Is this one of those things where you suspect it's not really made by a five year old girl, but a forty year old man?

I was super pleased! The only thing I had my doubts about was the build quality of the case, and more critically the PSU that came with it. It's a pretty large external brick that gives off this horrible buzzing sound when power is not drawn. I'm not totally convinced that it's to blame for what's happened, but I don't know what else it could be. I guess I'll find out next week.

FUCK My FreeNAS box has went to shit. The last couple of days I've been treating it a bit badly, pulling out and replacing disks, just to make sure everything's working properly. As it turns out, everything did not work properly. I've seen a wide array of different error messages, and during the last hours of its terminal phase, there was clicking sounds from hard drives and horrible scary stuff like that. My theory is that the software isn't at fault, but rather the hardware. I especially suspect the weird, buzzing external PSU that came with the cheap, flimsy Chenbro case I had stuck everything in. I've just ordered proper parts for a new box, and though it will be much larger (midi ATX tower versus super-tiny cheap plastic flimsy piece of shit Chenbro case) my hope is that I'll be able to build the new box, stick in the old drives and be on my merry way.

Holy mother of God, this is going to be awesome. There were so few things wrong with the first game, and so much potential! If they've just improved and built on the original recipe (which seems to be the case) this could well be the most fantastic and amazing game to be released in the year of our Lord 2010.

It wasn't really annoyed by it, rather I thought it was slightly funny. I mean, I could just ignore them, right? So far they've been pretty fast and easy, and gives me XP, and knowing there's only 40 of them in all, I'd rather do them over the course of the game, than during free roam.

I was just promoted to vice, and got ten street crimes before I was able to make my way to the first crime scene. With almost clockwork-like precision, every time I started to get close, the radio would crackle about gunshots fired somewhere, and I would hit the sirens and make a u-turn. Without failure, the location of the street crime would be on the other side of town (I didn't really check the map, but that's what it felt like, anyway.) I've done almost half of them now, and from what they've been like so far (chasing and shooting men), I think 40 of them is about right for the whole game.

Dead Island fails to live up to its name and is in fact alive

I think I'm actually starting to prefer slick PR voice-over guys doing these videos. Also, I was a bit disappointed with the trailer. The graphics and setting seem incredible (and as always I wish someone would make an immersive adventure game with this level of graphics quality) but the game looked like it wanted to be Dead Rising and World of Warcraft at the same time. Could be awesome, of course. As always, we'll see. -
Sorry for spoiling everyone's fun. I guess I didn't consider it a spoiler in the real sense, since it's not an important plot point (or so I assume since they're writing about it in the preview.) I really hate it when something I'm looking forward to is spoiled, so I know how angry you must feel. In my defense, it sort of comes at you gradually as you read it, so in theory you should be able to abort the reading operation before the juicy details are revealed. Still, a spoiler is a spoiler, and I'm not going to try to defend what I've done. Although I've covered it up now, many of you have seen it, and the damage is done. I was reckless, I didn't think, I've ruined or severely degraded the game experience for you and for this I apologize. If it's any consolation, I will think twice before posting spoilers from now on. If I could go back and undo what I did, I would – believe me, I would. Hopefully you'll still be able to enjoy parts of the game, even knowing, expecting, and not being surprised by the thing I spoiled when it occurs. I guess we'll only know after it's released, and maybe, hopefully, it'll turn out you still had fun playing.

Looks like I picked the right one, then. I usually pick the 360 version of multi-platform releases, but since I'd been hearing it was developed for PS3 primarily (being a Sony exclusive at one point) I took a chance. As for the framerate, it varies heavily on the PS3 as well. It's particularly noticeable in cut-scenes when they cut from shot to shot.

No, I've watched all of it, and as I said, I think it's pretty funny (though I probably shouldn't have used "sometimes" since apparently I find it funny enough to watch) It's just that the humor is very up-front and obvious, and the joke is the same throughout. It's not subtle. Which is totally fine, obviously. I just prefer those other shows, and would recommend watching them over this, if the person I was giving my recommendation to hadn't already.

Happy birthday Bob Dylan! Also bbX1138!

It's pretty funny sometimes, though the humor is of a pretty particular kind, and doesn't waver at all ever. It's basically Danny McBride being a big stupid redneck asshole to everyone, while they in turn are unrealistically kind and overbearing for the purposes of letting him do his thing. If you've already seen Community, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Archer, The Office, Mr. Show and every other show I forgot, but think is funnier, I guess I would recommend it.

I haven't had any issues with the actual game, and I've been playing for a couple of hours. This game is awesome. After waiting for it for so long, and not being exactly sure how it would be, it's cool to actually get to play it. The facial stuff is neat, though it's really obvious everyone acted with their head in some kind of rig. Nobody really looks at each other, and the really detailed facial animation combined with the slightly aging arms-out-to-the-sides GTA animation is hilarious – I keep expecting gangsters to come out of a car and bro hug me while holding an uzi. I haven't really figured out the interview system yet. I guess I might be approaching it too much like Phoenix Wright, in that I expect to be able to spot whatever's off with the testimony by looking over the evidence. Here, though, it seems they want me to use my gut feeling and some amount of guesswork. I keep failing at this, but I guess I might go back and retry the earlier cases when I've figured out how it's done. I get the impression cases can play out really differently depending on how well you interview people, and I hope replaying old cases will reveal some of that. Also, now I feel terrible whenever I run into other cars and benches.

Got it today. Impressions so far: Downloaded patch right away. Installer told me my game data was corrupt and it had to fix it. Started up the game, opened the DLC screen, and the game froze with looping audio. Restarted the game, opened the DLC screen, same thing happened. Big disappointment. From what I understand, both Sony and Rockstar are handling the thing like proper corporate assholes, too. edit: I realise the hanging probably has to do with the PS store being down, but the fact that the game hangs makes me dubious about their computer skills.

You should embed a youtube of you reading that line, to clarify.

I think you have become... too indie. Activision would totally do a sequel.

Biology doesn't really keep us from being inbred. It's just evolution motivating us not to. My point was that religion has at times taken the place of educating the masses, making them not do stupid things by telling them it's morally wrong instead of explaining the real reason (maybe because nobody knew the real reason.) Religious dietary laws are a good example of this, I think. I'm not advocating this method of controlling people in today's society, but my impression is it has proven useful. Also, saying that religion's positive contributions are impossible to prove, but that the negative ones are quite easy to point out seems a tad unfair. There's a difference between religion causing something to happen (impossible, since religion in itself cannot do anything,) and assholes using religion to give legitimacy and cause for people to go on countless wars and slaughters, and hindering the use of condoms in AIDS-ridden Africa. There's a difference between religion and what people that are religious are doing. I haven't thought/read about this as much as I should, but maybe I would say religious fundamentalism is bad, whilst religion is maybe too general a concept to really critique?

I noticed Dan tweeting it, and completely love your new site. I also posted a comment on your site, and due to some technical difficulties it disappeared after a short while. As for the "fifth size of game" thing, it seems almost like I'm supposed to know what it means, but also almost like it ironically means nothing. Maybe that's what you were going for? You should know that changing your name does not free you from your obligation to make another hilarious point and click adventure game.

Those were the exact things I was thinking about.

Little Big Adventure is the motherfucking cat's pajamas. What's so good about it? Oh, let's see, The sequel is better than the first game, It's super fucking awesome, like BG&E on crack with sausage paratroopers on crack, Laser beams are affected by gravity. It was a painful period for me, watching Adeline go from having just made what I consider to be some of the best games ever made, to making Toy Commander and Battle Tag, a game released in Texas and Canada.

I'm not sure I agree. From what I understand, religion has had some very useful applications in the field of keeping people alive and well and not inbred.

I'm in this thing also. Hyperlink comes: http://www.obsidianportal.com/profile/toblix So, from which of the infinite isles would a human chaotic sorcerer who lost everything (everything!) typically come from? Humans as a race are spread pretty evenly. Sorcerers are not uncommon, and "arcane magic requires either much study, fey blood or some highly unusual magical incident." Maybe Beardhat McElectric (name is a work in progress)... lost everything in a highly unusual magical incident!

This sounds like your thing.
