  1. Is anybody else having forum issues?

Maybe you're the only one using email notifications. What, do you get emails every time someone posts?
  2. Christmas Cards

    I will
  3. Christmas Cards

I don't call it "love" when I have to force you.
  4. I am disappoint with the internet... Sprite spite!

Every time I look at elmuerte's avatar I think about how it would be to be swept up in his bulging arms and taken away to his lair.
  5. I am disappoint with the internet... Sprite spite!

I thought you were doing it in a spiteful rage to show him what's what. Impression: CORRECTED
  6. Christmas Cards

Oh, I forgot to mention that! Naturally I'll give my own address in return and I edited the post to clarify as much. That's one.
  7. I am disappoint with the internet... Sprite spite!

Five bucks says elmuerte and Tanukitsune will have made love by the end of 2010.
  8. L.A. Noire

Clint Hocking thought the trailer was lame: To me it sounds like he's saying that a game trailer has to show actual game play to be a proper video game trailer, but isn't that an unnecessarily strict definition? There are established ways of doing trailers, but does a movie trailer have to show footage from the actual movie to be a proper trailer? I'm sure there have been lots of independently produced advertisements for movies. Why can't it be just a clip that shows some characters, visual style and technology and still be a good trailer? Those are important parts of a game as well. Can't an ad for a book, say, do nothing but pan down pages of text?
  9. L.A. Noire

Well holy crap: U9IH8fWOwS4 Prettay sweet. I don't know what kind of facial animation thing they've got going on, but it looks wonderful.
  10. I am disappoint with the internet... Sprite spite!

I think maybe you should just let it go... but I would also like 500 sprites.
  11. I am disappoint with the internet... Sprite spite!

I thought it was pretty cool.
  12. Looks like I looked up the wrong technology on the internet. Obviously going from 5.1 to stereo is something different altogether.
  13. What's with the speaker hate? There are good speakers too, you know. Anyway, I still don't trust the whole stereo to surround conversion thing. The concept sounds like something similar to what they're doing with older non-3D movies, running them through some algorithm in an attempt to "extract" 3D data from it. Interestingly (maybe), I played the demo clip first on my speakers, and didn't notice much difference. Both sounded good. Using headphones, though, the thing really made it sounds better, but also weirdly different. The channel balance was improved, it sounded like, but it seems lame that a game should need to have its audio run through a filter to sound better with headphones on. Could they just improve the sound engine? This is not my field of expertise.
  14. Holy fucking Maloney, that's ridiculous. I didn't know anyone overcharged to such a degree. Still, it's not even 50% cheaper... The way I'd check for compatibility issues would be to decide on a setup, and then google the motherboard and graphics card, for example, just to see if there's anything. If you decide on known brands it'll be readily apparent if there is a known conflict. It's been a while since I actually found something, though – it might not be worth worrying about at all that this point. As for the price/performance, I might not be the right person to give advice, but if you plot a graph of the price of a given component (video cards and CPU are always like this) from the cheapest to the most expensive, you'll see a huge jump right at the far expensive end. Buy the thing that's right at the foot of this cliff, as it'll be very good, but not inflatedly expensive because of its newity. Also, if your budget allows, having Windows on an SSD is nice, but it still hurts a tiny bit when you compare the price per MB to the magnetic drives. Also, have at least 4GB of RAM. Anyone who says 2GB is a shit.
  15. I would argue that those numbers are exaggerated. There's money to be saved, sure, but come on.
  16. Except for the title, I give this thread and will without delay buy both this and Bayonetta. Thanks!
  17. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

I remember back at the IGN Vault Network forums, I posted this long thread about some subject, richly illustrated with images directly linked to Something Awful. Boy was my face red when I discovered much later that the thread was – to anyone but me – illustrated with pictures of a grown man's gaping anus.
  18. I think most motherboards now have at most one IDE connector for old time's sake (older optical drives, for example) and four or more SATA connectors.
  19. Building a PC from scratch is as easy as finding all the components, making sure there are no conflicts between them (a quick Google search should assure you of this), buying them and putting them together. If you need IDE cables you've done it wrong.
  20. I know someone has probably already said this, but I can heartily recommend building your own. There's some stuff to learn, but it's not complicated at all, and if everything goes well – and it might! – you'll have a sweet gaming computer for slightly less money, probably.
  21. GTA V - Female Lead Character

Well, first of all a big fat fuck you for making me think this was some real news on GTA V. Second, it would probably be pretty cool, though I wouldn't expect a lot of stuff changing because of it, other than them being able to use being overtly sexist as an easy way of painting characters as assholes. Also, they could do a pink hud, and the purse would make it reasonable to carry so many grenades at the same time. And you could have a pet back in your apartment, and you could steal little toys and stuff and bring back to it for extra points. And there could be cooking recipes to find!
  22. Broken Sword: Director's Cut

It's bigger, better and more beautiful. The reason it got a lower score must because most people like to pretend to hate sequels. I don't know, it's great.
  23. FIFA

Holy shit, it all makes sense now! The birthday cards, the shared baths.
  24. FIFA

    What, soccer?
