  1. "Dear Blizzard"

If you don't consider perfectionism a flaw then I would a have to say you are not a perfectionist, it's fucking horrible never being happy with anything you've done, having people congratulate you for something that when u look at it or remember all you can see are flaws, spending days on insignificant parts because u can't face doing it half arsed (even if you did you could get the desired result in hours). Meeting people you may be interested in and not being able to stop focusing on every tiny detail that makes them slightly wrong for you. I could also see why an employer would see it as a terrible attribute, after a certain point in nearly every project you'll be getting diminishing returns of quality with respect to time and effort put in, so as an employer I could pay you for 100 hours of work for something of exceptional quality or 150 for two things of excellent quality, the latter is probably preferable in most cases.
  2. Someone in the department (who is very fat and therefore a trusted source of sci-fi knowledge) said that they were doing a prequel series on the first cylon war next (this has probably been said before on these forums, if so sorry) As for watching this, yes the pilot and the first 2 series are some of the best tv sci-fi I've seen, an awesome mix of politics, sci-fi, mysticism, the 3rd series seems to split most people and bits of the 3rd and 4th were universally seen as meh. But overall well worth a watch.
  3. Holy fuck! (For Bill Hicks fans only...)

I think that is a common feeling for any cultural phenomenon that you don't see at the time, Hicks influenced a generation of comedians so much of his essence has been rehashed by others over the past 15 years, this means that when u go back and see what he did having been inadvertently exposed his comedy its impact can be greatly reduced.
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

It's not, at the end of the first ep it says that you have to drink the vampire blood to turn into one.
  5. How I Met Your Mother

Answer: She was giving me a lift to something and I got her to swing by yours and pick up you and Spaff. I find the show ok, the sort of thing I would have on if nothing else was on but i wouldn't give it my full attention (back in the days when i watched too much TV).
  6. Godless in America

I haven't seen it, but fanatical atheists with very strong "faith" in their beliefs and a desire to spread them throughout the world make me laugh.
  7. What... The... Fuck...???

Oh may have just seen it now, i think I was going too abstract and not realising that I was staring the answer in the face, I can see how that slipped through.
  8. What... The... Fuck...???

I don't see it, I've been trying to visualise it many different twisted and dirty ways but can't see what is wrong with it. HALP MEH PLX
  9. Movie/TV recommendations

I agree, but I still wouldn't say it is a feel good film.
  10. Movie/TV recommendations

Just saw Slumdog millionaire I enjoyed it, but can't believe it is touted as a feel good film (saw one advert that described it as as the feel good movie of the decade. spoiler: it's like being raped for an hour but then having the fact that you had an orgasm at the end somehow make up for the horror you endured.
  11. Taken from this article about how wow is responsible for student dropouts. I agree that this is a possibility it could have an adverse affect, but wonder if those how are "addicted" distract themselves by other means if it wasn't for wow. Also I think the article is taking quite a strong stance in favour of the statement considering that the only evidence it supplies to support it's claim is that in one university 5 individuals have reported that their addiction is having adverse affects on their studies.
  12. Schafer Interview

    I think it's neither.
  13. What... The... Fuck...???

I think the rabble rousing of the print media here is a reaction to their struggle to stay alive in the internet age. I rarely buy the guardian now (partly as it's not that good any more) but also as I can pretty much read the entire paper for free online.
  14. Merry fucking Christmas

    hahahahahahahahahahaha, very good.
  15. Merry fucking Christmas

<In cunt mode> I had an awesome Christmas, the food and booze were soooooo good, YaY Christmas <cunt mode over> <In consolation mode> P.s. yuf the year wasn't all bad, at least no one we know got anally raped (although I guess the year isn't quite over) <consolation mode failed>
  16. Spike VGA awards

Predictions have some margin of error built into them, you would never say "I know" this will occur in a prediction (that's what annoyed me) The very fact that there is only about 10 seconds of gameplay included and that is all they could piece together seems to be very discouraging. The driving bits looked slow, boring and unresponsive (that boss fight reminded me of those horrible exploration sections from Mass effect) the riding on the animal bit seemed hideously similar to the driving, and in the brief bit of combat we saw the enemies seemed sluggish and dull as did the hero's attack. This is meant to be an action game, imagine how much awesome combat and giant bosses you could show in a 10 second GOW trailer and compare it to that, when compared to that I think little else can be used to describe than piss poor. If we see more and it looks good I'll happily change my mind and be thrilled to play an awesome game.
  17. Spike VGA awards

The action looked piss poor, the gameplay seemed to mirror the worst aspects of mid-late 90s gaming (something I would also say about psychonauts) and the jokes weren't funny (to be fair I've never really liked Schafer's comedy). Fuck you all for your blind faith that you "know" the game is going to be great, as Schafer is making it. Stop being a bunch of yes men, you are usually justifiably critical about most games, be honest, voice your concerns about aspects of the game that look sub-par and they may be able to greatly improve them before release, sit there and worry about hurting your friend/demi-God's feelings and u let his game design slip into mediocrity
  18. he/she = e

    what's wrong with "it"?
  19. Wrath of the Lich King

It's because u are a rogue, rogues used to gank the fuck out everyone back in the classic days, so lots of people have a very strong hatred of them, so if they see one un-stealthed in combat they're going to let them know what they think of you, esp as it won' take that long (my rogue was the most ganked toon I ever had, STV was so painful with him). Also you tend to pvp while questing, so people get nuased and get alts or mates to get revenge, I'm much more peaceful than you so don't commence a circle of violence and am very rarely ganked. I really like the anticipation of being on a PvP realm u have to really keep an eye for danger, and when someone of comparable power attacks you it can be great fun. It does suck when people of a much higher level attacks you or when you're virtually dead from questing, but both of these are very rare events for me.
  20. This is my favourite song of all time

Fuck you all for talking about music in Cartoons and not mentioning Transformers the Movie you should all burn in the lowest circle of hell.
  21. Movie/TV recommendations

I really like him, but feel he's been over-exposed with his work on Mock the Week and The Now Show thus reducing his impact. Listening to this week's episode of the Now Show made me really miss The News Quiz and its left leaning comedy.
  22. Movie/TV recommendations

Given the recent Wire loving, thought I post this Louis Theroux's look at law and order in phili.
  23. My battle with Which.co.uk

You could have put that at the start of the post
  24. Left 4 Dead - Four Pack Buying Extravaganza

That sounds an awful lot like implicit collusive pricing and is illegal here and is most proabably illegal in the US, it probably wouldn't be that hard to show that given the elastic demand of buying games on steam that they could be better off by pricing their product more competitively and if the reason that they don't is because they don't want to damage relations with a fellow retailer then I call collusion (even if no explicit deal has been brokered) This case could be won (but I doubt it'd be beneficial to the consumer and would probably result in the death of steam) I urge someone less apathetic than I to take up the mantle, if we shift power away from the retailers it would probably be massively beneficial for the industry (then all we'd have to do is take power from the dumb execs and we might have an ok industry)
  25. Left 4 Dead - Four Pack Buying Extravaganza

Even with a decent dollar/sterling exchange rate $50 seems a lot for a game on steam. Has there ever been any justification for why games cost so much on steam? No production, shipping, storage or shop costs ok u've got to pay for the servers but that can't can't be that expensive, can it?
