It was I! I stalked her. Me and Armchair.

I'm going away for the next two weeks, so I probably won't be able to join this thing, but it sounds like great fun to read about.

Okay, I see what you mean. Yeah, it's always weird seeing these demos where everything fits together so well. There were definitely moments where I thought "but what if the player ...", and it was quite clear they're just playing out their part of the script. It'll be interesting to see how these situations actually appear in the final game; if they try to consider various player reactions, or if the game just awkwardly goes on doing its thing while you're jumping around shooting everyone in the face. As for the big huge, giant combat set piece at the end, I bet they end up blocking off parts and then guiding the player with clear objectives to navigate them through it.

What do you mean "faked"? There was definitely some sequences that will most likely take away player control or limit it, but that's nothing new. What are you talking about, specifically?

For all the talk about story and gameplay meshing, it really doesn't seem that much more progressive in that regard than Half-Life, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, etc. The setting seems more than interesting enough in itself, though, and the combat looks insane. Judging by what I've seen so far I'll buy it for a number of reasons: I really enjoyed Bioshock, except for the combat, which it seems like they've improved upon quite a bit here. The visuals and setting are fantastic. Hopefully the game will let me walk around and take in the sights of these magnificent floating buildings in between the combat set pieces. It has Chris Remo and Steve Gaynor in it.

So, wait, is it multimedia?

I'm free tonight, and then not for two weeks.

I... might be able to make this work. It involves pirates and dolphins and Xbox controllers, but since it's basically impossible to get a hold of through proper channels, it's fine.
-
I would be in for this if I could track down a copy of the game.

What! Now that you say it's a mask I see it too, but before I was convinced it was some sort of cybergun. This makes it even more interesting.

Boy oh boy did you guys miss the most epic Arma 2 game I've ever been a part of! Me and Poo stirred up all sorts of shit around the battlefield. Now we're riding in a chopper, Poo manning the big guns while I'm the crew chief, and then we're kicked. Now we're driving across Soviet Russia in a terrible car, Poo giving me directions from his military map where you have to physically move your compass out of the way, me killing the lights and coming slowly to a stop without hitting a tree as we crest the last hill outside the enemy compound. Now I'm moving a giant FAC circle around the battlefield, pointing out the enemy to Poo, who picks the off one by one as they leave the nearby wooden coppice. They have technology that lets them teleport back and forth at random, but Poo's aim is true and his NATO rounds find their target still, enemy or no. Also we spent like 20 minutes running around on an aircraft carrier because nobody on board was an actual pilot.

Here, let me try: HEY HO IT'S THE JULY 2011 SEMIANNUAL IDLE THUMBS ARMA 2 MULTIPLAYER SESSION! WHEN? NOW!
-
I don't know if you heard about it from Chris' tweet too, but I didn't know anything about it before, and now I can't wait.

It would be interesting if they made the damage to your cars persistent, so you had to pay for repairs, or lose the car entirely. Well, maybe not interesting.

I think the best part is ramming you from behind just as you've slowed down for a turn.

Would have to be Thursday for me.

So someone went ahead and made RISK for the iPad. Now, Electronic Arts™ already made an official app. I haven't tried that, but this other game Conquist 2 is pretty fun regardless of copyright infringement. The presentation is slick, and there are quite a few maps; there's the Risk one, a number of other real-world maps and a couple of abstract ones. I'm still playing on the Risk map, going to the trophies, and it's fun. If you have an iPad you can check it out or whatever. It has multiplayer, which could be fun. I haven't tried it, so.

I don't know nothing about no "win" button. I haven't played the iPhone version, but imagine it must be terrible on such a small screen.

I know at least one huge giant corporation that does this. I'm not going to name names, but they rhyme with "Schnapple Schmomputers".

My hat has come all the way off for you, sir. I started collecting badges and reels, but quickly realized I did not have the strength of character to pull it off. Mad props, to be sure!

What? I don't understand this! Write like normal folks, not like some fancy professor!

I just did the shooting gallery, and the gyro controls are all messed up. For some reason, when you restart, the game resets the controls assuming you're still aiming where you last shot, which is usually of to the side. So, if I retry the game with the screen pointing forward, everything is offset weirdly, so I have to bend over to compensate. It's weird. Anyhow, this game seems pretty fun.

It's better than sticking i's and j's together in every single word like the dirty, disease-ridden Dutch.

Unlike Poo, I like persons!
