I've never heard anyone criticizing the PS2/PS3 controller before. Is it a common issue with them?

Well, I never make stuff up, except for in my various works of fiction.

Although I feel the Dark Tower series was ruined a bit by the last books, I still consider my King-a-thon worth it just because I got to read It and The Stand.

Well, I've given Media Player Classic - Home Cinema a go, and I really like it. It does everything I want it it, except look good. It looks exactly like Windows Media player 6.4, which sucks, but it does all the other things I want it to. It plays all the formats and it stays minimized when I want it to. I don't have to get a computer science degree just to make global hotkeys work, and it's really lightweight. No media library or Twitter integration -- it just pops up and plays the files. I think I'll stay with this for a while.

It seems everything in this game is really

My play key isn't a weird play key. It's the standard play key that has been on every Microsoft/Logitech keyboard since the dawn of multimedia PCs. VLC is the only media player I have used that has not recognized it immediately. It turns out VLC does recognize it, but only sometimes. Also, I never make stuff up. It seems Media Player Classic Home Cinema is my next contestant. Also, GOM player. Will the Zune player act all weird if I don't have a Zune?

No, but I've lined it up for testing, along with other suggestions like MPC Home Theatre something...

Could someone make a short unordered list enumerating the key features of this game that makes it different from, say, Battlefield 2042? I've always thought DICE's war games, all the way back from 1942, to be very similar. Does this one stand out in any particular way?

The problem is, this isn't for my main media computer. On that, I just use Windows XP and WMP10, which works flawleslly. However, on my work/gaming computer I need a media player that is able to play epic 1080p x264 films at the click of a button, but also just play an MP3 when I double click it without making a big fuss. WMP11 (Vista) was able to do this, but they removed this in WMP12. VLC seems all right for both (although it looks very bad), but it doesn't support global hotkeys for some reasons. Or, it does support them, but they do not work. It always amazes me with these open source projects, how it seems people only work on awesome stuff like supporting bleeding-edge codecs, while the really simple stuff like UI and registering my God damn play/pause button never really gets done. Or it gets done, and then in the next version it doesn't work.

Overheard in the VLC player offices: - Boss, I have fixed the last bug on my list, so we have to decide what I should start working on next. I was thinking maybe we should work a bit on not having the application look like complete shit, and maybe add support for those play/pause buttons people have been having on their keyboards for over ten years n-- - Shut the fuck up make some more of this:

A new multiplayer game (for the times when left for lobby gets too much)

Well Eeeexcuuuuuse Me! Look at fancy Computer Jones over here with his bigshot hardware. -
I hate it when I'm used to something working fine, and then a new version breaks it. Although I'm happy with most of the changes from Vista to Windows 7, the new Windows Media Player really sucks. WMP11 would minimize to a toolbar on the taskbar, and it would stay there until told otherwise. If I doubleclicked a file, it would start playing it. The new one won't minimize to a bar, because they've replaced it with some controls in the Aero Peek window, which is fair enough. However, where they really screwed up is that the player won't stay minimized. Doubleclicking a file maximizes the WMP window, which is really stupid. I know, I know, shut the hell up and use one of the million alternatives. I will, but it's so dumb because: I can't uninstall WMP, so it'll just remain a huge and useless part of the OS All the alternatives have some other horrible properties that make me regret installing them (IE toolbars, fugly GUIs, general open sourceiness, etcc) It worked perfectly before It's a minor detail in the implementation, and it should be in the options menu, but instead there's crap like Connect to the Internet (overrides other commands) and Download usage rights automatically when I play or sync a file. Ugh, finding a media player on the internet is so 1990's. What is there, Winamp?

I'm so excited, I wish my forum avatar would reflect it.

Okay, I'll write something as soon as I can.

Hello. I'm posting this from my new computer.

Should we get to see the others' work?
-
Oh, are we actually doing this? I thought we were just saying that we had. All right.
-
Is this really happening? Also, nice chapter! Just when you were about to lose me (the part about change seems far-fetched), you reel me right back in with the latex body suit.

I'm up for the thing where you can race cars around. Although it's fun to be able to choose ones own car rather than some stock one, it's really all the same to me.

Just to be clear: the café -- is it open or closed?

Does your computer have a turbo button? If so, you should make sure it's set to the on position.
