  1. Heavy Rain

I've played about an hour of this, and I'm pretty sure they've spent hundreds of thousands of dollars making places for the guy to sit and do nothing. Also, what's with the stupid mall sequence?
  2. Portal ARG?

Holy mother of mercy. This is it, people.
  3. Keeping your data safe

Yeah, it was totally stupid of me to buy the NAS in the first place. When you buy a NAS you're really trusting all your data to this closed system that's meant to be user-friendly. That's all well and good, but when everything turns to shit, there's not much help in user-friendly anymore. If this had been a Linux box, there would be tons of tools for diagnosing and restoring the array. If I hadn't figured it out myself, I could get some geek to do it for me. With this Seagate piece of crap, there's just the web interface, and I can't really do anything but push the buttons. I mean, most likely the NAS is a Linux box running software RAID, but that doesn't mean much when they've closed off everything.
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

Yeah, the make-up was a bit rubbish. He just looked like he had gathered a lot of dust, which maybe makes sense, I dunno.
  5. Just started watching BSG, intending to follow ThunderPeel2001`s fantastic guide. I've just watched the one episode, but I really liked the whole intro thing, with the guy coming each year and sitting alone.
  6. Dawn of War 2

Thanks for the advice. I usually always play the single player first, as I for some reason instinctively consider multiplayer a second-rate addition. I think maybe it stems from the Thief or System Shock 2 or something. There was some horribly tacked-on multiplayer there. Anyway, I`ll give it a while as soon as I get a chance.
  7. Dawn of War 2

Okay, I've bought it. Hopefully it's super awesome!
  8. Rittai Kakushi E Attakoreda

I'm guessing it used the camera to track movement, which means there'll be lots of cases where it'll not work, or be glitchy as hell. I doubt very much it'll include any sensors, especially since I understand it's a downloadable game.
  9. Keeping your data safe

I've decided to build a new Linux based server, as was my plan initially. I'll use the disks from the NAS-box in that, which leaves me with an empty NAS-box which I paid probably just as much for as I did the disks. I'll use the empty NAS for pissing in.
  10. EA Presents

Jesus, I could watch that all day.
  11. Dawn of War 2

That sounds awesome. Is it weird and hard to get into? Is it on Steam? edit: Oh, is it the Warhammer 40k thing? It has "2 New Last Stand Heroes – Face off against the relentless horde as either the Chaos Sorceror or Tyranid Hive Tyrant" Do I have to be a tabletop RPG nerd?
  12. Dawn of War 2

So, is this some persistent RPG thing? I thought it was only an RPG.
  13. Keeping your data safe

(Sorry about this whole thread, just delete it) Now I think I'm starting to experience the inner peace of those monks who can have no (or only few) worldy possessions. Before I was worried about what could happen to my files. Now there's nothing to worry about. I have nothing to lose, just like an action hero.
  14. Keeping your data safe

I mean, if any of those files were that important to me, I would've made backups, right?
  15. Keeping your data safe

I'll just start life over. It's like a fresh start. It's the best thing that could ever happen to me. Seriously.
  16. Keeping your data safe

Okay, it's been about ten minutes since this happened. If only I could bottle my state of mind right, and have a sip every time I thought I didn't really need backups. Half my brain is currently going through all the files I've lost, and the consequences. For example, I don't have my music anymore, which I've spent so much time acquiring. All my digital photos, documents... I think this is what it feels like right after you've murdered a man. Your mind is racing, trying to identify the most critical consequences of what just happened. I also feel that I'm bracing myself for all the moments to come, where I realize that I no longer have those files. For example, the next time I want to listen to music, or when someone asks me to see those photographs I took on that holiday trip. I'm currently sure that I'm in no physical danger, and it hasn't affected my job.
  17. Another Mario Thing

He's talking about Le Fabuleux Galaxie de Mario Supére, Sequence Deux! - C'est moi, Mario!
  18. Formula Thumb

Oh, so we're allowed to have flying cars now?
  19. Dragon Age

Well, I guess the difference is it's easier to get me excited about spaceships and lasors!! than ancient curses and magical elves!!! I always assume games have bad writing.
  20. Is this the one with all the cars?
  21. Dragon Age

Well, I'm the last one to judge anyone's writing, really. It's just that... you talk to this guy, and he has three or four stories to tell, and they're all about this invented lore of this world, and I have no way to tell if it's related to the story or if it's just weaving the rich tapestry of the world, etc. Unable to determine if it's important or not, I skip it. As a consequence I lose interest in most of the main story as well. It doesn't help that I feel that they hired some crazy guy to do the "evil" dialogue stuff, and you meet some guy and the last alternative is "Hello (Kill him)" and it doesnt' make any sense. I started out trying to be evil (i.e. rude, greedy and ruthless), because I've had some success with that in both the KOTORs and Mass Effect, but in Dragon Age it feels like I'm playing it the wrong way. Everyone just gets angry and tells me to go away, which is obviously the natural way to react to some guy who comes up to you and is all "You don't need to know," but not what I expect from a video gaaaaames.
  22. Dragon Age

So I'm considering quitting this game. Although this is clearly a great PC RPG, and it looks good, and it is incredibly well made, loading quickly, sweet interface, seems incredibly stable, etc., the story isn't really grabbing me. I find myself clicking through a lot of dialogue because, oh, there's just so much of it, and I don't really care about this kind of stuff. Old witches and magical forests -- to me it's more cliché, which prevents me from caring. I guess it's one of those cases where it's obviously excellent, but just not for me. I think I'll play Mass Effect 2 now. Oh, it just hit me that there seems to be something weird about how, except for the increased shader quality, close-up talking sequences haven't really improved at all since they first appeared in games. There's still all the blank stares, weird movement transitions, badly timed transitions, all sorts of stuff. It really stands out as very half-assed in such on otherwise polished game, especially since there's so much of it.
  23. This thought will keep me up all night....

    Two words: The Sims.
  24. Civilization V

I thought about it, and I always do a search for existing threads before starting a new one, but I thought that since it hasn't even been released yet I'd chance a new thread without a weird name. Who knows, maybe this thread will grow to span tens of pages. How would you feel if that long thread was named something like Civliziation 5v?! More like Wizard Rape!!!
