near-misses and stuff.
-
The problem is that everything else is shit.

Great, thanks!

I'm currently not into the online stuff. I tried it once, but everyone had Ferraris and left me in the dust, so I went back to the single player. Playing it with a wheel makes all the difference for me, as driving is so fun I never use the ability to "teleport" to a new race. Instead I mark it off on my GPS and drive there. Cruising on the freeway is really cool. The island feels huge! And the races and challenges are easy enough (for now) to master in a few goes, and retrying is quick and painless. I still feel like I haven't quite figured it out yet. Currently I'm just doing races and challenges around the island. I don't know if I "unlock" more of them as I go, or what. Anyway, great game if you have a steering wheel controller.

Holy shit, the one with born from an egg on a mountain top and all that?

More like Minish Crap! Okay, everyone complaining about my complaining, listen the fuck up. I just finished Oracle of [seasons/Ages] and immediately started playing Minish Cap. And this... this game... it's fantastic! And why? It has wonderful 2d graphics, like a Mario & Luigi Partners in Zelda! Also, the dialogue makes more sense, the movement and animations are much smoother. The sound and music is better. The first dungeon, although I'm only halfway through, is excellent! Why aren't there more 2D Zeldas? I mean, even Phantom Hourglass is 3D, right? Why? I don't know what the reasons are exactly, but I have loved every 2D Zelda game I've played, and hated all the 3D Zelda games. Granted, I've only played one 3D Zelda, and that was Ocarina of Time, but still... Even Twilight Princess looks kind of dull. Anyway, Minish Cap rocks! Stay tuned for my complaining about it when it suddenly gets hard.

Although, couldn't I just restart the DS when I die and then reload with the potions I had when I saved? Anyway, it doesn't matter as I tried it again, and completed the game. Not a big fan of the end boss, but the game overall is totally excellent.
-
Yeah, I see that there's not much else in the way of negative feedback from the game than taking away health. I find puzzly boss fights, like in SotC, a lot more interesting, but I guess there's a limit for that, both in terms of technology and Zelda tradition. Anyway, something I just thought off that really pisses me off is that when I have died, I can't just start over. I have to travel all the way back to that witch to buy more potions. And I guess I may run out of money too, so I have to grind to be able to continue where I left off. That's just terrible.

I got my new steering wheel set thingie up and running today. Driving with it is completely awesome. Keyboard driving can kiss my ass. Now, to complete my thesis so the wheel can be permanently mounted in front of my monitor.

Well, since I had only died once before I was sort of expecting it. Yeah, but dying isn't the problem. Being forced to replay a boss fight, the very nature of which is repetitive action, is. Yeah, I got that. Then I ran back through the dungeon and was attacked by the next form. And died. And had to start all over. Yeah, I can see that. I'm already itching to try this boss again, though, and I'll definitely get Phantom Hourglass. I always say I'll never try again, but then I do anyway. Except with that fucking piece of shit Trauma Center. So a game is something that forces you to try the same thing over and over again? Or are you making a comment based on other stuff I've said, too? I agree with this. Still, I can see both angles here: "Easy boss" makes for a smooth, fun ending for me. "Hard boss" makes for much work with high feeling of delicious achievement for others. Obviously the ending should be epic, and it could be hard to reach. But it shouldn't force the player to play through the exact same thing over and over just to perfect some pattern. That sounds totally awesome. Do you have to start all over if you die, though? Again, awesome. Again, repetitive shit?I have to repeat that when I complain about a game that suddenly gets hard I always exaggerate my hate for it. I'll definitely try again, but like with that shit game Trauma Center, every time I fail I wait a bit longer, and then other games come along, and then... fuck that. Also, I want to repeat that I also like some games.

Here it comes. So, I thought, Minish Cap being a "newer" game, it would be a little less hardcore and a bit more forgiving. A bit easier. And it was. The bosses were just hard enough so that I didn't die but only just. On the flying boss I died once, but the teleports made the second, successful, try easy to attempt. So what in the fucking cunt is the deal with the final boss? Do they really expect me to try and defeat all those fucking... forms in one try, with only three red bottles? Why doesn't it at least save between forms? At least I would have expected it to save when I had to run through a dungeon between two forms. Having to do it from start again plain sucks. This was really disappointing. I guess I won't be buying Phantom Hourglass after all. Bring on the Phoenix Wright!
