  1. Wizaaaaaards!!

    Holy shit
  2. There were a lot of people playing, but I went with this guy because he was on the first level and I had just loaded up the game.
  3. So.. Batman: Arkham Asylum

I'm playing through it with keyboard and mouse right now. And yeah, there are so few combat buttons that it seems pretty well-suited to the mouse. It's a very good port overall.
  4. Novint Falcon

Oh right. Yeah that one is worth doing.
  5. Novint Falcon

Did you install the latest drivers? Use the latest drivers from the site, not whatever was on the disc, which are as old as whenever the disc was pressed. Drivers of a certain age don't support those Valve games natively.
  6. Novint Falcon

I wouldn't even really bother with their goofy games, they're not very fun. Although I was able to launch them from Nvent just to try them out, for the record. That's too bad about the Half-Life 2 mod. I don't know what to say there. I actually didn't try to play Half-Life 2, I just played the post-HL2 Valve games since they all have native (Valve-developed) support now as long as you're using the latest Novint drivers.
  7. Novint Falcon

What do you mean when you say Haptics-Life 2 driver? There's the Haptics-Life 2 mod, and the Falcon driver. Both are obtained from Novint's website. Also why do you need to download an ISO? My package came with all those games on a disc, does yours not have that?

  9. Video will require editing and rendering etc., I'll work on it this weekend.
  10. The recurring "just like real life" was my favorite part, I was disappointed that that wasn't what Jake or Nick reacted to. Also, thanks for the tip!
  11. Gravity, and the disregarding thereof.

I haven't played it much since it came out, but I played a ton of the preorder alpha build when that came out (I bought the game at that point) and I imagine once I get through the big pile of stuff I have right now, I'll go back to it. This is a rad game! For anyone who didn't hear me recommend it on the podcast a few months back, I recommend it now!
  12. Scribblenauts review up!

Haha, that is the best ever. This is like the Far Cry 2 of portable puzzle games.
  13. Movie/TV recommendations

A THE LETTER OF THE ALPHABET
  14. This one's a little long and a little unusual! Plus, check out the temporary splash page for our upcoming Games of the Year at GOTY.cx "Our co-hosts sedated themselves a bit this week in deference to special guest Chuck Jordan, Telltale designer and veteran of Grim Fandango and Curse of Monkey Island. Amidst discussions of Disneyland and ARG-based PR, we start to plan for Games of the Year and indulge in some pomposity about Game Narrative." Games discussed: Resident Evil 5, Treasure Troves, Army of Two, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Grand Theft Auto IV, Mr. Payback iTunes RSS http://www.idlethumbs.net/
  15. Jake's PAX thread is dumb, so: (He did make that sweet image though) Those of us who host the Idle Thumbs podcast would like to conduct the first ever Official Idle Thumbs Meet Up at Penny Arcade Expo this year, now that Jake Rodkin and I have pressured Nick Breckon into actually attending. (We did have two meetups at BlizzCon, but they were very last-minute and slapped together.) The time we've chosen is Saturday, September 5 at about 5:15PM for an undetermined duration. We can hang out and talk about video games, and wizards. How many of you guys are heading to PAX? Would that time be good for you? I know it's impossible to avoid conflicts for everyone, but I tried to pick a time that wouldn't conflict with our existing commitments--our own Jake will be at the Telltale panel from 4pm to 5pm--as well as wouldn't conflict with things our listenership is most likely to want to attend, like the Giant Bomb and Brodeo panels. Beyond that, anyone have any feedback as to whether it would be better to stay on-site or go off-site to a bar or something? We're hoping to have enough of a plan by Monday that we can actually announce it in the podcast and hope enough people listen to it in time.
  16. Recently completed video games

    It came out in 2006.
  17. Another backlog thread

The other day I finally removed everything out of my Steam "favorites" category and only put in there the things I actively want to complete. It's actually been quite helpful. When I consider loading up something down in the lower section that I've already played to death (Zuma or some goofy thing like that), that little clump of favorites up at the top is like a scolding wrist slap.
  18. Recently completed video games

I just beat Bookworm Adventures Deluxe. FUCK YEAH.
  19. Other podcasts

This isn't about games, but I've been listening to Hardcore History over the last few days. It's pretty great. I just finished the third part of an ongoing series about WW2's Eastern Front.
  20. WadjetEye Games 50% off everything! This weekend only!

That's what I always loved about the LucasArts pixel work. It looked like it had been designed for its resolution, rather than simply scaled down. Obviously in the case of the hand-painted backgrounds it HAD been scaled down, but it was already retouched in a very crisp way. I don't mean to say that Blackwell Convergence stuff isn't attractive, but it does feel maybe one or two degrees too soft.

I know what he means. The lines in those screenshots are quite blurry. They're antialiased to such a degree that in some cases objects seem to almost blur into the background around the edges.
  22. New people: Read this, say hi.

I don't know why they're missing. We've messed around with the forum template and software a bunch, and at this point a lot of it is just kind of broken in ways that don't cripple anything but are sort of annoying.
  23. New people: Read this, say hi.

    Welcome folks!
