Dear Idle Forums: I've completed GTA IV, and the following achievements remain locked: Come first in 20 singleplayer street races. All friendship achievements Pigeons Stunt jumps Meet all random characters Complete the story missions in less than 30 hours. Achieve 100% progress All multiplayer achievements, except the viral Rockstar one, which I got from my first kill. Part of me wants to try to get at least a couple more of these. For example, by getting all friendships to 90% I'll get like four achievements and 50 gp! My question is this: Should I keep it up? Should I spend the extra hours slowly building up friendships, finding all the guys and jumps and shit? I almost want to, but not really. I just answered my own question. Thank you, Idle Forums. - toblix

Idle Thumbs 2: The Fanboy's Lament
toblix replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Am I the only one who can't listen to a podcast while anything? I just lie down in my bed and stare up. -
Left 4 Dead looks fucking win-derful.
-
Awesome list. Thanks! Still, you didn't quite fool me with that photography of a F1 race track.
-
Isn't one of the Zelda games like that?
-
Okay, I just finished the last mission. Then, during the end credits, when the camera was revealing the statue of happiness, I got a "disc unreadable" error. Then, after loading up the game again, the game started right at the beginning of the end credits. Awesome. Anyway, I'm back to watching the end credits.

Idle Thumbs 2: The Fanboy's Lament

Awesome (and timely!), but... toe-blix? What the fuck, men? Also, more Peter Molyneux impressions. I don't even know how he really talks, but that was hilarious. Are you figuring things out with regards to how often you'll release a new episode, or is there going to be one every week? Maybe next week you can talk a bit about how GTA IV can suck my ass, and how video games are much easier these days -- but only until right before the end! -
Fuck this! Fuck GTA IV! Fuck Rockstar! Fuck their fucking motorcycle! Fuck the fucking last mission! Fuck the fucking ramp and the motherfucking chopper! Did they not play test this game?! It was like this in San Andreas too -- awesome and fantastic and then you're toward the end and bam! they fuck you right up the old asshole. I'm this close to breaking the fucking DVD. HEY ROCKSTAR! MAYBE YOU SHOULD SPEND A LITTLE LESS MONEY ON FANCY INTRO LOADING PICTURES AND MORE MONEY ON KICKING THE PEOPLE WHO MADE THE FINAL MISSION IN THE MOUTH! THIS IS GTA IV NOT "GROUNDHOG DAY THE GAME"

Wouldn't put it past them, the bastards. With all these border-erasing distribution technologies everywhere, I wonder how long it will be before there's no such thing as a US release or a European one.
-
HAHAHAHA! Also, fuck Europe and their extra six moon levels.
-
I have abstained from GTA multiplayer so far, and I can't wait to try it.
-
I tried doing a thing with the chopping. Maybe it didn't go so well.
-
I'm gonna use it to buy weapons for completing that car explosion achievement. Then, who knows. I've got the rolling one left, too. And the stunt jump and flying rats. I don't know about those...
-
Could it be that it's just the sound of the helicopter rotor? It makes sort of a chopping sound. Have you tried watching Japanese cooking shows on it?
-
Does it work without the helicopter?

I have this urge to avoid buying BluRay movies. It feels like buying something from Steam -- paying for something I'm not really in control of and may disappear at any moment.
-
Without having played it, I assume MGS4 is better than any Blu-ray (or BLURAY COMPUTER ENTERAINMENT DISC or whatever)
-
Well, fuck me. After completing every mission in the game on the first or second try, I'm now at my fifth attempt at the last mission. I'm not complaining or anything, but I wouldn't mind a checkpoint maybe after I've Fuck.

No, I was seriously starting work on a Java based audio physics middleware, using Idle Forums as a code repository. public interface Sound{ public void play(); public void loop(); public void stop(); public void setPhysics(Physics physics);
-
I'll start. public class SoundPhysicsMiddleware extends AbstractMiddleware{ public static void main(String[] args){ } }

For those that aren't in the club, there are (from memory) these sections: 100% club - only available to those with 100% completion Physical challenges - achievements based on how far you've traveled in various modes and how many times you've died, got arrested, etc. There's a map that shows activity by sector in the city, weapon stats, etc. There's a running total / leader bord of total earned money A story section for when you've completed the game
