  1. Bungie makes 10-year deal... with Activision

Yeah, so basically boxed copies is the thing keeping these big publishing companies alive? Are there publicly available (and reliable) numbers on how the split between physical/digital distribution is in PC games? The publishers must be working like crazy to get Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo not to go all digital distribution (or even allowing both physical and full digial) for their next generation of consoles, then.

I don't know anything about this, is the only reason filthy rich developers like Bungie, Valve, Blizzard (which I'm assuming are really really rich) still need publishers is so that their games can be sold in cardboard boxes? Couldn't they theoretically ditch the publisher, get a marketing firm to do the marketing and go all digital distribution? Is the reason they're not doing that that games are still mostly sold in boxes rather than on Steam et al.?

Awesome! Also, I had to turn the mic off after ten minutes because I started having these incredible coughing fits that would, if transmitted, have literally blown you away, so that's why I was really rude and never said sorry or good-bye or anything. Sorry! Disregarding that, though, a fun night of racing was had, especially the one time I won.
  5. GThA 60: There is no such thing as 59

Whatever, I might be there, I might not. It's all the same to me, you know?
  6. Imma buy the Rockstar thing when I get home, and then we can see about setting up a recording session. I agree that we shouldn't replace the real thing, but rather do a separate session focused on recording awesome and spectacular stunts.
  7. Life

Definitely not Miffy. I've become really nose-aware now, so I keep seeing this ghost-nose hovering in my field of view wherever I turn. I hope it'll go away before tomorrow (the awareness of the nose, not the nose itself), or it'll affect my work.
  8. Life

Holy shit! I was just in the shower, naked, taking a shower, when suddenly, in the corner of my eye, I saw something coming at me. For a split second I was sure I was about to shower-fight a cat or maybe a huge rat, but it turned out it was just my nose.
  9. Life

Miffy, that stuff is ultra-interesting to me, although at an uninformed, layman's level. Still, I would really like to read your thing.
  10. NeoGaf: Any of you post there?

Before you know it, there are separate forums for the consoles, and major game series like Modern Warfare and Gears of War have their own sub-forums. Also, we should have one for cosplay and one for hints, tips and cheats. Maybe tech support, too? Oh, and an abandonware one. Genre-specific forums would be stretching it a bit at this point, but give it a year...
  11. Sorry, I meant yes, but we just stopped playing, as in twenty minutes ago. There was talk of playing it on PC next time or something, although that was probably just rambling.
  12. Not anymore, we're not. Anyway, awesome game you gays. I would have responded to some of your comments with a brief "yes" or something (maybe "no") if I didn't have to mute the mic so as not to drown everything in my coughing noises.
  13. BioShock 2

I've played this for quite a bit, and it was okay. While the environments and atmosphere were every bit as fantastic as the first game, the combat really irked me. I kept getting stressed out by always running out of ammo, and then having to change weapon and ammy type while being pummeled and shot. However, I came over an awesome spell that turns the combat into what I would prefer it to be all the way from the beginning. It prevents you from using firearms, but reduces the mana cost for all the spells. So now I only have to focus on which spell to use, and make sure I don't run out of the single type of ammo I use. I get that most gamerz dudez would find a game with only one weapon positively gay, but I find it lets me concentrate more on the awesome points of the game. Anyway, I just went by a suspicious gas pump. I'm getting the feeling I'm close to the end, but I got that mid-way in Bioshock too, so who knows.
  14. I'd pay upwards of 1200 Microsoft points for that.
  15. Life

That's acceptable, Miffy, but nothing more!
  16. Doctor! Doctor!

Holy crap, this movie is 100% medically accurate: http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/thehumancentipede/
  17. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

Anyone know how to merge fleets? The help thing says empty fleets will be scuttled, but I'm not able to move all the ships to a new fleet, as the last ship can't be moved.
  18. Books, books, books...

Interesting! There's been a slight discussion about it in the Books, book, books thread (edit: just realised we're in that thread right now). I did the thing where I ordered the Stephen King Box on Amazing and proceeded to read the books according to a dependency graph I found on some site, so that the greatest possible number of references would make sense. However, the last three or four books in the main Dark Tower series were so shit it almost ruined the whole thing for me. I'm still glad I read most of the books, but I now appreciate them more as separate stories, rather than components of a single complex one. For example, The Stand, From a Buick 8 (my first King book), It, and many more are simply fantastic.
  19. Thumb Fortress 2

Doubly agreed. Also, when there are few guys, like, exempli gratia, less than ten, the (what I assume is the) ordinary mode, where you dominate multiple points, etc, is quite boring. The king of the hill and arena were fun, though.
  20. Real Lives

Anyone heard of or played this? It's more of an educational thing, I think, but it seems interesting. From the reddit thread:
  21. Movie/TV recommendations

Anyone notice he looks like a fat, bearded Patrick Stewart?
  22. Movie/TV recommendations

So I saw part of a show the other day called Inside the Actor's Studio, and there were all these Hollywood actors shown being on the show. However, the host seemed to be the most pretentious man I have ever seen in all my years in showbiz. Is he a respected grand old man of this magnificent craft we call acting, or is he just some pretentious douche?
  23. LittleBigPlanet

I bought a PS3 headset yesterday, so now I look like a guy from 24. THE BOMB WILL GO OFF WITHIN THE HOUR MADAM PRESIDENT!
  24. Formula Thumb

I also wasn't there (don't know if you noticed) but I'll totally be back next week I hope.
  25. Neptune's pride

Thanks. Looks like I'll need some range upgrades first, as it's pretty sparse between us.
