Okay, so before I make a critical (LOL!) mistake, could you explain how this works together with the Obsidian Portal thing, and should I register on this forum as myself or as my character (which remains unnamed)? I don't want to embarrass myself by making rookie mistakes!

Looking at the origin.com website, it seems to me that either EA is clueless when it comes to digital distribution and the web in general (which I think is very likely) or they've rushed out a beta version to leverage consumer awareness of their Battlefield™ franchise to strengthen their quarterly sales projections or some shit. Currently it looks like a marketing guy wrote the contents, a programmer did the art and a lawyer went through everything and inserted ™ symbols.

They should've called it 3attlefield.

From my experience with EA's online stuff (trying to let my Sister play her copy of Spore), EA and their Origin service can take their entire amateur operation and twist it right up their huge corporate asshole. That said, BF3 looks like it could be fun. If they decide to put it on Steam I'll probably get it.

WHAT
-
Well, he did work on this game.

Anyway. I forgot to mention I played it some more, starting on the campaign, and things are starting to make more sense. Definitely unpolished, but there's also something there I can't wait to get back to.

Actually, I was under the impression IBM had abandoned Cell (http://arstechnica.com/hardware/news/2009/11/end-of-the-line-for-ibms-cell.ars) but it turns out they're still working on it. I guess PS4 might still be Cell-based, then.

In the case of the PS3, developers would have to almost completely scratch their engines, seeing as the PS4 definitely won't be using the same architecture. I expect the next generation of consoles to be more similar and PC-like, with more CPU, RAM, GPU, etc.

There's a liveblog here, and it sounds pretty terrible.

Large bottles of Coca-Cola and bags of those yellow greasy, ass-smelling snacks Americans like.

That's unbelievable!

So, I'm assuming almost everyone has spent the last 24 hours playing this game. How is it? Disappointing? Surprisingly good? Fun? Crude?
-
Is everyone on this thing now?

There's been little talk about this, considering how great the first game was. Has anyone tried it? Is it as fun and frustrating as DR1?
-
But... if you're exposed to it... who knows what'll happen?!

Also, I played the entire game in black and white, and for the replays I turned the color back on and it turns out there's color everywhere. Additionally, the collectible challenges are quite fun when you use the hints from the Social Club. Actually, check out the Social Club – there's all sorts of cool statistics and graphs.

Yeah, you're obviously right. I'm not in a courtroom after all.

I guess I'm just being too Phoenix Wright about it again. I considered showing the receipt since it definitely links him to the location, but the way he literally challenged me to prove he was there made me think it wasn't decisive enough. I probably shouldn't be looking for and expecting clear contradictions.

I'm trying to do the cases again for better ratings, using fast travel and everything. I still do the same mistakes, though. Could this game be some sort of mild aspergers detector? These fucking people, they look confidently straight at me, or their eyes dart around, they swallow, they bite their lips, they smile briefly, but whether they're lying or telling the truth still seems completely random. Also, in the first traffic case, with the bloody car in the rail yard: how does the receipt with the guy's name on it prove he was there? I failed an interrogation, because apparently I was supposed to use it as evidence, which to me seems weak.

I think you're confusing Transport Tycoon with Theme Park.

It looks really good, but the interface is god-awful terrible. It's not just badly thought out or implemented, or ugly, or impractical – it's practically unusable. Trying to build tracks or metro stations feels like manually defragmenting a hard disk. There's just red splotches everywhere and I move the mouse around until something is green and then I click.

Transport Tycoon Deluxe, now OpenTTD, is one of the best ever games. Sid Meier is king.
