I agree that Gamespot, Gamespy, and IGN all have the same sort of thing, but I will definitely say that Gamespot does the best job. I find their reviews to be the most reasonable and their content in general to be the most professional. I go out of my way to read their site, even though its goal isn't to provide extreme editorial content or anything, because it does what it's supposed to do whereas I find Gamespy and IGN to be despicable shitpiles. I wish I could find the Penny Arcade about Gamespy/IGN. Jake, help me out here.

Well, Gamespot's funny video content, which has been brought up in this thread, tends to be stuff I can't imagine any other site would be able to rip off with even the slightest shred of conscience. How would you justify it? Anyway, Marek: a few more worth watching are the Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing review and the Charlie's Angels review.

If this guy is so concerned about kids getting access to porn, why target games? Buying a Playboy Mansion game is way more difficult than just getting porn off the internet or possibly even seeing a porn movie. It doesn't make sense to me that people like this specifically target the games industry for adult content when far more pornographic material in other mediums has been available elsewhere. We already have porn pictures, porn stories, porn movies, etc., it's just an inevitable fact that we will eventually have porn games especially when the games industry is out-grossing the film industry in the US. Like it or not, that's the way it is. And I've got to say, when there's only one game you can think of to attack, that's actually not too bad.

Fair enough. I still harbor love for the original Star Wars trilogy as well as Indiana Jones, but that's generally in spite of the writing rather than in any way because of it. Interesting point: Lucas got a Best Original Screenplay nomination in '77 for Star Wars. Crazy, eh?

Well that's kind of what Simon Jeffery wanted to do when he was still President, but he's been gone for months now. Now they've got some LucasFilm suit filling the position until the company fades away ( ), so you might as well forget about it.

I broke a joystick in 1993 or 1994 or thereabouts playing TIE Fighter. It was a two-button stick I believe that I got free with my 486, and I've never bought another joystick since. From that point on I just always used mouse+keyboard (even for flight sims like TIE Fighter) and after 10 years of not owning a joystick I'm utterly incompetent on the damn things.
