It was banana nesquik - not chocolate. (at least that's what it looks like) - so I wouldn't worry too much. Chocolate is the only true flavour of Nesquik. I also liked the video. The bit with the spoons made me giggle. Like a schoolgirl

that appears to be true I think... but it also appears to be another 600mb download. :mega-shifty:

Anyone else playing the PC demo? I have some weird glitch where Sam starts walking about really slowly. And refuses to speed up. There is another weird glitch where he looks like some sort of alien, but I think that might be "by design". Why is it that the more shinily realistic graphics get, the worse the people in the games look? Half Life 2 is (almost as ever) about the only exception to this rule I can think of. This confuses me. Apart from that damn if it doesn't look nice. And it's at least as much fun as the others in the series, which is to say - it's pretty cool. I think I could quite happily spend all day split-jumping up corridor walls and then dropping on people's heads. I am STILL ten ninjas!! w00! Roll on full game (after I get done with Ace Combat 5 and Bujingai)

Righteous Ben Live the dream! Sadly my own attempts to live my GI dream of associate-producing Another World 2 with Eric Chahi have failed to materialise. And he won't return my calls either.

aaaaaaah. I remember saving my paper round money for god knows how long to buy an 8-bit, creative labs soundblaster V2.0. sixty quid. mono, 8-bit only. But like someone said earlier, when I heard the wing commander speech pack - oh maaaaaaan. that was amazing. Previous to that, all we had was the PC speaker, which could actually be tortured into playing digitized speech (start of space hulk, I think?) albeit very quietly. The tinny MIDI though, and crackly speech through crappy tiny speakers, aaaaah. That was joy. Goddamn kids with their £20 5.1 surround soundcards and Xboxes with dolby... don't know they're born!

w000w00w0w0w0!!111eleventy!!!11 <ahem> The full 13 episodes of the Wing Commander Academy cartoon series are now available in lush hi-res, 200meg an episode glory, '96 . On the offchance that you are (as I am) a completely unreconstructed WC geek then you'll love them, featuring the original voiceover artists from the games (mark hamill, malcolm mcdowell, todd marshall) and the ships from the games too... http://www.wcnews.com/news/shownews.php?date=3/11/2004 Needless to say if you have no idea what I'm talking about, then you medically need to go here : http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?gameid=2093 and grab the splendid, works-fine-on-XP-honest Kilrathi Saga repack of Wing Commander 1, Wing Commander 2 and all the special operations addons. And if you do know what I'm talking about, but have absolutely no interest in any of the Wing Commander titles then.. Urr.. Touch of Ace Combat for you sir? http://www.namco.com/games/acecombat5

While OutRun2 is indeed a damn good thing, Project Gotham Racing 2 has completely pwned my face. Difficulty ranges from the not-too-hard-at-all to the cast-iron utter-death-bastard-impossibility of some of the later platinum challenges. I fear PGR2, I also long for the day when I am so damn l33t I can get platinum /everything/. It might never happen. In the meantime I'm going to get a trogdor-like right arm from trying to steer an AC Cobra round the wet and slippery streets of Edinburgh. w00! Also, in the Christmas presents to myself vein, I found a 3 for £10 offer on PS1 games, and grabbed Wing Commander 3, Syndicate Wars and Colony Wars. I also picked up PS1 Heart of Darkness for a fiver. It's completely beautiful, unsettlingly dark in places and might actually manage to prise me away from my steering wheel. Maybe.

"Sleep Hallucinations" = "Dreams" surely?

i would watch it. but I hear it's about eight hours long, and generally boring as... So I'm going to be lounging on the sofa with my new Twin Peaks Season 1 DVD box set instead if it ever gets here.. goddamn play.com... grrr... rhubarbrhubarbrhubarb...

Anyone stupid enough to try and use a suspect CD-key with Steam deserves to get pwned - whether or not they deserve to have all their other valve software trashed as well (seems to me that's what's been happening) is another matter. Especially when you can just torrent the damn thing and use an offline activation crack if you wanted to play Hl2 without paying. I bought HL2, btw : I wanted CS: Source, and to be able to play the thing immediately rather than wait for a two day download (a legit steam download I might add)..

Seeing as I'm currently at a massive fuckoff LAN party, listening to Kittie with a frosty pint of beer, a little hash, a big box of penne arabbiata and Monday off work - I wouldn't change shit Except I'd maybe like, summon some more people to the Joint Ops : Escalation server I guess my beer could be one of those neverending beers. And it could be Samuel Adams instead of Kronenbourg 1664..! Umm, I think either this post proves my intense shallowness, or alternatively, that I have successfully calibrated my requirements for contentment to a realistic level

happy birthday m'dear! I can confirm that Spaff is indeed having a happy birthday. At a 600 player LAN party, caning off the WoW beta

hmm.. I just watched the artistic director interview video - and I am rather worried now. Why do people equate "darker" with "more mature", when generally the reverse is true? Maturity in games isn't (or more likely, shouldn't be) a factor of the number of gallons of blood spilt, or number of tattoos the main character has. This apparent obsession with making the game darker and more violent, along with the new tattoos (alarmingly similiar to those sported by the artistic director chap himself), the bad metal (Godsmack's "I Stand Alone" from the Scorpion King soundtrack of all things..), and the general drastic move away from what imho made SoT great.. none of these are promising to me. SoT was, again imho, a great game because it was a beautifully solid and cohent gameworld that revelled in its 3d nature, and challenged the player to find 3d solutions to 3d puzzles. The combat was diverting, but not the highlight. Now we have a game seemingly based on a darker, more violent character, and an emphasis on bloody combat, rather than on the elegant puzzle and exploration themes from SoT. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll be great (just like the first one, except with more satisfying combat, and plenty of puzzles and exploration), but I lament the beautiful sunlight-saturated levels, full of expansive bright roofscapes, shafts of coloured light streaming from windows, and sheets of semi-transparent silk drifting in the breeze.

Meh, she was faking it. No evidence of any physical trauma that could have caused such drastically weird behaviour, and the sleepwalking "went away" after counselling? Went away after she got bored of borking her way through her entire neighbourhood more like.

If it sells for less than £300 in the UK I'll be astonished, and hence I'll be astonished if anyone actually buys the thing. Big colour screen, massively expensive, concerns over battery life.. Game Gear v2 anyone?

heheeh "The extra arms are not contagious.." Is nice.. I like..

The most groundbreaking and controversial poll/debate ever! (Not Bush and Kerry!)
b0b replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Idle Banter
the "biscuit" I received was more like some fucked up muffin thing.. which is sort of scone-esque. and the gravy - goopy white goop with bits of Mystery Meat in. Not the rich and flavoursome meat gravy I had been expecting. Cookies are easier to make, true, but then "Nothing worthwhile is ever easy." -

Shaving cream - true! But they're still referred to as /pies/ which was, I think, my original point Oh christ.. That beefcake.. Awwwwwww That's nasty. In the UK we usually just refer to them as Pizzas, pie having more Steak and Kidney/Pastry like connotations. I thought the whole point of cookies was that they are sweet, not savoury? Hence your entire country is just weird. In the UK, cookies are biscuits, but in the US, biscuits are scones.. Hence, ordering biscuits and gravy does not actually get you biscuits and gravy, as I found out to my dismay at an IHOP the other day.. But this morning I had my first ever Krispy Kreme donut, and now I have to say, cookies can take a distinct 3rd place behind the Mighty Pie, and now the Glorious Glazed Donut. -
Well even though in this case the debate was being moderated by Bob Schieffer of CBS, I have a major bee in my manly scottish bonnet about the fact that Bob is pretty much the first name anyone ever chooses in situations like this. It's comedic and inoffensive, and this annoys me, like, in films it's always : "Thanks for those files Bob! Say, you around Friday..? OMG a terrorist! Noo!" <BLAMMO> "Goodnight Bob" "G'night Mr Bond." "No, goodnight Bob <KRICK-THUNK> "Oh my God, what happened here? What /is/ that mess?" "That's what's left of Bob.." <SQUITCH> "Jesus, what am I stepping in?" Think about it, the hero is never called Bob... Oh well, I can always go with my spare middle name
-
Sure.. An incredibly permanent marker of pain ph34r teh p41n marker..

I don't have C-SPAN in my hotel room alas I'm watching the debates now, and I'm finding it amusing that they're being moderated by a guy called Bob, so Bush and Kerry are starting their replies with stuff like "Well Bob.." Good one from Bush just now : "Do you believe homosexuality is a choice?" "I don't know Bob.. I just don't know.." Other than that they both seem to be quoting spurious "you voted X times for this shit" numbers at each other. Man, they could do with actually debating a little in these debates...

not all PCs do this.. but I've seen variations on the : "Keyboard broken/missing/failed/abducted by aliens, press <key> to continue" theme on /many/ an occasion. It's true! You can trust me!

Wasn't exactly a flight simulator, just this landscape you could zoom around a bit.. there were some credits and stuff there as well.. http://www.eggheaven2000.com/detailed/17.html The best error ever is the one you probably still get if you boot a pc without a keyboard plugged in : Keyboard failure, press F1 to continue or something along those lines
