I'll just echo most everyone else here and say that while I'm still not convinced censorship is a good thing, this time it's pretty fucking close. On the one hand it's good, in a way, that this is what it takes to spark debate, and not a work of art with any real value, censored for political or other reasons. On the other hand, I feel the entire principle of free speech is sullied by having to defend this. By the way, this isn't written based on the montage alone, since taking it out of context like that is in many ways pointless. But no matter what context you put these sequences in there's no way this has any substance in and of itself worth arguing for, and I'm disappointed by Rockstar for using their name on this trash, having enjoyed the GTA games so much. It's obvious a lot of people have been hard at work making this game, and I wonder what they're all thinking. I wonder what kind of mood or spirit is prevalent in the offices of people animating the finishing moves, texturing the bloody bashed neck stumps, programming the blood spray effects and recording the gurgling sounds of all these sequences. It must be exhausting.

James Earl Jones couldn't save that piece of shit.

And if a game is too cheap, like the Orange Box? Seriously, that was too fucking cheap.
-
So the question is: If a game is mediocre, and too long, should it be made better or shorter? And conversely(?), and even crazier, if a game is excellent, but too short, should it be made longer or more mediocre?

So, hint time: I've gotten the third piece of the map, and two of the three... I got the ones from the... ...and the In addition to these two, I've discovered the... ...where I... ...and am now... ...and the... ...which seemed really... So, where do I go now? I thought maybe I had to... ...but I've... What do I do?

Jesus Mary and Joseph fucking Christ is this game long. It's fucking fucking long. Fuck!

Great stuff. I've always interpreted putting being too short up as a con when reviewing a game as sort of an ironic (or whatever) remark or something, like a variant of putting something as both a pro and a con, but I guess it can be equated to saying the same thing about food. When someone says that it was good, but not enough, they're either being clever or gluttonous. If they're clever, yay. But if they're the kind of people who think quantity is the most important property of a serving of food, they shouldn't be writing food reviews. Game reviews. Ah, forget it.

If you're going to kill yourself, at least wait until after you've seen this!

So, I went to look at an apartment today. It's about time to leave the old nest, etc. So, I went and looked, and I liked it, and thought about it a bit, and then suddenly it hits me: Holy fucking shitting shit! and now I can't sleep.

So let's say I want to make the most awesome game ever in Flash. Would I use the Flash IDE to do that, or would I use something like Flex Builder or FDT? Maybe a porn game.
-
Are people making Flash games really using Adobe Flash to make them, or is there an IDE that doesn't suck?
-
I've played it a bit. It's just like the previous one, if you've played that. You have to really horny to spot footprints and torn textile samples to enjoy it.

This is a fact: I started watching CSI: New York because I think Gary Sinise is cool, but I stopped after a couple of episodes, when a computer screen in their high tech lab displayed "HOMOCIDE CONFIRMED!"

People are having different opinions! This is going to be awesome!

Well, now that I've completed both Episode 2 and Portal twice (once with commentaries), it's just a matter of waiting for the next games. Are they going to do another Box with Episode 3, too, or was the Orange Box just a coincidence of sorts? I also expect Portal 2 (or whatever it'll be called ) to be announced shortly. I never expected Portal to be so thoroughly loved by everyone as it was. Surely they have big plans for it now. I love it when other people love the same things as me, so people make more of it. So, let's see. HL2 was released in November 2004, Episode One June 2006, Episode Two October 2007. That's intervals of nineteen months and seventeen months, respectively. That means we can expect Episode 3 early 2010? Jesus, that's... crazy. I'll be an old man by then. And let's not forget Half-Life 3.

Well, it's on! Tomorrow we'll know who's got the bigger bag of money. ..or the biggest balls.
-
Well, it's not really an east egg, since it's listed as an accomplishment right from the start.

Isn't the explanation for why Valve uses so long to make games is that they make fucking excellent games? I think other developers should start spending more time on their games (it's that simple, right) so every game will be that excellent.

From Gamespot : Alright, next quote. What the fuck?! This is it, this is the evidence that proves my constant suspicion I've borne ever since I saw my first video of Japanese squid porn: Japan is crazy.Or is it just me? Aren't Japanese games always the most frustratingly difficult games? Don't they always have the worst saving system? Don't they always make games that require that you're sitting with a printed copy of half of GameFAQs next to your computer?

No, it's just that I've been living at home for the last 24 years, and suddenly I'm all into this shit with buying something costing more money than I'll ever see and having to insure, fucking... shit, I dunno. And just... it's so crazy. In a matter of weeks my life may be totally different, who knows? Anyway, that was the holy shit part. edit: Also, I can't get Still Alive out of my head!
-
Actually, once the first portal has been drawn, drawing the rest is simply a matter of copying the image of the portal into itself, so the performance hit isn't proportional to the number of visible portals at any given time. Still, you can adjust the depth of portal rendering in the settings, the maximum being 9. I noticed a slight lag when setting it to 9, so I ended up with 6, I think. I still couldn't see the "end of the tunnel" though, so setting it to 3 or four should still be enough, and not too stressful on your computer either.

First, give me credit for not writing 'Mystary'. Also, did anyone find the name and possible more info on the cool flash-esque game where you play this silhouette running around with sliding crates and gears and shit?
-
Exactly! I know most people are able to (and indeed do) enjoy playing games that just go on and on until they get either too hard or too boring. Sometimes I have short periods where I play these games. Once I played Tetris a lot for about a week, and... well, maybe that's it. I'm still playing Picross, for example, but that's only because there's a finite set of man-made puzzles, and when I've completed them all I'll never play it again.
-
So, then my question would be "then why play it at all?" and I guess the answer to that would be something about it being fun, right?
