  1. Just Cause 2

Yeah, obviously that's the thing they're going for. I just don't understand why they're tacking on the serious tone at the start. To me it seems like they're not 100% sure what kind of game they're making.
  2. Just Cause 2

That combination of an attempt at an epic storyline of betrayal or whatever, and what looks like a totally wacky sandbox-style game was really jarring. I mean, why are they combining these things? Even serious games like Call of Duty have problems being taken seriously, and now you're supposed to care about your Hawaiian shirt wearing friend betraying you by shooting at your hanglider with a bazooka while riding a motorcycle off a jeep that's jumping over a helicopter crashing into an exploding radar dish?
  3. Dragon Age

Currently enjoying this fine game. It really makes me feel like a hardcore gamer. If I one day make a game that's mostly about dudes with big beards in big armors, I would place it towards the very top of my list of priorities to not have everything just intersect. I mean, even not considering player characters with customization options, they've made this NPC guy, given him a specific suit of armor and a beard. They have full control of everything from mesh to animation -- why is his shoulder plates passing through his chest and beard?!

  5. Another Mario Thing

If his hand didn't reach above his hat in the first place, no amount of stretching the image would change that. Also:
  6. God of War

I really love the trend of games having these horrible torture/execution scenes, as it makes defending games as a worthwile form of culture more of a challenge.
  7. For a very long time I've felt that there's been a very high rate of great and/or high-profile games being released. I just looked at the "My Games" tab, and there's Dragon Age, which I'm currently playing, Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2. In addition, I've just ordered Heavy Rain. Also, there's a new Ace Attorney game coming out this week. Oh, and they've just announced a new Civ game. And the list goes on. Having just finished (and completed every achievement for) the great Assassin's Creed 2, and playing GTA IV and Forza 3 weekly, I'll be constantly playing awesome game forever. It's like great games are being released faster than I can play them. Granted, it's mostly sequels, and I should be furious that it's Assassin's Creed 2 and not New Original Title, but still... are gamers having a particularly sweet time OR is this just how it is OR should I be angrier at being served sequels even though they're apparently great? Oh, I also forgot Left 4 Dead 2 and Bad Company 2. Also, Modern Warfare wasn't bad. Jesus, there's a lot of sequels.
  8. Formula Thumb

Okay, seems to be working. This is what I want to show you. It really illustrates how big of an asshole Patters is when he's driving his Idle Thumbs car. Notice how I'm just driving along, minding my own business, when suddenly he stops. Driving in my awesome 'Blix car, I have no choice but to drive through him, at which point he goes totally crazy and does something unforgivable. Let's watch: 94IqjbwZbxk

Just testing the YouTube thing. This is from a couple of weeks ago. It really needs stereo sound. qn1s7UbntBw
  10. Worms Reloaded

So, there's a new 2D Worms game coming out on the best console of them all -- the PC! So, anyone other than me fancy the occasional game of this, if it's any good?
  11. Worms Reloaded

    Absolutely a right step.
  12. Worms Reloaded

Yeah, now that I look at the screenshots there's been quite a bit of visual polish. Okay, so all the new Worms games are to Worms 2 what Vista was to XP. It's basically the same thing, only with some visual polish. I'm not saying it's bad, and I'm not saying they shouldn't be doing this -- the Worms series is fantastic and they should do whatever they feel like. I'm just personally sad that they haven't really taken another step forward with it. Not that it' obvious what that step would be -- I'm no game designer.
  13. Worms Reloaded

But what tech has been upgraded exactly? Aren't they just using the assets and engine from Worms 2? Isn't this just Worms 2, cut down and ported to a console, and now apparently ported back again?
  14. Formula Thumb

Me and Patters -- or should I say Patters and I -- had a fun, though eerily silent game last night. We kept it going for about an hour before we called it a night. Not only do I not present a challenge in this game; the lag was so horrible that I sometimes thought I had won, because his car always spun of the road and I finished first. Of course, this was only artifacts of the lag, and I'm sure that to him it looked like I drove like shit and kept sliding off the road too... Anyway, good times. Next week I should not be 50% of the players.
  15. Worms Reloaded

Yeah, there were some. I'm still pissed that they haven't really done anything new since Worms 2. It feels like everything since that (except Worms 3D) is just repackaging, and mostly of the type where they remove some weapons.
  16. Worms Reloaded

Jesus, what a disappointment. How hard can it be to make a video game!?
  17. Mice for gamers.

It's called ghosting, and you need this. I'm just kidding. Well, it's called ghosting (or masking), but you don't need that keyboard. Or maybe you do, since you're keyboard is so cheap.
  18. New episode link

Well, that sucks. Someone should hack a link to the episode.
  19. New episode link

Someone also a link here: http://idlethumbs.net/
  20. You know there's a new podcast out, right?

Sorry, I should've added a spoiler tag, but it turns out they're not supported in the thread title. Anyway, now you know.
  21. "Art games aren't innovative and innovation isn't good"

    Anyone play Passage?
  22. Uh, not to be an ass, but it looks like I won't make it either...
  23. I'll be there like Well, actually unlike him, especially now that he's so far away that the speed of light itself prevents him from partaking.
  24. Mice for gamers.

The awesome thing about Logitech mice is that they cover them in a rubber coating that, when in contact with human skin, starts to dissolve and peel off.
