Okay, there are possible outcomes in the shop, as detailed in this awesomely introduced video.

Why did you take the bus? It really sucks when this happens. I've had my Xbox fail once, after almost exactly two years or whatever the warranty period was. The replacement is still running, but I'm permanently prepared for its demise at any point. I'm not that worried either, as its become so cheap you can almost consider it a consumable.

Just to be clear, I was kidding.

Idle Thumbs 45: Episode Forty-Five
toblix replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
They did the clue-combining thing in the two first Blackwell games too. They didn't do it enough, though, because it's an awesome game mechanic that really feels like the trials in Phoenix Wright, in that it's not based on basic understanding of physical properties (tying rope to crowbar, inserting gem in gem-shaped socket, etc) that everyone has, but forces you to understand the game's domain, which is far more interesting. Discworld Noir did this excellently, I seem to remember. -
I'm trying to mix it up a bit.

I just had this crazy idea today, and installed, played and completed Riven, using a Virtual PC instance running Windows 98. I was sort of expecting to be really let down by the prerendered graphics after ten years, but I quicky concluded that, resolution aside (this game runs at 640x480), this is still one of the best looking games I've ever seen. No other games using prerendered graphics, except maybe Myst 3 and 4, have come close to the incredibly beautiful images and animations this game consists of (because, as we know, the Myst games basically are graphics and animations). From beginning to end I was immersed in that world more than I ever was in Half-Life 2 or Crysis or Call of Duty or whatever, and those are some immersive games. I started thinking about what a prerendered Myst game would be like, look like and sound like ten years later, probably filling at least four or five DVDs with high resolution images and animations, but after a couple of seconds I started crying because that'll never happen. At least I finally got to play a ten year old game without ever having to excuse it for its age.

Dear Idle Thumbs Staff, Could you please make it so that renaming the title of the first post of the thread also renames the thread? I look forward to your swift compliance in this regard, Thank you, Sincerely, toblix

Idle Thumbs 45: Episode Forty-Five

I was thinking they could play some games, do something like the RE5 video, only with actual voice-over while, I don't know. Maybe it's a horrible idea. Yeah, just watching them sitting there talking would only be fun for, like, an hour. -

Jesus, you're almost at fifty episodes. That's incredible, especially since you've maintained such a high level of goodness and frequentness throughout the entire run. Are you planning something special for ep. 50? Maybe... a video cast? -
Grand Thumb Auto XXXII: It's that time of year again (Poosday)

Sorry, but I did warn you on Twitter, the social medium everyone's jazzing about. Also, when my brother's back (in about six weeks?), expect him to be distinguishable by his thick Australian accent. I promise on the honour of my kin that I'll be there next week. -

That page is amazing! You should be like a scientist or something! -
Yeah, it's no big deal. I just thought I'd ask.

Just never let go of the right trigger, and you should stay out of last place. -
You should probably buy it at full price, seeing as it was so expensive to make.

We're playing GTA multiplayer on Xbox Live every Tuesday at, uh... 21:00 GMT, I think it is. No skills required other than awesome social skills like those of myself. -
Apparently, no. Oh well, it was just so that we could straighten out the GTA thread numbering, but I totally see how one could get drunk with power if given the ability.

Early? GTA 31 was last week. edit: Also, I aim to partake. -
Wow, I got it yesterday, and this game really highlights how I've lost (if I ever had it) my childlike playfulness and imagination. Instead of creating wondrous solutions using whatever my mind can think of, I keep attacking these puzzles like I do modern games with "puzzle elements", like Tomb Raider or Arkham Asylum. There's something higher up: jetpack. There's a creature: gun. There's something I have to move: grapple. What do I need a T-Rex for? That's not a part of the limited set of specific tools I've become dependent upon having at my disposal. It was really sad to play that game. It made me feel old, dumb and boring.

So some guy travelled to Riven with a camcorder: ZmDhRvvs5Xw

Aw man! There's a sale on Play and I can't choose what to get!

Whoever they should hire, they should take care to hire him/her before creating all the characters and levels. -
Also, both game names rhyme with "scat can, bark am bass-phylum".

Yes. In fact, the terrains were awesome. However, I guess I read this (or maybe the article also said) as the missions also being more "hand-crafted". Of course, only time will tell. Anyway, all discussion about Mass Effect 2 has been rendered useless by this link that Chris posted earlier: LD0AdV6-rAY

Almost considering going to Eurogamer Expo, if only because I've never physically been in the same room as someone who knows that Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time exists, or knows the difference between John Carmack and Hal Barwood. Or knows who John Carmack is. Or that Hal Barwood exists. Also, I've never been in a huge room where most people don't think video games are for kids.

I don't know if everybody knew this, but according to this, the procedurally generated planet surfaces will be replaced with actual hand-crafted surfaces for ME2.
