  1. Mata Hari

I remember Hal Barwood talked about this when he was interviewed in one of Warren Spector's lectures. He mentioned something about there being some mini-games and mentioned the "token system" mentioned in the game features secion. I remember not being amazed when he described it, but I think it's along of the lines of not distinguishing between physical inventory and abstract clues and pieces of information. A key to a door is treated the same as the code to a safe or the knowledge that the police commisioner is gay, in every way.
  2. Mister RRoD comes to town...

The only problem I've had with mine is a "disc is unreadable" error while playing Assassin's Creed. It gave me the creeps, but I've never had any trouble since.
  3. Where is everyone?

What the hell has happened here? The boards are dead! Are you all on Steam or something?
  4. Lame

Sorry to hear it. I promise I'd buy an Idle Thumbs game no matter what, though.
  5. Mass Effect

    What?
  6. Mass Effect

Fuck that. They should be working on the sequel.
  7. Ziggy! Nooooooo

    I-- what?
  8. Spore Screen Names

Okay, I tried this today: The whole 2D cell-thing was awesome, with the huge monsters in the background. The on-land part seemed a bit simple and boring. I went around and killed guys WoW style, and got offspring. That offspring can be completely different from the parents is lame. So fucking lame. What "game mode" constitutes the bulk of the game time? It seemed the first mode was like an intro, and the second one too simple too keep playing for long. After that, there's, what, the RTS part? Are there multiple levels of that, too? It seemed to me the whole creature building stuff is extremely simplified, so much so that it's strictly visual, with the only actual game play changes being a direct result of the number of attachments you have on your guy, everything else (placement, shape, colour, etc.) meaning nothing. Am I wrong? Is multiplayer more than just races being imported between players?
  9. Fallout 3: Proving the haters are right?

What's up with guys in games saying things like "I represent certain... interests"? Guys in movies never say that.
  10. Grand Theft Auto IV

I often find myself out of guns. It seems they've tuned the ammo/weapon abundance somewhat since San Andreas. Can I get weapons some other way than buying them? Do they drop off of guys I kill or what?
  11. Grand Theft Auto IV

So I get this mission way the Hell on the other side of town and figure I'll try a taxi. Everything goes fine until we get stuck in traffic on the bridge. I tell the driver to hurry it up, and he goes "fine!", backs up the cab and... goes off the bridge and into the sea. As we're floating in the cab, I hit Y to get out and the driver says "I guess I can let you off here". Swimming next to his car now, I pay the man and watch him sink down into the darkness. He never even tried to get out. Second try: I catch another taxi. Right away I can tell this guy can't possible have a license -- which he confirms at one point-- as he gets on the bridge using the wrong ramp, against traffic. As we get on the bridge on the wrong side, he doesn't choose the right toll booth either. Since there's nobody to take his change on the driver's side he just goes on through, breaking the gate post. All of a sudden there are three or four police cars chasing us. Although the driver takes it easy, he always manages to avoid the police cars. I think the cops killed about fifty people chasing us, mowing down pedestrians and running cars off the road. After five minutes of "chasing", they cops manage to surround the taxi, get out and start firing into the car American cop style. After a few seconds the cab catches on fire and I try to get out. However, all the doors are blocked by police cars and boom!, everyone dies in a fire. Even though this is all the result of buggy taxi AI, it's the most fun I've had in this game. And that says something, because this game is awesome.
  12. Freeze, Police!

From this article: Norwegian police have fired 12 shots in the last six years. I find this number to be awesome.
  13. Let's play Castle Crashers!

I bought it today and played it for a bit. I can see how this can be hilarious and awesome when played with other people.
  14. Freeze, Police!

For a moment there, I thought it said "Oh good!"
  15. Mass Effect

Just listened to Vigil again. So awesome.
  16. Grand Theft Auto IV

I'm on to something here. Maybe everyone who plays this think the angle is a bit too low, only most people don't know it.
  17. Let's play Castle Crashers!

    This sounds pretty awesome.
  18. Let's play Castle Crashers!

Okay, so does this have multiplayer coop? Locally and/or over Live? Do you save the characters or progress? Tell me EVERYTHING!
  19. Let's play Castle Crashers!

toblix complains? What the fuck! I loved Double Dragon. In the early 90s. Just kidding, this sounds awesome. Maybe it'll be more fun than GTA IV with its low camera angles.
  20. Let's play Castle Crashers!

So, it's a 2d side-scrolling fighter like Double Dragon, right?
  21. Grand Theft Auto IV

Yeah, the select button toggles between among other views three behind-the-car perspective, but the angle's the same on them all. Of course, if you get used to this, no problem. I just feel like I don't see right in front of the car.
  22. My real name has two ø's in it. Also, I'll probably buy a PS3 soon, so I can play Uncharted, MGS4 and Heavy Rain. That Little Big Planet game? I don't get it.
  23. Call of Duty 4

Totally awesome. Being a sucker for scripted events, I can hardly complain when the game itself is just one big scripted event. I really get this intense movie-like feeling, and even though I often get killed, the rapid checkpoint-loading makes everything flow perfectly. I must say I like these newfangled health-regenerating games.
  24. Assassin's Creed

Just continued playing this. I know I'm hard to please but Jesus. I may of course have missed some huge point, but so far this seems to be the simplest game produced in a while. The huge cities are awesome, and the controls sometimes border on perfect, but it seems like what you're supposed to do in the game, the missions... there are like five different types. I was hoping for some Hitmanesque stuff, or at least the ability to "play it cool" and kill the target and then disappear into the crowd. Instead there's a huge fucking chase. It seems to be unavoidable, but I could just be failing at playing.
  25. Assassin's Creed

I'll just keep talking to myself. I just looked it up on Wikipedia, and it said this: All of these, of course, sound more fun than the standard ones, strengthening my impression that the developers were just on the brink of starting to make the game kick ass in lots of ways when they had to/were forced to release it. This makes me look forward to the (confirmed, anyone?) sequel even moahr.
