I was only able to frap the first couple of matches, as it started stuttering badly after a while. Next time I'll try playing in 1080p so I can frap everything.

Hmm, it wasn't like that for me. Maybe there's something wrong with you?

Isn't that the most famous UT map of all time? It's the one I remember best anyway.

Pretty happy with that one.

No, I was actually thinking of physical size, as I understood the commissioning thing to be physical medium and not digital (« I will not be able to do anything like a vector design or a digital painting») ...

I was thinking I should have more stuff on my walls. What are the dimensions for the thing? Are there even dimensions?

Licenses/Commercial Restrictions (in the context of 3ds Max
toblix replied to lordgankoo's topic in Game Development
While I stopped ********* video games long ago, I still feel nothing when I ********* super expensive software just for playing around and experimenting with. I figure the worst thing that can happen is that I learn the program and need it to make an actual commercial thing at some point. -
This being an «industry event,» which I'm interpreting as something directly work-related (also, since a boss is there), it sounds like a place where nobody should be trying to find out where any «lines» go, though serving alcohol does in a way go a little counter to that, as there's bound to be people who can't handle it. Of course, the kind of comment she got doesn't really fall anywhere on the flirting/suggestive spectrum, just somewhere on the asshole one. Also, obviously nobody should feel like they're obligated to stand up for «the cause» or confront someone about stuff like this for anything but personal reasons.

That sounds interesting. I found this internet home page: http://www.gameaudiohour.com/

The "what the crap was that game called again?" thread

It's more about him showing the very first puzzles, and showing an example of how the player will be taught their rules by gradually increasing complexity, much like Braid did with its mechanics. He doesn't spoil any great revelation or anything, though he is very cavalier about just debugging up into the sky and panning across the whole island. I like how he's completely confident in the core design of his game, and doesn't keep stuff hidden or mysterious just for the sake of marketing or whatever. Instead of promising to let you explore hundreds of unique and exotic locations he just goes «here, I'll show you where you'll go».

Yeah, the turnout was excellent. I think we broke a record.

Apparently not! As I said, I was just speculating. Let's cancel my idea.

So I have a crazy idea for this channel, and it's based not on research or experience, but wild speculation. My idea is that everyone de-ops, or whatever it's called. The reason is that having two (or three) different «classes» of users on there may not feel as welcoming to newcomers as a more egalitarian thing. For example, I like that these forums don't do much in the way of stars or emblems other than for admins (as far as I know), as it prevents the thing where nobody wants to argue with the guy with a chestful of medals (though there is the post count, which goes counter to my argument) From what I understand, and correct me if I'm wrong, everyone with op can still do all the op stuff when needed, so we wouldn't be in any danger of losing the channel, which I gather is something that could happen for some reason. This could be a horrible idea.

And when we're done tagging Steam games with hilarious in-jokes we can stealthily insert a bunch of Idle Thumbs Crusader Kings II references into lesser-visited historical articles on Wikipedia!

«Weapon interactions» sounds like a military industrial complex euphemism. -

Did you hear about this exploration-focused adventure game that looks really beautiful and intends to “capture the atmosphere of games like The Dig, the quieter moments of Metroid Prime, and other such titles?” As a fan of exploring interesting environments without necessarily shooting anyone, this is high on my list of anticipated software, up there with «Obduction» and «The Witness». Here's the web site, but you should probably read this preview on RPS instead.

Walking Dead, Mark of the Ninja, Bioshock 2, The Cave vets form Campo Santo
toblix replied to JonCole's topic in Video Gaming
So, Campo Santo's first game. I haven't listened to all the podcasts, so I don't have the freshest scoops, but I know Jake registered domains for it, which tells me they have a name, or at least enough of an idea to come up with a candidate name. Since you can't have a name without at least a concept or idea or plot or core mechanic, I'm speculating/hoping we'll hear an announcement – or something close to one – pretty soon, as in this year. Have they said anything on the casts about it, or has anyone picked up hints or tips on social media, Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn? -
Wait what. It never said Alien?
