  1. What!? Not even of the Special Edition? Oh man, that's disappointing. Way to disappoint, disappointers!
  2. Wow. I thought that support and new content Valve gave to L4D so far was significant enough. As a long-time fan of Valve and owner of L4D, my impression of sequel announcement was "I can't wait to play it!" not "They screwed me over!"
  3. Kinetic typography in games

Yeah the Beatles Rock Band intro is so great I put it in my iPod. Even though it's a shitty first-gen nano and doesn't do video. It's that great.
  4. Freedom Force is on Steam

Two of my favourite strategy games. I bought them off steam despite having hard copies. $7... it's a ridiculous deal.
  5. Tales of Monkey Island

I'm surprised that it's coming out so soon! And I still can't wait to play it!
  6. Can I have that photo of man-god on your front page in wallpaper-size, pretty please?
  7. BioShock 2

I think Bioshock2 will be good. I didn't really have high opinion of the original Bioshock anyway, so I have a hard time convincing myself that the sequel will be any worse.
  8. Impressions from playing Portal

I wonder if I would've enjoyed it more if it was more challenging - if I felt that I really earned the ending, you know. It's a fantastic game, easily my favourite game of 2007, but it really shows that they playtested the hell out of it so that anybody could "get it" and nobody gets stuck and halts the narrative flow.
  9. Impressions from playing Portal

Yeah, Portal does a good job of taking familiar Video game conventions and fucking with them (an obvious one to point out is how the lengths of the levels are divided up). Its a brilliant satire.
  10. PC hardware question

whatever happened to those cdrom drives with multiple lenses so that the data can be read fast without spinning the disc at a dangerous rate? I remember reading about them in magazines a long time ago, but I don't ever recall seeing them in stores.
  11. Puz: Gala

Heeey i took comsci at Waterloo. Small world, eh? (or a big school)
  12. Burnout Paradise

I was gonna get it, thinking that the DeLorean-like hovercar would be included in the Ultimate Box, but then it wasn't, so screw it.
  13. The demo pisses me off with bad controls. I know it's deliberately bad, but that just pisses me off more.
  14. Great Gaming Quotes

There is a small mailbox here.
  15. Your favorite game glitches!

Stunts http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=5__LYjX5-Y0 This game was full of crazy bugs and I loved it for it.
  16. Sorry, another piracy/DRm article...

DRM articles in big publications always skirt around the issue of DRM destroying resale value of software. It's a bit like how major media networks never mentioning oil and war in Iraq in a same sentence. I think Adobe actually released affordable consumer-level photoshop before (photoshop LE, they might have been called), but they must've not caught on, because they don't make them anymore.
  17. Sorry, another piracy/DRm article...

Near the end of the article: What the hell? Are they implying that consumers are pirates?
  18. If you guys liked Fieldrunners, you should check out 7 Cities for ipod/iphone. The guy sitting behind me at work made it in his spare time, and it's much deeper and strategic version of tower defense game compared to Fieldrunners.
  19. 24" HD 1080p for under £200

you can probaby turn it to the side and make it into a narrowscreen (or tallscreen if you prefer). 9x16 ftw
  20. Kinetic typography in games

Any love for Superman ('78) opening credits? I haven't seen or know of anyone who appreciates it as much as I do. I really dig the way the stars creep forward as though you're sitting in a slingshot that's being pulled, then the stars switch direction as the logo shows up as though you've been shot forward. The credits zoom forward which somehow adds to the sense of speed. The way the music hits the iconic notes as the title "superman" appears on the screen is just perfect. None of the damn sequels had it.
  21. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

I know nothing about the these games, but judging from the cover of the GAMEINFORMER magazine, I assume the main character from the first game had been on the train when it got magically transported into winter wonderland some 10000ft in the air, freefalling, and he must hang on to that car for his dear life because otherwise he will die?
  22. NXE impressions?

Why are all the avatars standing like that? I don't stand like that. I don't know anyone who does. It infuriates me.
  23. FUUUUUUCK!!!

My warranty expires next year. I hope my 360 RRoDs before then. No wait, I hope it doesn't. No wait, I hope it does...
  24. Fallout 3

I wanted to get the collector's edition with the lunch box, but the lunch box is too small to fit my tupperwares. So now I can't decide whether to get it or not.
  25. Help! Someone who's used Qt.

there are windows binaries on sourceforge, so you don't have to worry about qt, make, mingw etc... Follow the download links and simply download the file named "vmpk-0.2.2-setup.exe" and run it.
