  1. Mirror's Edge 2

While not exactly announced or confirmed, EA's Frank Gibeau tells us that EA "hasn't killed Mirror's Edge." http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2011-electronic-arts/715358 (10:30)
  2. Cities in Motion

My interest, she is awoke. I will buy this.
  3. L.A. Noire

They're not substantial at all, but they're all unique. They have a custom introduction sequence, and then there's some short fight and/or chase sequence, and that's it.
  4. L.A. Noire

They're hard to miss. While you're driving, the radio crackles about something going down, and you hit X (or A, I guess) and a yellow portal man appears on the map and radar, usually on the far side of town.
  5. L.A. Noire

Just finished this, and I'm quite happy with it. The final sections sort of and the whole thing with the In the end, disappointingly, the huge city didn't really do much for me. In the GTA games I really got to know the entire game map really well by the end, but here it felt like just a bunch of streets and houses that could just as well have been procedurally generated. Obviously there are those who will appreciate the work more than me (I've never been to LA), and I guess since it's Rockstar they have to do a huge sandbox open world with everything, but it feels like they could've dropped the LA reconstruction open world part altogether and still have almost the same game. I'm sure they could have evoked the same sort of mood and place without mapping out the entire city. Hilariously, during the game I got one of the hidden badges by accident, and one of the movie reels. Anyone know if these are hidden pigeon-style around town, or are they all in crime scenes and the like? As for the street crimes, I got 36, but it seems like there's no real way of getting the last ones. I tried some free-roaming, but just got ones I've already done. Also, there's no indication of what vehicles I've ridden in, or what weapons I've killed men with. I wonder how many people are going to go after – and complete – these achievements. There's no way of keeping track of anything. edit: There are hints for the canisters and badges at the social club, apparently.
  6. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Well, that's what I meant. Who wants to play with the guy who is the only one with his own six inch touch screen?
  7. Far Cry 3

That "definition" of insanity, where does it come from? It sounds like something someone came up with and thought was sort of clever.
  8. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

With even a new wiimote and nunchuck combo costing as much it does, won't extra wiiumotes be prohibitively expensive with regards to setting up a three or four player setup? They look like pretty advanced gadgets.
  9. E3 2K11

The Steam chat is full of boys now.
  10. Life

None of them understood where the sound comes from?
  11. Far Cry 3

The weirdest thing: When I look at that, for some reason it seems to float upwards, like damage info in an CRPG.
  12. Sydney, Australia

Anyone here in or from or around Sydney? Written on my iPhone
  13. Far Cry 3

Do you fucking know what the fucking definition of fucking insanity is fucking?

Sydney, New Year's Eve. Tips, suggestions?
  20. Tomb Raider

A trailer is: RN7_8Yholm4 I think this is the least perverted trailer for a game with a female protagonist I've ever seen, which is interesting.
  21. Okay, so this game which I, for some reason thought was a multiplayer-focused DLC thing, have ignored, turns out to be a full single player sequel, running on the same engine as AC2, with some revised mechanics. There's a huge god damn Rome you're running around in, and it has you buying buildings Fable style and managing a small army of assassins. Check out the Giant Bomb quicklook; it made me want it. The large map is just ridiculous.
  22. Questions about PSP and PS2

I love back when I was amazed and astounded by huge virtual cities like in the GTA games. I simply couldn't believe anyone would consider or be able to create the sheer amount of assets needed, especially when most of it would never be seen by the player. It was like a paradigm shift; coming from linear games or open games with procedural or not-worth-mentioning content, I would find a street corner, look down one way and think "Jesus, I can just walk down that street and everything I pass will be hand made!" I would repeat this for each cardinal direction. In the distance I'd see a skyscraper, a stadium or some cranes at the docks, and for the first time I knew I could at any point make my way there, and at no point would the "skyscraper level" load – I was already looking at it, and the closer I got, the more detail was revealed, until I was right there. I was equally impressed with this for each of the 3D GTA games (the 2D ones were more obviously tile-based) including GTA IV. I would speak to everyone about how everything was there – even back alleys with garbage cans! – and grow frustrated at how I failed to produce any enthusiasm. I had started to consider Rockstar semi-gods in this department. As far as I knew, they were the only ones who kept making huger and huger areas of highly detailed cities (also their games were great fun.) Then Mafia 2: The Disappointening happened, during the playing of which I realised that any developer can make huge levels and fill them with detail, and that it was just something they chose to do if they wanted to make an open world sandbox game. A little part of me died, and now when I play L.A. Noire, for example, I'm not at all impressed by the city. I just speed by thousands upon thousands of houses, stores, billboards and parks and take it all for granted. It makes me a little sad that I'm no longer blown away by what is obviously amazing work. Short version: It was more fun to open Google Earth for the first time than it is now.
  23. E3 2K11

If Capcom announces the English translation of Gyakuten Kenji 2 during E3 I will send each and every one on this forum a crisp thousand dollar bill. I will send you the money.
  24. Frozen Synapse

Yeah, I think there's an offline mode somewhere that prevents that.
  25. Batman: Arkham City

Well, that certainly lowered my expectations.
