The All New XBox Gamertag Exchange Thread!
toblix replied to ThunderPeel2001's topic in Multiplayer Networking
What, really? -
I just played this for a bit, and it was fun. I guess you'd need to play with great folks, though, not the average cunt.

How about everybody list the days of the week they're likely to be able to play on, and then we take it from there? Me: All the days

The All New XBox Gamertag Exchange Thread!

Uh, it's toblix. -
I'm actually glad they're not spending a minute creating new locations. I feel Liberty City is so huge and well made, it has room for shitloads of new stories and even new types of gameplay. I think telling more and different stories in this city will only make it richer. I can easily imagine playing a dozen different games in this city alone. It's like a more powerful version of the experience I had when Half-Life, Opposing Force and Blue Shift crossed paths. The result really exceeded the sum of the individual, uh, you know. And, while I'm at it, that is again a more powerful version of being able to see places you've already been. I noticed Uncharted did this to some extent, and Mirror's Edge a lot. You'd run across rooftops and into a building, take the elevator up a zillion floors, and when you step out you can look out a window and see the rooftops you crossed, tracing the route you took. I'm just a huge fan of that kind of stuff.

I have no friends, so I'll be able to make it.
-
Fucking yes. This is exactly what I was hoping for. More story and some more sandbox shit to do.
-
I really noticed the speed increase in Mirror's Edge after installing it to the hd.
-
They probably tried retrofitting the completely new and released today avatars into already released games like Gears of War and Table Tennis, but then decided that this would only be possible with games that haven't been released yet.

What? Oh, it's not like I want the parallax scrolling to be bad. I just can't imagine what one that's "off" would look like, and I'm curious to experience it. I've never seen "bad" parallax scrolling before, I think, and I love a good parallax scrolling. To me, it sounds about as interesting as the Dead Space HUD did -- I gotta see it to know what the fuck you're talking about.
-
It seems almost unthinkable that someone would get parallax scrolling wrong in 2008. I can't wait to see for myself.
-
I can't play it yet, but this sounds interesting -- what do you mean?
-
If you don't like the version in the first season, you're up for some horrible surprises.

I'm getting towards the end now (I have two chapters left I think), and I haven't yet experienced being forced into these super hard fights. There have been a couple of rooms that needed clearing, and one "special" fight, but nothing like what I've heard around the webs. Thus far, picking up a gun has never even entered my mind. We'll see what the final chapters bring, though. As we all know, when a game gets towards the end it usually gets stupid in some manner, like suddenly becoming impossible, or forcing you to repeat huge amounts of shit because checkpoints all of a suddenly become a rarity. Of course, Uncharted is exempt from all these accusations.

Idle Thumbs Special UK Report: "Live at the Eurogamer Expo"
toblix replied to Marek's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Although the podcast was awesome, I found the background noise to be irritating, especially with it being present in both long segments. Of course, I don't know what you'd be able to do about that. -
Is there another entrance to the caves, then? I seriously couldn't find anywhere to go.
-
Jesus, this game is awesome but I can only play about 20 minutes at a time before I freak out and quit. I had just discovered the elementary school near the starting area, and after clearing it out I stepped outside into the exterior of the ruins, saw the vista of gray desolation and got filled with this horrible emptiness. Oh, by the way, about the school:

Downloading the latest episode is slow as my ass. How about using BitTorrent? I, for one, would seed like a motherfucker, and I wouldn't have to spend forty minutes downloading it.
-
No, there's an achievement for completing without firing a gun. You'll have to rely on hand to hand combat, but that's the most developed type of combat anyway.
-
After watching the intro for the first couple of episodes of a season, I usually put it on 1.5x or 2.0x because it becomes comical.
-
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the forced fighting (which I only assume is forced because I don't see any alternatives, and when I've kicked all their asses the guy on the radio says some thing to keep me moving), but at least I'll probably get some sweet achievements from going all Matrix on they ass, with wall running, flying slow-motion kicks, etc.

Yeah, 30 Rock is brilliant.

I've just finished chapter two, and so far: The feeling of this game is fantastic. The colors and the music and the sounds... it's like nothing I've ever played, or nothing like anything I've ever played. Or never played. I think the try and fail structure must be almost inevitable in a game like this. With the checkpoints so generously placed and the quick reload time, I prefer that to, say, always ending up in holes and having to climb back up or something. Again, the colors. White and bright red and green and yellow, and the blue sky and aaaaaaahhhh, I'll just head back.
