  1. THE END OF GAMELIFE?!?!?

That boy will not fair well in prison
  2. My turn to have a blog now.

That's because you're a girl and started posting news about what shoes Miyamoto was wearing and what Allard was doing with his hair.
  3. Is this really the first time they teamed up? Didn't they join forces in the 1940's to defeat Hitler (their ally ¬¬¬¬)?
  4. hopefully there will be a pie eating contest so that mario can actually be competive (although we all know wario would rule) Have u played Rayman on the Wii? I prefer button mashing to Wi-mote wanking, after a while it becomes bloody knackering.
  5. I'm a three, there is very little that excites me at the mo, that could be because I have a lot of time on my hands and everything worth playing gets digested very quickly. There is a lot in the future that I'm getting me going, like most people Bioshock is near the top, as is quake wars and team fortress, I really want to PC game again. Bit excited about the new pokemon, I've never played one before. But at this current time I feel very meh about gaming and most games I check out give a transient break from the meh and don't leave me with that feeling that I've played something epic. Is it just me or has the novelty of the Wii multiplayer worn off, I feel the need for a multiplayer game on it that has that Mario Kart formula; being instantly accessible and fun, but takes a bit of effort to master?

Kenty, who sometimes pokes his vole head up on the forums, me, being as normal, quiet and composed as ever, and some ten year old girl who will never be the same again.
  7. I would have loved Adam West to do a commentary on the former, that'd be brilliant.
  8. Sci-fi renaissance or Xbox rut?

gaming hardware Fashion FTWI don't think that the Sci-Fi renaissance is just in gaming, it can be seen in film and TV, I'm amazed at how many non-geeky people I know that love BSG (not that they shouldn't, just that in the past the science fiction tag would have impeded them from being able to get into it.)
  9. Tim Burton's Batman or the 70's movie where all the bad guys gang up together and Batman's helicopter gets attacked by a shark but luckily he has a can of shark repellent?
  10. That doesn't hold, as time isn't linear in the terminator series. After the decision was made in T3 to send one back, skynet could then choose to send one back to an earlier time, this would ( I assume in this made up Si fi physics) change the flow of time so that the events of T3 didn't happen as shown. Although this could be an unwise decision as you've all implied that skynet benefits from the events of T3 (I've never managed to watch it until the end, 2 attempts, twice I've been distracted by more shiny things), but it wouldn't be difficult to write in some justification for the need to send them back.
  11. Not starting an EA hating thread but in an articlefrom BBC news there were a few quotes which made me chuckle. A game that gives no new experiences, are those the games that are just montages of other games, ie retro gaming? AKA brainwash them. Although this could be the great balancer, being put in goal and defence is the punishment that is given to the uncoordinated, unfit, fat kids, so now the stupid kids who can’t game can have the same punishment. I guess if I had to sell fifa 1 billion or hip hop gansta fighting to stupid people I'd just come out with shit like this, and laugh while masturbating on my big pile of money.
  12. Some free advice to Peter Molyneux...

That's bollocks, she just said that she thinks he should learn to not spout so much shit about his new games, and that the good he does within the industry doesn't negate this fact. Yeah she calls him a twat, but he is. I think Vimes’ analogy captures the way a lot of people feel and they'd be able to enjoy his games much more if he learnt to shut his trap a bit.
  13. Some free advice to Peter Molyneux...

Brilliant analogy Captured exactly how Pete makes me feel.
  14. So Chris Heckler took his chance to rant to lay into the Wii. His point about lack of CPU power making truly intelligent AI on the Wii difficult is an interesting one. But laying into Wii/Nintendo for not taking games seriously enough seems ludicrous. There console is the only one not trying to be more than a games machine, and for huge amounts of people it has also made the prospect of picking up a controller and playing a game a much more likely, Nintendo is a company of people who love games. What is taking games seriously, having Guns Tits and Arse 4 on your console? As for the attack on Wii for not progressing games as an art form; I think the Wii takes forward the aspect of gaming that sets it apart as an art form, interactivity. What the hell have the 360 and PS3 done in furthering gaming as an art form had people talk about it in their forums, Woo Yay ¬¬ What artistically creative merits as machines do the 360 and PS3 have that were lacking in their predecessors? (I don’t think more polygons and more detailed textures would have made the experience of shadow of the Colossus anymore immense) He strikes me as being one of those anti bandwagon people, the type who hates things because they are popular, and for having such an immature outlook on life is my Dick of the Week
  15. Every 3rd game announced these days seems to be an MMO, and when u look at 75% of them you can tell they are going to flop instantly and of the 25% left most will just chug along barely retaining the player base to justify keeping the servers going. It seems to me to be the genre where it is only worth putting a game out if it is incredibly well made and polished. WoW's success didn't come by accident, one of the most respected games studios ran years over schedule making it the game it is, and then raised the bar even higher with all the updated features. Yet you still get a heap of these shoddily-made and unoriginal games thinking they can compete with it. I don't know if this is true throughout all consumers (but I assume it is a prevalent way of thinking from what I’ve seen of my peers) but I wouldn't invest in an MMO unless I had a very strong inclination that it was going to be amazing, as they are games which require a huge investment of time, and in most cases, a regular outgoing of money. I can't see many people playing one or two at any given time. So I guess I'm asking why is the market so saturated with new MMOs (many of which seem to be licences at the moment). I don't want to stifle innovation and less-established game studios but it does strike me as a genre of an oligarchic nature, only room to support a few big games, as most of them are designed as games which require a lot of time and have great longevity (they have to be to justify the server charges).

I'm assuming that is Miyamoto's Mii on the t-shirt, it's not that good he needs more wrinkles on the face.
  17. Engine licencing a good deal for ... ?

If you are a larger dev studio once you made a good engine you could use it decent a number of times before it became dated (imagine you have 3 dev teams running in tandem and the engine would probably last 2-3 dev cycles, with a bit of tweaking), making it much cheaper in the long run.
  18. Engine licencing a good deal for ... ?

But didn't lots of games use the HL2's havock physics engine, I seem remember flatout did. Ok jsut done some research and it turns out that Valve licensed the Havok engine off an Irish company and included it the source engine.
  19. Another World - Comic Book!

I really like the look of this and am saddened that it is on hold.
  20. Masturbation is fucking wicked and all of my most intense orgasms have come from it, in the same way PC single player games can be amazing and should not be ignored in this MMO revolution. On a side note does anyone know how effective steam was at impeding piracy, I know it was eventually cracked, but did the extra effort people had to go through in order to pirate hl:2 reduce piracy?
  21. I don't mind paying a £9 subscription for a game I play at least 20 hours a month, remember they regularly bring out new content for it as well as maintaining servers. It's better than the micro-payment that exists in the console market, I remember seeing in oblivion that you would have to pay a few quid to get a new skin for a horse, despite being a rip off that's not so bad, but I can see it growing into micro-payments allowing people in a multiplayer environment to buy better equipment, I don't want to be reminded of my poverty in real life by some rich cunt splatting my brains out with his uber expensive rail gun while I'm running about with a pistol.
  22. That news was the straw that broke the ginger's back and resulted in this post.
  23. I guess it is true what they say about a fool and his money. Stupid to invest in an industry that is alien to you. Before I took the path of light at the crossroads of life, I was thinking of taking my skills with financial statistics and experience within the industry and specialising in games investment, alas I choose to teach instead, looking at my peers who went to the dark side and the peers of my father I made the right decision, sure they are all minted, but that money acts as an anchor that will always drag them down the path of acquiring more money. (bit off topic there)

Does that mean we can rename him? I have so many great baby names, but will not be going down that path for many years to come (if at all).
