An Abuse of Basic Human Rights (in Doom 3, apparently)
Jayel replied to Salka's topic in Video Gaming
If they wanted to recreate a realistic work and research environment, they should've made a big warehouse lit with dull fluorescent lights and filled with countless rows of identical looking cubicles. And a small room in the corner with free coffee for motivation. -
I was half joking. Now, seriously, what's up with the small discs? I almost inhaled one the other day.

Nothing is more retarded than the "pre-order" system in gaming retail.
Jayel replied to Jake's topic in Video Gaming
That's a good idea. I got used Tron 2.0 from EB games a couple months back and one of the discs was missing. -
I got Gamecube over the weekend and overall I'm disappointed. First off it's not a cube. It's more like 6"x6"x4". This is the most blatant false advertising I've seen. They should rightfully call it "Gamebox" And it only comes with ONE game (Metroid Prime). XBox came with two (Halo and Amped, although it was 150 bucks more expensive). And they make you buy memory cards which are twice as expensive as the system. Metroid Prime blows. What's the point of making the hero character a woman if you're not gonna dress her up in a bikini or some other revealing outfit? I didn't even know it was a woman until she got killed and made that girlish scream. I heard nice things about Zelda games so I got the collector's edition, and the graphics suck. And the hero's name isn't Zelda. WTF? I give Gamebox 3 stars out of my 18 star rating system.

I paid 200 dollars for xbox and 1500 dollars for my desktop, and 300 dollars for a videocard. 1500 + 300 < 200 I study math, trust me.

ATI isn't just "pretty good" with their drivers. The drivers are so great, I can't even understand one line of their code.

I saw PS1 selling for 29 bucks the other day. I wanted to get it, but the games and memory cards cost more, so the hell with it. I'd like consoles more if they were more affordable.

Shenmue Online trailer is the cheesiest thing I've seen in my life. In fact it's giving me gas (I'm lactose intolerant)

I think 007: Everything or Nothing is awesome. (It has Judi Dench in it)

It looks exactly like Doom 3. Yay.

What's this game Ico I keep hearing things about once?
Jayel replied to toblix's topic in Video Gaming
I was considering getting ps2 soley for Ico, but my sister told me that's just stupid, so i reconsidered. the way i see it now, i should be able to download it from an abandonware site and play it with a ps2 emulator in about 10 years. So I just have to be a bit patient. -
You know who's dedicated? Derek Smart. That man just won't give up. What's more surprising is that his games seem to be getting better.

As long as your laptop has radeon 9000, geforce4 go or higher, it will probably work with Doom3. my laptop is a 1.4ghz centrino with 512mb ram and radeon 9000 (64mb). seems to run games just fine. I haven't encountered a game that it can't run, but must go with the lowest texture detail for the latest fps's. Far Cry shows some serious popping/draw distance issues with it. i didn't really buy it for gaming. It was the cheapest and also the latest laptop that I could afford that had a parallel port. (i need that parallel port for software dogles)

I like jumping puzzles. I don't know what people have against them.

I tried the old drivers and the newest beta drivers. I also tried editing the config file as you suggested. They had no effect. But thanks for your help. I noticed that the framerate is around the same even if I turn off shadows, specular highlighting, and the bump mapping. It's also around the same if I turn on every option (at medium texture detail) including anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering. I'm pretty much convinced that it's the cache memory. Apparently the performance hit due to small cache is much greater with intel cpus than with amd's.

I have a feeling that he came up with the whole "not killing the player for taking a few steps in the wrong direction in adventure games" thing, so I worship him. If you look closely at all my MI fan art, they all have the phrase "RG RULEZ" hidden somewhere. Don't look for it though because I may be lying.

I have 512MB ddr sdram at 266Mhz (PC2100, it's called, I think), which is the maximum speed my motherboard can support. Yours must be a more recent one. As for "slide show or just experience bouts of slowdown"... it's kinda both. Whenever it needs to run a video or an audio file, it halts for a second or so, almost as if it needs to load up something from the hd, but the hd indicator never lights up, so I'm pretty sure there's no shortage of ram. And runs like a slide show all around. Perhaps 5~15 fps. I guess I'll just play it on my laptop. I'm consistently getting around 20 fps all the time. Except I'll miss those refracted glasses and heat distortions and other fancy effects. 400mb ram... geez. how the hell are they gonna get it running on an xbox.

I tried adaware, spybot, and whole bunch of other crap and still no difference. But I can't bring myself to turn off the nude Pamela Anderson 3D screensaver. That'd mean giving up a part of myself. edit: I just realized I visit this site like every 10 minutes. Must be the exam period.

If you take a few letters out of his full name and rearrange them, you get "GOB". And if you replace B with D, you get "GOD". So I never feel bad for him.

My work term doesn't start until september. I suppose I could give the human resources a ring and yell "hey, what gives!?"

GTA games are great. I recommend'em to everyone I meet on the street. San Andreas thing looks great too. Much better than Pacman.
