What?! Why?

You seem so sad I didn't like it. It doesn't really make a difference that it was the same artists -- the game looks like crap in comparison. Some might say it's an art style choice, and of course it's all subjective. I could forgive the lame graphics and voices if the story was any interesting or well told, and I could forgive the lame, badly told story if the puzzles were any good. I could even forgive the stupid puzzles and awful controls if it was free. Unfortunately, none of these requirements are fulfilled.

Jesus, how I fail at posting some times. Let me be perfectly clear: I was really disappointed with the game, and truthfully found it to have every one of the negative characteristics I enumerated in my first post.

I know exactly what you mean, but I'm quite confident Valve are clever enough not to fall into this trap.

I would like to be in, but I haven't even tried the tutorial yet. I'll give it a whirl when I get home.

Yeah yeah, I know there are a bunch of people who don't love everything about Half-Life. It's just that I'm always taken aback when someone actually says it. It's not you, it's me.

Maybe it has to do with them going last and having to be the third ones in two days to say that 3D and motion control is unlike anything you've ever seen before.

Most disappointing surprise ever. I don't get why they hyped it at all. I would assume existing fans will both prefer to play it on the PC and be disappointed that that was the surprise. Also, I watched the "live" broadcast on gametrailers, which was the most horrible unwatchable video transmission I've ever seen. It seems they encoded and sent the various quality levels with very different delays, so that when the player switches from one quality to another -- which it does automatically all the damn time -- the video shifts back and forth, often almost a minute. It was funny how Sony seemed almost embarrassed that their motion technology were just wiimotes with balls, feeling the need to piss on the competition that badly.

I'm watching the Nintendo E3 Channel, and it's interesting because I can't tell if everything's scripted or not. I'm assuming it is, but then they all laugh and I'm not so sure anymore.

Well, I'll have to get one now:

I wish I had the childhood memories that many people have from Nintendo's various games, like Zelda and Metroid and Goldeneye. I'd be all gassed up right now. Epic Mickey, however, looked pretty sweet. It's a shame everything by default looks kind of crap on the Wii. I hope they release a 720p version or something.

Could you elaborate? Are you talking about frame rates, or do things move all tweeny?
-
Yeah, also I googled "lounge chair" and found this: What the Hell are you doing?!

I guess it could be the advanced A/V equipment they were using for the presentation, but the delay between actual and the on-screen movement seemed very high on Kinect.

GTA LXII - Take 2: Don't tell me you've got something "more important" to do

I'll be there as usual, waiting in the dashboard for a critical mass of other people. -
Now I feel like maybe I exaggerated. What was it you liked about it?

They say the new Xbox 360 is "whisper quiet". I'd quite like to know what that entails, because if it really is more like the PS3 noise-wise I'm getting it just for that.

So is the typical DLC being offered for most games now a confirmed way of making money, or is it still being tried out?

The Idle Thumbs Podcast Episode 8: A Castro Situation
toblix replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I always enjoy good and detailed descriptions of awkward video transitions! The tape sequence was surreal and refreshing, too. I would maybe like an actual, non-hilarious talk about the game, though, because it sounded fascinating. -
About the stranger missions: Few other games have had me thinking back and reflect on its awesomeness.

After my longer than usual stint as Space Gentleman, I've got the taste for more.

I'm assuming the biggest reason people get bent out of shape over it is because it feels like a nail in the coffin for the original games, reducing the chance that another "true" sequel will ever be produced. For example, I don't expect there to be an isometric turn-based Fallout game any time soon.
