Chris Remo's on Gamers with Jobs podcast
Chris replied to Forbin's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Haha, it wasn't even that. It was a reference to Daikatana's (infamous, or at least I thought so) line, "I can't leave without my buddy Superfly!" And thanks for the pronunciation note, I'll keep that in mind. -
Just completed Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. Steam clocked me at 7 hours. Appropriately enough, it's basically a more forgettable The Sands of Time. I never really got tired of running on walls and jumping around, and the level design was fantastic with respect to the acrobatic stuff. I'm glad I played it. It's not going to stick with me like TSOT did, though.

Yeah, GWJ is a Skype-based podcast. Whenever I'm on a Skype podcast I deliberately hold back. The only way to avoid Awkward Phone Syndrome is to only speak when you're confident you can say at least one full sentence. You can't do a lot of quick back and forth, it just falls apart. That's the main reason I tend to be more reserved when I do other podcasts--that, and obviously also that I'm a guest in somebody else's home, so to speak, and there's not really the existing chemistry to go nuts like Thumbs. -
The Idle Thumbs Podcast Episode 8: A Castro Situation
Chris replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I think it's Ableton Live 8, based on the window heading "Live 8"! -
Oh, right! It would be cool if somebody kept screenshots of those once every five or six days or so, so we can assemble them into big panorama-like graphics at the end, since they only show the last seven days of data at any one time and everything older than that is lost. This could be the best-documented game of Neptune's Pride ever!
-
We could also just post those directly to Twitter, since the Twitter names are already anonymous. You could then composite them together from there. Or not!

I've edited in a bunch of the Twitter accounts to Murdoc's post

That's not really an issue; just don't publicly share any information that you wouldn't want everyone to be able to read. That's already true in the in-game chat.
-
This game filled up a few days ago, but there might be more people looking to start a new one.
-
Hahaha, that's hilarious. I'm totally down for that. Would most of us participate?

I finished Alpha Protocol the other day. That was a game that consistently improved pretty much throughout, partially because I seemed to choose my travel locations in increasing quality order, but also because the conversation payoffs become exponentially meaningful as the game progresses.

Wow, spiral galaxy is crazy! Also I've never started with only one star before. I think this is going to be a long-ass game. EDIT: The more I look at this, the more insane it seems

Yeah, Paul Robertson is great. I recognized his work immediately when I first loaded up the trailer. And while Anamanaguchi isn't the kind of thing I listen to on my own time, they're definitely a great choice for this game. Whoever is handling this game seems to be handling it right.

I always feel compelled to reply whenever someone else mentions The Apartment, because god damn that is one great movie. Watch The Apartment.

Well, I can't read everything, so I need some way to determine what I should expend effort on, and everything said about it makes it sound extremely unappealing to me. It's true that I can't make a final judgment on something I haven't read, but based on my own experience reading stuff in the past, I can make a reasonable guess as to whether it's something I will like. Anyway the thread was created about the game, which I think looks pretty cool.

I had (and still have, really) no idea how popular Scott Pilgrim is. All I know is that whenever I see the artwork I find it totally terrible to look at, and pretty much everything said about it in this thread makes it sound bad to me. Same goes for Joss Whedon. I don't even think Whedon is particularly popular--if he were, his shows would probably last longer--but whether he is or not, I still can't stand his dialogue.

If you ask us things (or tell us things), we may read them and respond to them on the next episode. questions@idlethumbs.net Do it! Do it now!

That's fine too, but it isn't as potentially hilarious.

I'd be down for another game. I like the idea of using the Telltale naming system. We'd need an impartial person who's not taking part in the game to "shuffle" the potential names and then distribute them to all the players, to ensure anonymity.

A six- to seven-hour campaign doesn't really sound much longer to me. I don't remember how long Portal was with great specificity, but I seem to generally recall it was in the four- to six-hour mark or so. You aren't going to playing through the single-player and co-op campaigns as one combined length, so in effect they're each separate, fairly short, games with shared mechanics.
-
Erik Wolpaw told me this week the team is shooting for each separate campaign, single-player and co-op, to last about 6-7 hours. And I don't have a link handy, but I also asked him about his approach to Portal jokes and references, which you can read about on Gamasutra today.

Everything about that sounds unbelievably horrible.
