  1. To me, "cliche" has little to do with my aversion to this trailer and character, although I think you could certainly characterize the name "Subject Zero" in that way, particularly within the nerd arts of comic books, video games, and genre film. Your point I think is a good one though broadly speaking.
  2. Odious Tea

They're a pain in Legendary. To me they totally break Halo. In a console shooter I feel like my success should not be wholly dependent on quick aiming, since console shooters aren't very good at that, but there's really hardly any other strategy to kill these goddamn guys.
  3. Odious Tea

Yeah the flood was the goddamn worst. I was so glad they went away for ODST. The flying guys were pretty bad, but not as bad as the flood.
  4. Odious Tea

I don't remember the slightest thing about the story in any of the Halo games except vaguely I guess that the humans are fighting aliens called the Covenant and at one point there was a planet that was shaped like a halo.
  5. So.. Batman: Arkham Asylum

Yeah, that's true. Some of what was added was lighting though, which is particularly relevant.
  6. There's way too much text in this thread for me to go through the whole thing and address individual points, but my distaste for the trailer is far more based on the voiceover than the visuals, although neither appeals to me. To my memory, pretty much every spoken line was ridiculous-sounding to me. She just seems like a ludicrous character that I'm pretty sure I would find equally grating as a male or female. I found the Prince in the Warrior Within demo to be pretty loathsome for similar reasons, so I'd like to think I'm equal-opportunity in that regard.
  7. Trine

  8. I much prefer this version of Amanda: Sadly, the first one is the version on the album.
  9. The full version of Marvin Weinberg, as far as I'm aware, is only available on the album. You can buy it here: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/terribletim
  10. Trine

Presumably it's the North American store that's being discussed.
  11. Trine

    It only has local multiplayer.
  12. Google Wave

I have never heard of this thing before
  13. Trine

I'm not sure what exactly you're saying you did or didn't do, but I thought it played better with a mouse. I'm obviously a PC fan though.
  14. Recently completed video games

I played through Windosill yesterday. It's a Flash game that simply has you "solving" puzzle rooms one after another. The game is essentially entirely whimsical, there are few if any repeating mechanics. It's just about experiencing the animation and surprising interactions. Anyway I'd never heard of it before. I was browsing around Steam and it was $3 so I picked it up. It was kind of nice. Not amazing by any means, but different and enjoyable enough and almost no money.
  15. Comics

So you're interested in non-superhero stuff too? You specifically asked for superhero, but people are listing a bunch of other comics as well. I just ask because I don't read superhero comics but I would have a bunch of other recommendations.
  16. New people: Read this, say hi.

Thanks buddy! Welcome to all other new dudes as well.
  17. Thanks for making a cool game!
  18. Mass Effect 2

There were definitely a bunch of times you have to kill people in Mass Effect, even without your say in the matter. One of my most frustrating combat memories in that game is killing a bunch of security guards on Noveria in one of the game's first required combat scenarios after the intro (assuming you go to Noveria first).
  19. It's fairly random, but be concise. Sometimes people ask good questions in emails many paragraphs in length, but that's rarely practical to read. It's pretty much always possible to edit down to fewer words (I realize I'm not the best model of that on the podcast). Same goes for 55-Wizard-ON, to an even greater degree. We get a lot of three-minute voice mails, and there's just no way we're going to have a straight-up recording that long.
  20. Yep, Leigh's my coworker. She's the site's News Director, I'm the Editor-at-Large. Gama power, wooo
  21. How has Idle Thumbs affected your life?

"this site has introduced me to a ton of, incredibly, people"
  22. How has Idle Thumbs affected your life?

    Holy shit. Well, that's awesome.
  23. If you thought the Saitek Cyborg was crazy...

I don't see any functional use for those things though, they're purely cosmetic (and tacky). This seems like a genuinely useful case design, as long as it's actually a good case.
