That was great fun. I apologize for sucking consistently, but at least I got some points this time. I don't know what was going on in that cat and mouse thing at the end, but I drove horribly in a shitty car, and still got a second place, so I must've done something right? No?

Grand Thumbs Autos XLVI: Just when you thought it was over
toblix replied to ThunderPeel2001's topic in Multiplayer Networking
That was fun. I got a bit distracted for a while by a fire, but managed to win the final race, so it's all good. -
Don't ask, just buy the fucking thing and get blown away.

I've always been a fan of self-referencing in video-games, and have enjoyed various indie game mashups, etc (like the ROM Check Fail game, or whatever it's called). I think the Matt Hazard games are the first... double-A game? that does this, though. I haven't played any of them, because I've heard they're not very good. I'm often wrong, though. Has anyone here played Matt Hazard? Is it funny? Is it good?

Idle Forza 0x00: Is this going to be a thing that is?
toblix posted a topic in Multiplayer Networking
So, did people want to play Forza 3 enought that it'll be a semi-regular thing? I guess the delayed L2D demo will befuckle all chances of multiplayer Forza tonight, but I thought I'd ask. -
Driving cars is fun!

Have an awesome Christmas, everyone!

So, has a season two been announced? I really hate not knowing how well games are doing. With the S&M thing at the end it sort of seemed to me they would be doing alternating seasons of S&M and TOMI? Also, whatever they do next, Jake should direct that shit. Thinking back on TOMI, the opening of the final episode really stands out as something special. It captured my favourite aspect of the MI games, the darker, lonelier stuff from the first two games, like the graveyards and the Steamin' Weenie Hut.

Although I'm generally for everything, the specifications seem almost too non-specific. Do you have any definite goals for the project other than it being a series of short stories in different languages?

If you'd only asked me, I'd download it for you. Ah well, at least you have an RS account now.

I don't know if the game was even more horrible at release, but it doesn't seem like they've fixed anything about the UI. According to the Steam update news, there was an 1.0.1 update on November 17th, but in my experience Steam's update news is only updated when they have nothing else to do. I tried going to their website to see if they had a forum, a community or something, but all I found was a huge Flash, and then a crazy guy jumped in and exploded my speakers before I could select which of the listed countries I was'nt in. I think a consistently valid rule for visiting game websites is that, if you start by selecting your country, there isn't going to be anything more than a trailer and some screenshots on there.

Speaking of Borderlands, I'm sort of expecting there to have been: a) An outrage from all PC players about the ridiculous UI A promise of a patch that fixes everything. Does anyone know if (when?) such a patch is expected? I don't know where all the cool kids go for their Borderlands news, but it would be sad to finish the game the day before they fix the UI and make it awesome. I'd consider delaying my continued playing if such a patch had been announced.

Clearly they wanted to strenghten the 2K brand.

Wow, that's really horrible. Thanks for reminding me why I should have my internet access revoked by the King. I think you'll find, though, that my post quality has increased somewhat since the start of this calendar year. Not quality as in intelligence or wit, but as in ratio of normal people words to four letter ones. Also, I just wanted to say that I'm being constantly impressed by people playing these old games. For some reason it seems more "genuine" or hard-core to take the time to play games that (I assume) really has a presentation that would turn most people away before even pressing START to start. A couple of years ago I did a thing where I played some old GameBoy Zeldas, and I really enjoyed them, even though I had to "force" myself somewhat to get started. Maybe there's a difference in attitude, that some players want to enjoy a game, so they bear more with the negatives and latch on to the positives, while others (like me) want to be entertained, so they expect everything to be fun and awesome and reject the whole thing based on single aspects that turn them off at first (graphics, in the case of older games). In conclusion, maybe Wave Racer sucks, but it's awesome that you got towards the end before you made that decision.

Regardless, my resolution is to be more lenient towards games, and allow for more crap before I dismiss a game. This resolution will allow me to resume playing MGS4. It's inspired by the good feeling I got when I beat Batman: Arkham Asylum, despite having to retry some hard fights a bunch of times. It was really annoying, but in the end I think I felt that it was worth it. Another resolution is to buy an awesome new computer in the following months.

I approve of this post. However, I have to ask: if this game is so bad, how come it has over sixty sequels?

I guess they're using the term because the lighting model has a high dynamic range, as opposed to the camera.

Surely you have at one point been outside on a bright and sunny day, and then gone inside a house or some other building? If your eyes didn't need some time to adjust to the low light-level, you're some kind of Super Man.edit: I also found this image kind of funny:

I'm not entirely convinced. I didn't read it thoroughly, but there was something about the guy trying to decompile the Xbox 360 maps from an ISO, but having to do the "improvements" by hand because everything crashed? To me it looks more like someone went through and just changed a bunch of stuff, rather than doing an objective improvement. For example, the new vortigaunt healing things were lame.

I've always enjoyed the more non-supernatural aspects of horror stories. I remember this book I read once about some kid living alone in a huge mansion or something like that, receiving threatening letters from a scary guy who always seems to know what the kid's planning to do and where he's planning to hide, etc. I remember being extremely disappointed when, towards the end of the book it turns out there was some magic force in play. Having read a lot of Stephen King, I also enjoy the stuff about people just talking and doing stuff -- be it horrory stuff or not -- more than evil forces, ghosts, what have you. Off the top of my head I remember really liking From a Buick 8 and Rose Madder, mainly because it wasn't just a magic-fest, but had scary stuff happening to "normal" people. God, this post sucks. Thanks for the meaty reply, though! I'll be sure to add some of your recommendations to my next Amazon order.

Okay, either I'm dumb as plumb, or Gearbox are. Where do I disable that I have to click OK for every ammo purchase I make?

Holy shit, is there a board game version of Words With Friends

Just wanted to say that this is awesome. Sometimes I wish that my gaming was that hardcore.
