WELL HOLY FUCKING SHIT! Moving the pedal closer to me made a world of difference. No more burning thighs and exploding crotch. No more twitchy, mechanical footwork. Hello smooth, asynchronous bass drums, played as though my foot springs a mind of its own and decides to make hot sex with the pedal. I swear, at times I feel like a drum god.

90°, huh? That's novel. I'll try it when I get home.

What, the five hundred repetitive drum patterns one?

Okay, so I'm getting slightly better. Keeping the pedal pedalled between pedallings is nice, and it really helps on the slower, more even beats, but when the tempo rises I still cramp up, even though I'm lifting my heel off the floor. I wonder if the placement's off. I place it like I like my car pedals -- as far away as I can while still being able to reach them. Either the placement's off or I just have get used to it. Anyway, it's still awesome, and the more immediate connection to the music makes everything more fun.

Holy shit, your drum tips are both awesome and new to me. I'll try them out tomorrow. Keeping the pedal down... brilliant.

I don't know. ...should you?

Yes, so I assume a). Still, it would be awesome if LucasArts let someone who cared take their awesome licenses and run with them. Run like the wind!

Dear Idle Thumbs, Okay, so I was getting a bit tired of playing the medium tour, since it felt more like a pattern matching game that played music if you did the right thing than an awesome game where you play the drums. So I started a medium tour and after a couple of songs, my drum set literally rose like a machine, grabbed me and bent me over its drums and forced the drumsticks up my asshole. It was a real shock to go from being bored by easiness to be molested by difficultness so quickly. I find that my main problem is that mother loving pedal. I get cramps when trying to match the quick beats I'm now forced to play, and it makes this weird clangy sound. Is the pedal that comes with the ION drum set known to be all sorts of awesome? Is there some technique to this? It's like going from medium to hard is starting a different kind of game. I totally get the awesome and rad feeling of actually playing the drums with my arms, but my foot is like a drooling retard attached to my dick, or whatever. Also, playing with the ION set, I got used to hitting the cymbals whenever I expected the note to be a cymbal note, and I was usually right. I find myself regressing back to not using the cymbals now, though, because I get all mixed up with the speed. Should I say with trying to be all fancy using both the yellow drum and cymbal, or should I just leave those to the solo parts?

So if there's no game over, does that mean that you can just start the game, put down the controller, and watch the main characters save the day despite losing every fight and falling down every hatch? That'd be awesome. -

Bizzare things? If you're talking about this thread, I'm just thinking that, even though the voice work will probably be horrible, the dialogue silly and the plot ridiculous, it'll still be fun, with cool moments of interactivity and sweet graphics. Also, God lives in my pants. -

Oh yeah, it'll probably be awesome. I'm a sucker for the kind of strongly directed, all-custom-made stuff that Fahrenheit had, so even if it's lame it'll be totally awesome. -

I wonder if the PS3 SDK has an API for QTE DLC. -

Keeping your Tuesday schedule open is easy: If someone asks you to do something on a Tuesday, like attending your friend's wedding or your sick mother or your child's piano recital, tell them to fuck off. -
I would kill everyone to see that. I would cut them.

This is awesome and great. I wonder how different it'll be from a straight-up port.

I sort of tried to mix it up a bit last night. I find that the whatever the fuck it's called figure eight track where we raced sports cars is awesome almost regardless of which vehicle you choose. I also tend to set traffic to max, because I think the racing gets more interesting when you're dodging other cars and pileups are more likely to happen. Unfortunately I tend to choose the same tracks all the time. I mean the airport is a given, and more of a ritual, but I think fire truck racing could also be fun on a lot of other track too, as well. Fig. 1 Diagram of various shit So we have these races we always pick: Airport Exhaust Fumes (the one that takes place almost exclusively on the raised highway) The one where you race on the highway all the way to the end, and then up a ramp and turn, and then back almost all the way and do a little loop around a couple of gas stations. There are a bunch of others we haven't tried. If I host the game next time I'll be sure to be crazy and unpredictable in my choice of tracks. If not, I hope whoever hosts will also be that too. As well. "But although all our knowledge begins with experience, it does not follow that it arises from experience." -Immanuel Kant Also, I find autoaim on to be the only way. It's a bit weird because I like driving and autoaim does nothing when you're in a car, but the few times I'm on foot I like not having to concentrate on following the dude with the crosshair. It's almost like two different game modes. Also, do we always need to have the rocket wars on Charge Island? No, we fucking do not. Peace out. --- 1. Kübler-Ross, On Death and Dying 45–60. 2.
