This is thread is great. Keep it up!

Knowing nothing about any of this, I expect some executive is aiming to leverage the indie popularity and credibility of the Far Cry™ franchise, and now they're exited to announce they'll be bringing you a reboot that adds everything you wan in today's games, like Facebook integration and stupid dumb shit, while keeping intact the core assets that made Far Cry so popular among core consumers, like weapons and enemies. Honestly, I'm a bit surprised. Didn't Far Cry 2 do terribly?

I said the same thing when Tanu was getting all his threads tagged. It might not be malicious, but the anonymity increases the amount of perceived assholeness by a factor of a hundred. I'd link the greater dickwad theory thing if everyone hadn't seen it million times. Anyway, if you could see who tagged what and enforced a little accountability I'd wager they'd be less ambiguously harsh overall.

Just watched the first episode of Walking Dead, and really liked it. It was particularly sweet the times the camera zoomed in mid-take.

All right! Desmond, Ezio, Altair, Constantinople, and also "manipulating the construct of Desmond's memories." It's coming in November. I feel sort of terrible for enjoying a series of games that has a new installment released with such clockwork regularity it no doubt is produced algorithmically by robot drones. Still, new buildings to jump around on!

Aren't they saying this is the third in the AC2 trilogy, though, and that the next one should be all-new (i.e. Assassin's Creed III)?

Better late than never: Toy Story 3. Jesus Christ almighty, this was just fantastic! Pixar still manages to blow everything to shit with their skills – with the quality of the traditional aspects of story, script, performance, jokes, etc. you can count on them their films to be the best children's movie of whatever year, taking a huge crap on everyone trying to mimic them, but in the purely technical sense they're also so incredibly good! Each time they release a movie I'm blown even more away by the level of detail and care that has gone into every little thing. They manage to very successfully balance the narrow thing between too little happening on screen (because CGI is expensive and let's focus on the main characters) and too much (because HOLY SHIT WE'LL MAKE EVERYTHING HAPPEN WITH CGI!) The camera work is masterful, and everything's so delicately handled. They're mastering composition, coloring, focus and depth of field, optical artifacts, textures, shaders, character and facial animation, etc. with perfect ease, and just when you think they've mastered it all they master it even more with their next release! IT'S INCREDIBLE AND I'M ALL EXCITED! Also, this movie had some of the best characters, like tortilla head and the crazy monkey. The only thing I hated about the movie was all the fuck shit Disney inc. ™ registered trademark trailers for every fucking Disney release in the next five years. Oh, how they manage to turn a prized possession into a piece of broken plastic I'd like to shove up the collective assholes of their no doubt enormous army of attorneys, lawyers and whatever else kind of human garbage that has convinced Disney that this is a good idea.

Game Informer leak ho! Highlights (for me): Ziplines for getting around even faster Instead of Borgia towers, there are Assassin's Dens, which you'll not only have to liberate through more varied gameplay, but also protect afterwards. Thankfully you'll be able to assign super guys to protect them for you, which sounds like another completionist achievement target for toblix. Also, liberating the dens will provide ziplines, which seems like a fabulous reward. Less side missions, more random events. They'll probably be just as formulaic, but at least now I won't have to completionist all of them. Completely unrelated, but best of all: Ancel notes that he's been working on BG&E2 for "a while".

Well, as I'm sure you'll agree, if it's one thing you can count on it is that developers/publishers will be able to shoehorn multiplayer into anything. It's fine, of course, they can do what they want, but I'm still wondering how well-proven the link between multiplayer and sales actually is. Obviously it depends on the genre and platform; you'd probably want multiplayer in your crazy action FPS, but I'm not so sure when it comes to RPGs. Also, when playing a game with a multiplayer community that will surely be completely non-existent after just a few months, I'm always left wondering how much better the single player game could have been if they didn't have to split their attention and resources.

YEA THIS MEANS MULTIPLEYAR BITCHESSSSS Bring on the deathmatch

Oh, I didn't even think about that. If there's a role that's typically unpopular, I can be another guy.

Am I late to the party on this? http://www.northcountrynotes.org/jason-rohrer/arthouseGames/seedBlogs.php?action=display_post&post_id=jcr13_1170707395_0&show_author=1&show_date=1 This sounds totally awesome! I love special platform games, and this? This sounds pretty fucking special. Also, what is happening with that cool silhouette 2d platform game that only had a little flash page advertising it and it seemed really cool and there was falling blocks and gears(not falling)?

Yeah, forgot to comment on this the other day. Watched the whole thing. Very interesting. I always like to hear developers go in-depth on their games.

The BASS that's out is remastered, only just for the tiny iPhone screen. As for the achievements, I only noticed those after I had finished the game. Apparently you have to "activate" Game Center or some shit, so none of them registered. I'm almost tempted to play it once more. Also: you do know BS1 came out after BS2, right?

Finished this last night, and was pretty pleased with it overall. The iOS controls are a bit wonky in both this game and the predecessor, but you get used to it. I'm so uncertain if I'd finish this if I picked it up today as a new adventure. I'm completely unable to objectively evaluate it and not consider the thick layer of nostalgia I've applied to it over the years. I love that there's a ton of custom hand-drawn animation for everything. The final puzzle with the giant wheels was a bit tedious. However, having finished it, I was hugely and massively disappointed to discover that the iPad version of Beneath a Steel Sky: Remastered... does not exist! I'm forced to play in that ridiculous 2x mode with weirdly blurred graphics. If I'm going to play the game with the graphics blurred that way I'm going to have to meter my sequel or my eyes will fall out! I'm torn between just playing the old version on the PC, or waiting for Revolution to publish an iPad version. I tried asking @charlescecil, but didn't hear anything back. Does anyone remember if the iPad/universal versions of BS1 or BS2 were released later than the iPhone version?

I'm the opposite. During E3 and smililar events, you would find me with Schacknews constantly visible on one screen, pushing F5 with regular, robotic intervals. Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone!
