  1. The Golden Compass Film WTF?

The audio books are really good. I've really become a big audio book fan recently; they allow u to enjoy books while doing something else.

Because it is an adaptation on a character, it could be that year one is poor representation of Batman, but he captures Batman's essence so well in his 2 Dark Knight books (I know they are oposite ends of the bat's life but still), I will go and read year one and then re-watch the film and pass judgement again. I'd be really gutted if year one is as poor a representation of of what I love about Batman. It will make cry.
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

I really love batman he is one of my favourite comic book heroes, as action films goes it was alright (IMO) but for comic/film adaptations I prefer the burton/300/Sin city style. Apart from the story I feel there is very little Batman about it.
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

I haven't read year one, but I can't believe that he is that different to other incarnations of the bat, it really is a dull fim to watch that tries far to hard to be set in the "real world". And Bale's complete lack of acting ability in the film is not wrong. He really fails to convey the emotions and turmoil that he should. Rather than jsut saying I'm wrong tell me why I am.
  5. Movie/TV recommendations

I 'm not that excited about the new bat film, the first one was king of the meh. It was a generic action film with a batman skin tacked on, it lacked any proper nod to its comic heritage and Bale's “lets act like a plank” method completely missed the character of the Bat, he is tortured, full of hate and the need for revenge but desperately trying not to go over the edge, not an emo twat.
  6. At that point her real face is very exaggerated and she lifts her eyebrows up loads, the translation into the virtual model is worst, partly largely because the white of her eyes is too white. I agree with wrestle, she does deliver some of her lines really nicely (despite the spacko bits where it all goes a bit mammaerrmam) but she doesn't know what to do with her face while delivering those lines so completely overacts and accentuates all her facial motions, then the motion capture exaggerates it even more.
  7. I think u're being too harsh on the makers of heavy rain, have u seen the audition tape of the woman who the character is based on, she looks like she’s from the uncanny valley, so they either did a really good job in making the film and a terrible one in casting or did a brilliant job in casting (by finding the most unrealistic person ever) that covers up their inability to make a realistic person. I thought the voice was either computer generated or done by a deaffo, but it turns out she is not a native of an English speaking country which is why the voice goes a bit mental in bits (getting a non English speaking person to speak English adds weight to the case that they cast her because she was the most unrealistic person they could find.) or could be as they made it France or something. Check it out here

  11. Holy Shit!

Man to think penis before u thought wrist is wrong there, I know spaff doesn't have hair all over his cock. Also in the first photo Britney is Pregnant
  12. Holy Shit!

what looks like a penis in the christina picture, if Istruggle I can kind of see one in her elbow.
  13. Holy Shit!

When they were both starting their careers and the school talk was who'd you rather britney or Christina, I was the only one who came down on Christina (or should I say went down on), she had this sexy aura around her that I found lacking in Britney. I couldn't understand why so many people seemed besotted with her Britney's vanilla sexual packaging. Around her slave for time Britney was looking very good (but still never got the sex appeal down IMO), but then Christina countered with Dirty and dominated once again. even tho Christina has lost the Dirty vibe and stolen the Scarlet Johanson's 1920's sexy elegance style I'm still liking what she does, sadly I can't say the same about britney. W00t that trip down memory lane of pop princess attraction in my mid teens has spared me 5 minutes of thinking about preconditioned conjugate Gradient methods, thank Yufster.
  14. I think this needs some more facts in The fact is I KNEW IT WAS YOU BECAUSE the fact that NOBODY ELSE RINGS THE DOORBELL IN QUITE THE SAME INSISTENT WAY AS YOU. Except now of course Ginger will start doing that too BECAUSE THE FACT THAT IT'LL wind me up. Also THE FACT OF whether a door is open, or closed, or slightly ajar (as A FACT it was slightly ajar, not just wide open as you seem to have suggested AS A FACT). That is a FACTUAL lesson you need to learn Dan AS A MATTER OF FACT. Also the fact you asked if I was "decent" was completely negated by the fact that you then came in ANYWAY after I said "no". The fact you didn't see that I was still wet from the shower at least means you didn't stare too hard at me, that FACT IS a little bit reassuring at least. FACT FACT FACT FACTITY FACT FACT I shouldn't mock as the way you wrote did convey your anger well (and I have the writing style and competency of a 10 year old) and now I have probably diverted some of that rage away from Dan onto myself BTW Is it ok if I'm come round to yours late afternoon\early evening to get something off Spaff (a big fat kiss), I wont' be coming until he is home (and have sorted it out with him) but I thought I'd check with you (Dan make a note of how to be polite)
  15. Greenpeace video game campaign video (LOL)

So the people who are providing suggestions for the future aren't practicing 100% of what they preach, so what? It would be foolish to dismiss their arguments for that reason alone. Big wow u can out argue them on technicalities, so what then? I get that it is propaganda and when propaganda is thrown at me my usual reaction is to find flaws (which will nearly always exist) and dismiss it, but that is just as foolish as blindly accepting it. Their proposals my not be entirely effective in achieving what they set out to, even an 80% cut in 1997 levels of emission is unlikely to prevent catastrophic consequences, but trying all we can to make improvements will reduce the extent of the problems and give future solutions a better platform from which to launch. So until I hear a better plan I try to follow those that exist, reduce my carbon emissions and encourage others to do the same. Just because the plan or the preachers are not perfect is no reason to stick your head in the sand. If u want to show everyone how clever u are come up with some better ideas rather than bitching about other peoples.

  17. Greenpeace video game campaign video (LOL)

It's bad, but we all watched it and are now talking about it, and I was not aware that the production of consoles was so environmentally unfriendly and now I am. Next time i buy a console how green it is will be factor in which one I purchase.
  18. Honesty & Integrity

Ok it was an over simplified hypothetical situation designed to show how the editor might be pulled in different directions. I think one problem with the way we look at this is that for (probably most of) us gaming is a passion not a profession and we disassociate it from the professional aspect of our lives. But it is an industry and it's priority is to make money. Having been a dirty student most of my life I'm dependent on the experience of others here, but with almost no exceptions, everyone I know has "taken it the up arse" someway or another in their professional lives. So why should our hypothetical editor set a higher standard for himself than we do, because he works in an industry that we are passionate about?
  19. hahahaha, interrupting sex can be good, if I interrupt while in my sexy thong it means a good time all round.

  21. Honesty & Integrity

I think that's unfair. So u are the editor and owner of a medium sized gaming website, the site has moved beyond being amateur and you pay your writers for content, u don't make much money but u keep your head above water and you are doing what u love. U have a good sized but not wahussive (Scottish for very big, thanks bob) group of readers. One publisher has a big advertising deal with you that gives u a large chunk of your income, the publisher can pull out whenever it wants. From the publisher's point of view the deal is worth it but not essential. Then you have a draft review of their latest big game that they have sunk millions into and it gets slated, from the publisher's point of view it would no longer be worth their while to advertise on your site, the negative review has greater influence on the readership than the adverts. The editor also knows that finding a replacement for the publisher will be difficult (especially with the growing oligarchic nature of publishing). So the editor has a choice, sacrifice your editorial integrity and edit the review so that it focuses on the good a bit more than the bad and increment the score a bit, then you can continue with your site with most of the content being uncompromised, u just have to sell your soul for your publisher's games. Or you can keep your integrity the publisher pulls out, the site is no longer financially viable, u become amateur again, the quantity and quality of your the site is likely to drop hugely ( far beyond the level of the slightly compromised site) I guess you could try not reviewing it at all, but this could make the publisher unhappy and cause them to pull out and if this became the way everyone dealt with the problem, “no review” would become a kiss of death equal to that of a poor review. So what does a "good" editor do, oversee the death of his livelihood and passion (as well as the livelihood of his writers) your compromise himself slightly. I know this is a highly hypothetical situation but it shows it's not as simple as a good or bad editor. A very large sight has the advantage that it has bargaining power and it is probably more important for the publisher to stay on their good side. Where as the medium sized companies have very little bargaining power when dealing with the publishers.
  22. Blactivision - Actard

I've got to say I don't see what Blizzard gain from this, I guess they want to crack the console market, but I don't think activision brings that much to the table. They have a few successful series under their belt but I've never thought of them as a particularly good publisher and a lot trash seems to spew out the door (hopefully that won't be contagious). I guess the growing production costs of games pushes publishers towards oligarch-erisation but I don’t think that trend is good for the developers nor consumers.
