Idle Thumbs XI-2: The Legend of Big Bird's Bones
toblix replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
This is awesome. It's incredible that you manage to release these so regularly and with such consistently high quality. I don't know how much editing goes on (if it's just inserting sound effects and jingles or actually paring the dialogue down to make it more focused) but the result is fantastic. It also helps a lot that (it seems to me) you're using high quality audio equipment for recording and not some Logitech gadget. My favorite parts are the more original game-based tangents like Gordon Freeman being crazy, and I still remember the thing with the Jurassic Park game breaking your TV speakers. Hee-larious! -
Grand Thumb Auto 7: Going out with a bang

All right! Fun to the maximum limit! I really wish the mission based modes were randomized more, especially the "America, it's good to be back!" one. -
I'll be up for that when I've gotten through the story, for sure.
-
Holy shit, I'm playing through the story and keep getting impressed by what they're doing with this engine. I've never seen anything like this.

Not if the plane is perpendicular to the surface, which I thought was what was going on.
-
If you're using an UWV mapping plane, you should rotate it around the thingie.

Holy moly, Valve has recently forced me and my countrymen to pay in Euros instead of Dollars, which means it'll be cheaper to buy the games in retail stores again. Are Valve free to make pricing decisions on their own, or are they bound by publisher contracts in some way? Maybe this varies from game to game, I dunno. Anyway, disappointed!

Bought it today, and it's awesome. Some questions: Can you do a multiplayer game with two guys on each machine? I see there's some voice chat thing, but is this often used? Do I have to buy an expensive Bluetooth device to be respected in LBP? Jesus Christ, this game is pretty.
-
I played this today, and lo! it jumped to the top of my list. I'm going to finish Resident Evil 4, really, but I have to get this game right away. Jesus Fucking Christ.

So, I've reduced my "currently playing" stack down to RE4, which I started playing way back. I'm a bit past the point where I pick up the girl. After going from one typewriter to the next, I was about to vomit with fear, and did the thing where I tell myself "nice going, you've made some progress. You can pick this up again later," and I really just want to stop playing a scary game. Obviously I'll spend a million years on this game if I stop playing after every typewriter I come to. So, is there a way of subduing this feeling of dread and let me get on with playing my fucking game? Is there a point on my skull I can drill into? It's like this with all these scary games, and I hate being such a pussy about it.

Yeah. It was no problem once I figured out I could enter redecorate mode.
-
Awesome! I put on some music, and it's no problem. Until I come to the cabin and there are like a million guys coming in through the windows.
-
I've found that the fear is nonexistent when I'm not alone, so maybe putting on a podcast or talk radio might be a solution. I'll try that.

My brother got this for Christmas from an awesome human being, and he tells me it's pretty good, also for achievements.

I'm up like a pup. -
Grand Thumb Auto 6: Merry Crashmas and a Happy New Smear
toblix replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Multiplayer Networking
Yeah, there's going to be another one on Tuesday next week. I'd start a new thread, but the name of this one sort of covers both sessions, so I dunno. If someone can think of something more New Years-y to call it, go right ahead. Anyway, I'm up for next week, and I got the impression at least Wrestle was also up for it too, as well. -
I remember getting an erection on the Mardi Gras level because of all the people. Also, doesn't the game force you to play each mission in one sitting? I remember the save/checkpoint system being super assy. Anyway, I gave up on the wheelboat mission, but I sort of regret it. Maybe I'll buy it on Steam-- oh wait, it's probably a million euros.

That was awesome, yeah. Sorry for being so much better than the rest of you in that last game, totally annihilating you with my starting weapon, slaughtering you as if though I were a God and you lesser beasts. -

Due to unforeseen events, I probably won't make it tonight after all. I'm terribly sorry, but at least for once you won't have to listen my constant talking. -
Yeah, I just cheated and got a million, bought the castle, did the rest of the achievements. Basically, I was so disappointed with this game I feel it owes me as many achievements as possible. I began doing the bonus quest, but got to the place where you have to be really quick with a target spell and shooting to open a gate, and then I thought "what the fuck am I doing. I don't care about anything this game has to tell me. I'm not getting an achievement for this," so I went and got the treasure instead. Now I've gotten all possible achievements, and the ones remaining are The Completionist (My dog is dead, so I can't get all the expressions for it. Also, I read that you actually have to buy the pub games thing to get the final one, a fact that can suck my dick) and all the multiplayer ones.
-
God damn it. I've finished the game, and have one gargoyle head remaining -- the one inside Castle Fairfax, the entry to which is gonna cost me... ONE MILLION DOLLARS So, I'm at about 250k and earning about 10k per five minutes, which means I'll have to leave the Xbox running for about, let's see... six and a half hours. edit... Or I can start on the silver keys... Jesus. Also, funny story: While getting all three ending achievements in one go, I RRODed. I chose the first card, got the achievement and turned off immediately. Then, when I turned it on, I got the RROD. It is the one with 3/4 red segments, right? After turning it back off and letting it rest for ten seconds, it was back to normal.

What? I seem to remember it was a definite limit that they removed in a patch.

What, you accept donations? -
But my point is (or at least it is now) that they haven't matched retail price -- they've exceeded it. Steam is now a worse deal than buying a boxed version in a store.
